  1. Just starting out doing weekend work by myself, not got to the stage of employing people yet. Any bigger jobs I will enlist the help of a groundie.
  2. So I was taking down a conifer today over shed and green house by myself when Mr Helpful appears in my drop zone with his secateurs and starts sneading the branches into his green bin. After the fourth time of asking him to stand back I had to tell him in the politest way possible he was being more of a hindrance than a help. I found this really difficult and awkward as I could tell he thought he was being really helpful and I may of embarrassed him by asking him to go back into the house. Does anyone have experience of this and have a way of keeping Mr helpful out the way without embarrassing him?
  3. The visor does protect your face especially when chipping! I would say it's a must for beginners. The built in safety glasses for the petzl helmet works great and doesn't steam up like a lot of the safety glasses do! Shite in the rain tho.
  4. Looks like a Metasequoia
  5. Well done mate very impressive👍🏻
  6. Put a couple of fanny pads down ur back on a hot day!
  7. That's impressive before and after pics there!
  8. I've got the 550 and 261 always grab the 550 first and keep the 261 as a back up saw.
  9. It's a good saw I used one for about a year until I switched jobs. You should check out the "tiny echo" thread on here it may change your mind.

    Tiny echo!

My last job I used the huski t435 and the 540, my current job we have the Stihl 200 and 201. It beats all of them it's actually a joy to use. I'm not sure if it's the thinner chain and Stihl carving bar that make the difference, I'd imagine the 200 would be better with a thinner chain. But the 200 is heavy and clumsy when doing a big reduction whereas the echo is light and nimble.

I agree! It's the best top handle saw I have ever used.
  12. Congratulations Silky.... So when you getting a Go Pro??

  14. Cool video, very relaxing to watch!
  15. A lot of big companies still retain the name of the person who started it and it doesn't seem to do them any harm. Maybe just use your surname as it's less of a mouthful.
  16. Steal your mums vegetable oil!
  17. The best groundies imo are the ones who leave their phones in the van! I have recently appointed my groundie head of communications as he is never off his IPhone! I get that it can be boring dragging brash! But surly that is the motivation to learn to climb so u don't have to drag the brash! Rant over! I learnt to climb before I started work in Arb so I kinda bypassed the groundie role! That would be my recommendation to you as it worked for me!

    Tiny echo!

Just used it on a hornbeam reduction and it is phenomenal! Cuts as clean as a silky (even on hornbeam) bags of power it didn't struggle once, so light compared to my ms200, starts every time first pull! I love it!! Thanks Rob D
  21. Or ivy hawthorn birdshitty mess in the rain!
