  1. We are a small firm based in faversham, Kent. Looking to have some more climbers and ground workers to call on when needed. Will be occasional at first but the right person may be be offered a full time job in the future. Must have a professional approach to the job and an eye for detail. Treefolk.co.uk.
  2. The guy who does my machinery repairs also got done over last night. Lots of customers machines, chain reels etc all nicked. Bstards. Felt really sorry for him. It pays to remember anyone dealing with expensive kit like saws, chippers etc is being watched and followed back to yards etc.
  3. We have also installed an eco Angus orligno 200 18kw with 1500l accumulator tank. Can't fault it, seems well designed and made. Price of installation can vary greatly depending on where it's going. Ours is in a purpose built shed about 30m from the house. There is a trench between the 2 with a very expensive insulated heat main in it.
  4. There's a mill in lenham I think that do big bundles of waste wood/ off cuts . Worth a look probably
  5. I see your point though, not many installers would allow you to work alongside them or take on areas of the project alone
  6. It has to be certified by mcs installer here too. I think we are lucky in that we already knew the installer so trust him totally.
  7. We have nearly completed the installation of an 18 kw biomass boiler. Hoping to get it signed off and registered before january as payback is tipped to drop 10%. It's a big undertaking but I reckon well worth it. For us at least, we have no mains gas and apart from a big log burner all electric heaters. I have done most of the work myself which has saved a packet, though still a big investment. We stand to make back just over what it costs us to install. I'd be happy to answer any questions based on my experience of the whole thing.
  8. Thanks for the advice but I want a 16" bar not 14" bar and chain recommendations. I'm aware some people think it's too big, but many people also only use a 16" bar on them. We all have different ideas about what works for us otherwise we'd all have identical gear.
  9. I will mostly use it with 14" still but take it up with 16" on the odd occasion. It's pushing it but it's man enough I reckon. Just saves hauling a bigger saw up earlier.
  10. As the subject says, anyone recommend a good 16" bar for this saw? When I say good I mean balance, longevity etc. Don't want another husky bar as just noticed it has a slight bend. Never been used to lever anything etc. Thinking sugihara but not sure if there is one to fit? Thanks
  11. Thanks again for a detailed response. I will keep you posted on what happens, if anything. And yes it is a sycamore probably self seeded, about 25' .
  12. Thanks for the detailed response. Seems to make a lot of sense. I certainly won't go ahead without speaking to the council etc. No word yet though so someone may have quoted cheaper, good luck to them!
  13. so I sent a quote this morning including the following phase in the comments: "Due to the issue of unknown ownership of the land, written (email) acceptance of this quote implies that you have researched and obtained all necessary consents for us to carry out the work and that all liability is yours". I think this should cover me in the event of any quibbles.
  14. Seems like a good simple idea. I'll go with that. Looked at the job yesterday and it's half a days work at best with 2 people so not gonna sweat over this one! Thanks all
