  1. I put mine down today whilst moving some branches and sure enough when I went to pick it up again it had set fire to a bundle of dry moss. Must have been pretty damn hot!
  2. Yep sirius is a lovely rope
  3. Thanks. Did you find the conversion helped it sit higher when fully loaded? How hard are they to fit?
  4. Sorry if this has been covered before. I want to upgrade my rear leaf springs on a 51 plate ranger supercab tipper. Can anyone advise me on what to go for and where to buy etc. Thanks
  5. I see. The only good wood was a small section on a buttress about the size of my fist. Is that enough to sustain a big tree like that? Not for long i would have thought. On a different topic the customer had been quoted 6 grand to mend the damaged wall in the background!
  6. Im not 100% sure. It failed about a month back now so before the leaves but it seems the tree was still living when it blew over or very recently dead. Would you expect to see some buds bursting anyway if there was still some residual energy?
  7. Don't know how this Ash was standing so long tbh. There was no sound wood left at the base. Is this Ganderma applanatum on the ground in the 3rd pic?
  8. Is this a serious post? My 4 year old climbs trees with no 'fall arrest system' or 'pedestrian exclusion zone'. Is that 'disregarding public safety'?
  9. Great saw to use. Good balance and power. Not a perfect saw (like the 461) but the best of the bunch in my opinion. 2 years regular abuse and no problems as yet
  10. Eh? A lot of trees we do would not be possible without rigging, and part of the skill is being able to assess how big a bit you can safely rig down. Every tree calls for different techniques, that's the beauty of this profession in my eyes
  11. Got some chunks of willow with some lovely spalting and grain. Came from a very old storm damaged tree. Is it worth anything to bowl turners? It's near faversham, kent
  12. Another vote for big grinder and tracked chipper. I know a lot of folk round here would also use them
  13. Stein vega plus is great (Same as vega with more leg padding).Simple, well designed and comfy.
  14. Chin up. Take it away from whoever is supposed to be repairing it and give it to someone decent. Sometimes when things go a bit bad then little problems like this seem much worse than they really are.
  15. Took a silver birch down this time last year and left a cone sitting on the stump. Came back to grind it the following week and it was oozing with slime like in your pic. Under the cone was full of a weird smelly cloudy mould. Went everywhere when I ground it out including in my mouth. Nice
  16. Never come across an 8" bar, sounds just the ticket for this wee saw. A builder on a job the other day called mine a handbag saw!

So having owned both which would you choose now if you had to buy again?

    I think the arb 130 is a 6" chipper isn't it?

How about greenmech arborist 130? Not sure how they compare performance wise I'm sure someone here has used both
  20. Some amazing lime pollards I saw whilst quoting recently. Never seen any like this before. And a chestnut with some interesting branching, not sure what has caused this, photo is not great though
  21. Anyone know what to torque the multitip bolts to? I'm new to this system so 1st time swapping them over. Thanks
  22. I've used 'storm secure' made by basf. Works a treat and given to me by a friend who does pest control
