  1. The scythe is much better on big spaces if you can use one without cutting yourself!! My dad nearly took his thumb off years ago sharpening one!! Be careful with them! A great tool though
  2. How big an area? Could you not pay a local farmer to come with a topper then keep it in check yourself afterwards?
  3. You can buy the download from herehttp://www.lingshondaparts.com/product.php/9000260/um536_um616_workshop_manual___66vd810d Maybe not a parts list though??
  4. That's really tall for a normal mower to cope with. Is it a collector mower? My big ride on mower does not like any more than about 3 inches but it is a cylinder mower
  5. Have you tried asking at a Honda mower dealer?
  6. Have you checked fuel/fuel line /filter or even air filter if that's blocked it won't go. Spark plug?
  7. I started out with a b and q own brand strimmer and a champion mower and a homelite blower!! C**p But they did start me going. The blower lasted 2 1/2 seasons work. All my stuff is now stihl / Honda toro etc. you have to start somewhere!! I would not buy it myself but would be good for a start
  8. Link is for an extension lead type thing!!!!
  9. Is that not huge money? How much would a new one be?
  10. I hope you raise some money!! One of my customers is one of the organisers she is flying back from Tenerife tomorrow night landing at midnight and has to be there for 8ish on Friday morning!!
  11. What you doing at the one event? I'm just up the road from there.
  12. I'm with Santander and you don't even get counter service with the small business account! I think you need £250000 turnover before you can speak to someone in person at a branch.
  13. No idea! What did you manage to say without laughing?
  14. I have a one its not in bad shape cuts nicely. They are not a bad machine if you can get it running well. Good luck with it

    Save them for bonfire night
  16. My last few days off was at the start of the kids holidays and I was out working until 2pm and we were supposed to be leaving at 12ish got in trouble for that! Problem is if I had not done it I would have been thinking about it all the time we were away. I find switching off from work a big problem there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day at the moment.
  17. Agreed the NFU has never really helped the small farmers according to my dad it's always the big boys that make their voice heard.(the most to gain I suppose) I may get there in the end that's why I'm working bloody hard now as you never know my business my "click" and start paying out after years of blood sweat tears and money being pumped in! If it does I will find that piece of land I want but I may have to go to France to find it!
  18. If the subsides are so good why are farms going out of business? The system is flawed without doubt and I don't know how it would be fixed. I do know my dad doesn't claim them anymore as they are not worth it for him and what his is doing now semi retired. To get good rates you need thousands of acres meaning you would need a couple of million just to put a deposit down to get started. Then have money for machines. The numbers don't add up unless you have land in those amounts that is already paid for. I've been looking to get a small holding 10-20 acres and the numbers just don't add up. It does make me sad as I would like to live on a farm again but won't be able to. I won't take the risk I suppose as is need to take a massive mortgage to do it and a small farm would not pay for itself let alone make any money to live on
  19. I do see your point and it's not black and white. The subsidy may not be a price subsidy in theory but in practice it turns out to be the case. And I also agree that the very large landowners are not the ones who need the subsidy it as you say the people at the bottom that need the subsidy not the huge estates
  20. That's exactly my point why do you care how much someone else has? As for these others that are left to rot which ones? Coal? Ships? I don't make the rules. Why shouldn't you reap the reward for taking huge risks?
