  1. Not on your main residence
  2. They paid the tax on the money that paid for the house in the first place. Why should we be taxed on inflation?
  3. Do we really want to live in a society that does not reward hard work? I know I don't.
  4. Because the government have already had their tax on it already
  5. I see what you are saying but I think that it should only be a tax on capital gains on properties with inflation stripped out as people paid tax on their earnings to buy these things in the first place, as for savings they are taxed at source all the way along so they should be left alone. My wife is a teacher and had no pay rise for years ( a pay cut if you add inflation) I just think that people who have saved money and bought property paying taxes along the way should be allowed to pass on their money as they choose with the tax man having his cut.
  6. Thanks very much for the comprehensive answer
  7. Which of the 4 wheeled mowers with drive would you say have the least problems?
  8. Which 1? I'm after a new mower again this year
  9. No I didn't but the point I was making is you will never please everyone
  10. You can please some of the people all of the time, some of the people some of the time and all of the people none of the time
  11. Are you sure it was even working? I only say that as I cut through a phone line in a pyracantha had a panic about it and it turned out that it was not even connected anymore. Might be wishful thinking
  12. Buy which ever you will use most straight away
  13. Fair point it's just not black and white as to who is to blame, the banks need to take some responsibility but so do the people signing on the dotted line.
  14. I did not miss it. My point was no one was forced into anything. It's no good blaming the banks when you take a £150k mortgage while working at McDonald's flipping burgers
  15. All true but no one forced these people to take out massive mortgages
  16. In this country at least the opportunity is there for all, people who claim it's not are just wrong, it may take the poor longer and have to work harder than those lucky enough to be born into a rich family but it is still there. I get nothing from the government in benefits as in cash handouts, but obviously the nhs etc. Work should pay not sitting on your backside! Zero hours and the like are wrong, but to cure that you need the population at large to be happy to pay more for everything. Increasing the minimum wage would simply cause inflation to pay for itself.
  17. They should have to pay their fair share without doubt! What's a fair wage in your opinion? Because I have been looking at the charts various people have put links up for and I can't work out where people draw the line?
  18. Where have you got the figures from?
  19. I see your point but in lincoln anyway the guys that clear it up work for the council full time anyway so they are being paid anyway
  20. 8hours @£15
  21. When it's said as 120 for the day it sounds better! But even then I suppose it depends on overheads other than a saw and fuel. Also it's no good if it's just an hour or 2 unless you can fill the day elsewhere.
  22. That seems really cheap to me I charge more than that for cutting grass! Is £15 an hour the going rate for chain sawing ?
  23. Hi a question if anyone can help? I have an old lawnmower with a 23hp Kohler twin engine in it. I'm starting to have problems with it running rich. And I can't seem to set carb right. Waiting on a new air filter for it. Anyone got any ideas as to the cause? I have not yet taken the carb apart? Many thanks Richard. Oh the mower was not used last season so it's been sat for over a year
  24. Looking good
