  1. You can pay someone less to sit on a mower than to climb a tree! There is also less waste to process with mowing!
  2. Bashlines are good but take a bit of breaking in plus until the leather gets supple ur groundie may have to tighten them for u! Feet first shins second!
  3. Chipped a shitty little Sorbus aria and spent half my time holding the override button! It's a heap of ****!!!!!
  4. Fear = mistakes in my opinion! Once u learn to trust ur tip then the fear goes! + swinging back into the trunk doesn't hurt too much!lol
  5. He has a degree and started as a climber but turned out he was scared of heights! He has no drive eats cake for lunch! I tell him 2 tins of tuna will make u stronger! But at the end of the day I hate cleaning up and chipping so canny grumble too much!
  6. A decent groundie can save ur body massively! My 9 stone groundie keeps me fit As due to a recent manual handling course refuses to lift anything over 25kg ie 90% my rings and branches! We don't have a flying capston so I regularly make him Fly cause he forgets to wrap round the tree then have to drop down and cut up the bit being lowered! I think like at Alton towers their is a minimum height ride groundies should have minimum weight 15st plus!
  7. Underpaid is the main bug bare for me I'm from the north of Scotland and all my friends work off shore earning 80k a year! 90% of the time the sit round drinking tea (their words not mine) we risk our lives on a daily basis and get paid the same as team supermarket managers! I love my job but at the top of that 20m poplar you sometimes feel we are undervalued! End of the day supply and demand dictates it too many climbers not enough trees!
  8. Don't buy the sub 750 Vermeer! I can give you a heap of reasons not to!
  9. Glocosimine is good! And tuna, tuna tuna! U tear the muscle u have to repair the muscle!
  10. drinking low units of alcohol! Pecker come Friday I drink my weekly allowance I'm sure it slows me down but if I wasn't drunk I would be out splitting wood or something depleting my energy for Monday!
  11. Typo I meant mobile communities of hard working honest individuals!
  12. Gypsies
  13. Tree motion for comfort, Yale xtc rope, prussik and a strop with two crabs a valdotain and a small pulley and ur good to go!
  14. I'm 29 and climb roughly 4 days a week. I'm fit but do ache come Friday, a relaxing weekend is key to charge the batteries for Monday! (And ladders when possible.lol)
  15. We have the sub 750 Vermeer and we daily wish it was a Timberwolf! Hydraulics have burst the seal 3 times in 6 months from new! The design seams to be a afterthought as there is a shitty little stand in a really awkward place you have to wind down anytime it's off the van! The kill switch gets activated by a butterfly landing on it and it has a lever to control the feed roller speed which isn't in the best location and never gets used! + it's a bitch to reverse and things have started to fall off it! On a plus side the guys at Vermeer are great and have been very helpful the 5 times we have had to get it repaired in the last 6 months!
  16. Stella was reassuringly expensive now I Just drink whiskey now and live on a park bench! 😞
  17. The chain of both my husky T435 keeps coming loose up the tree almost every climb! I have to climb with a combi spanner as it happens so often! I dunno if this is a design flaw or I'm just a complete mong! One of them got nicked so we only have half the problem now!
  18. I put on a stone drinking Stella as Morrisons were selling 18 cans for a tenner! I was drunk for the whole of December! Cut that out and iv already dropped that stone!
  19. Eat less move more!
  20. Greatly appreciated! Thanks Jimbob
  21. Protein helps repair all those muscles damaged chogging down a fat beach stem!😀
  22. Except when re-pollarding a willow, but maybe I was doing it wrong.lol
  23. If you could send me his details that would be greatly appreciated. 😀
  24. Some of it is cracking wood you could turn up with a trailer and fill it with top quality fire wood (ash, cherry, robinia) if your interested I can send you contact details.
