  1. Had this on an old dead cherry last winter terrible smell too !
  2. I've done that too and I just washed out the tank and put clean fresh fuel in and it went 1st time. If its been sitting then there might be other issues stopping it, have you the ignition system and plug ??
  3. I had a 110 defender for years, towed all sorts with it. Breaks a lot but cheap and easy to fix. In the end corrosion killed it but i got a fair bit back when I sold it in on to the local 4x4 garage for parts. Had a mitsubish L200 last few years and its great but repairs are costly.
  4. I've had my own issues with depression too, and talking plus meds helped me, but everyone is different. Its a terrible condition that most people don't comprehend but with help from family, friends and professionals I'm sure you can get through it. Alcohol was something that I avoided like the plague, bad family history in that department, and I'm sure that didn't do me any harm, I just had to work hard at getting my shit back together. Best advice I got was to not bottle stuff up and share my terrible feelings and get them out in the open where they couldn't damage me anymore. You have my heart felt best wishes pal.
  5. I do it with small sycamore stems as I find it makes them less "snappy" and improves my directional fall control.
  6. Good result mate, I've a 365 and love it.
  7. I've done this a few times although I can't say I noticed a difference, and as Stubby said you need the 4.8 handy, and like buses, police men and hookers you can never find one when you're looking for one !
  8. Exact opposite for us in North Cumbria, poor year last year but an average to good one this year. 3 years ago we were ankle deep in them.
  9. I got Pferd files off amazon, think they were nearly a tenner each !! They do seem to last tho.
  10. I have to agree time to get a professional in and get it down. I assume Tulip is decent timber and you could get it milled and made in to something nice.
  11. Its in South Africa in the Western Cape region, they have had a severe drought and the non-native pines remove huge amounts more from the water table than the native plants, so actually the natives are likely to be more drought resistant and just better environmentally all round. Another ecosystem messed up by planting invasive non-native species. Bet fire wood prices hit rock bottom tho !
  12. You won't regret it, I love mine.
  13. I'm planning to put some willow whips in to screen off an area in the garden, when is the best time to do it ??
  14. Back to the topic of making saws safer, would a sort of dead mans handle device on the front handle be a good idea to stop idiots using saws 1 handed ?? ( although I bet we've all done it). As this is what the young chap who started the thread was looking for. Might be good for home owner type saws where there is often a temptation to stretch out just to get that last side branch !!
  15. Another vote for the 550 Mk 2. (Didn't have a Mk 1 tho.)
  16. I kind of agree with you except that you aren't "lucky", your smart and sensible. Your safety should have nothing to do with "luck".
  17. By the way if my sensor idea ( idiot or pressure) does have legs and you sell it to Husky or Sthil I want 50% ! You all heard it here first.
  18. Can’t see that it would be difficult to engineer a simple circuit that the user makes when holding the front and rear handles and cuts the motor if you let go of the front handle without the chain brake on. Might even keep Stubby out of prison ! ☠️
  19. On a serious note you could put a sensor in the front handle that cuts the motor out if you try to use it one handed. Seen dopes do that a fair few times.
  20. A common sense detector fitted to the handle ! Stops the saw starting if your an idiot.
  21. Went on a course locally and the chap running it asked us to put a sticker with our name on it on the most dangerous part of a chainsaw, so we all put it on the chain. He told us to take them off and stick them on our forehead as we were much more dangerous!! It helped us all get on on the course that day and I’ve never forgotten that I’m responsible for my own safety.
  22. I use an old wheelie bin with no lid. The lid kept getting caught on stuff.
