  1. Thanks joe that's a good help I will get my boss to order that Monday. Have a good weekend!
  2. Hi all, I have started a new job and have been given a 11mm Yale blaze to climb on, (I am used to climbing on 13mm xtc) my first decent on the blaze I melted the 9mm prussik a fair bit! My question is what friction device/hitch/cord suits the 11mm blaze the best. Cheers

Is it the employers keeping wages down in the Arb industry or is it the mass amount competition out there! I feel that it is the most underpaid trade for the skill and effort it takes to carry out good tree work!

Keeping my fingers crossed for you Sean hope you get some good news soon!
  6. What would be a 30 second fell for us is a 12 minute hassle for a novice! With 10 times the risk!

Loads of jobs out there mate my advice is apply for other jobs get the interview and ask for the money you would like! If they offer it then u can either take them up on it or go back to your boss in a very strong position and request more money. Lots of companies are advertising for work just now and getting no applicants! It's a good time to be an Arborist!
  9. Sorry it's in Northamptonshire not sure of the size.
  10. What's this worth whole stem of black walnut

    Ego

Experience is only invaluable if you have the intelligence to realise what you are experiencing.
  13. That looked great fun thanks for the vid! Beats the scabby ivy covered creatagus I was scrapping with today.
  14. Doubt there will be a 3 section ladder on the interview tho. So in that case will probably end up throwing and body thrusting.
  15. We have a 3 section ladder which I use I find it quicker than throwing and thrusting.
  16. I thought that and others I have spoke to think that, but I don't see how it is different than using a strop and mainline to ascend, at some points u will only be attached by strop! I always have my mainline clipped onto the back of my harness during the ascent. Again thanks for your time.
  17. Hi all, i am looking for some clarification. I climb with 2 strops up (VT pully)to my tie in point and then attach my main line (prussik) to the tree and work and descend from this. Is this an approved method? I find this the fastest method with the equipment I have. My reason for asking is I have a job interview with a practical trial and don't won't to lose out on a technicality. Thanks in advance for any advice given!
  18. Sorry pressed send by accident. I was going to say that the plum trees I have encountered with it have been reduced heavily in the past whereas untouched plums are fine.
  19. Reductions are probably the reason the Just let them go their own way. I haven't heard of many fatalities caused by ornamental cherries.
  20. Yip Phellinus and it will lead to stem and branch failure. We get it on almost every purple plum where I work and they drop branches all the time. But I have climbed trees covered in it and they have held up.
  21. Sorry I meant antibacterial or anti fungal properties.
  22. Mulch with fruit tree chipping they are high in sugar so double whammy! Don't use walnut chip though it will suppress or kill as it is allopathic! Willow chip has antibacterial fungal or bacterial properties can't remember which.
