  1. Not a chip site as such but my dads farm is nearby and he would probably take some now and then if that's any help? Just seen your location is it just a one off job? And if so how much?
  2. Sorry that makes sense:thumbup:
  3. Does that have to be a full load?
  4. I don't even know why you would want someone anywhere near you if you can help it. I know I don't want anyone near me when I'm cutting anything in case the saw does anything stupid like bite back at me
  5. Not being in arb but having used a chainsaw I can't see why you would want to stand on top And squash the tree onto its self? Me being very thick sorry
  6. You've got to charge for it somewhere, easiest being getting a trade rate at a local nursery and then charging out at just under retail prices. Having said that this way only works if you are getting lots of plants or you won't get a decent price yourself. Otherwise you have to go in the customers time or charge the appropriate time if your doing it at the weekend. If your doing it in your own time stop now as people will just expect it and then tell their friends etc. yes you will get busy but not getting paid for it(the time spent fetching) will drive you mad in the end. The good customers will not mind paying the bad ones won't like it but you don't want people like that anyway do you? You must value your time because if you don't the customer won't either:thumbdown:
  7. If it pays for itself in 6 years then are you not getting about 300% over 20 years?
  8. Thanks for that sort of sums up what I'm thinking really, and as it goes I won't need to make much if anything from the tree work as it will open up the other areas which I can do myself/staff. I know of 2 or 3 tree guys locally might give them a ring and see what they have to say. Thanks for taking the time to reply many thanks Richard
  9. There is a farm near me also putting them in. a retired farmer has got 120 acres of them they have just recently gone online. Not his though he's just done a long lease on the land
  10. Thanks for that I think it confirms what my head is telling me. 3 years ago I may well have just gone out and bought stuff and then had it sat not doing very much. With a business head I think just hire in help for any tree work and make my money on the things I know best(the other stuff) I need to find a climber to start to work with.
  11. My first business is domestic gardening with all that entails. I have moved into commercial grounds maintenance over the last year. Parish council grass cutting, schools, managed housing estates etc. I have just moved into a bigger yard a I have too much kit now. And I would like to start tendering for some more jobs that have bigger grounds. I have not tendered for any jobs with anything other than ground pole based pruning. And I think there is money to be made not just from the tree work but the access it may give to the rest of it,(hedges, grass cutting etc etc) So far I have enough work for three of us but would like to grow the business as I don't want to be doing this forever. (So I want it to start paying me back after all these years of hard work) So to ever achieve my dream of retiring at a reasonable age i need to move forward. I should add that I would like to know what I'm doing regarding trees rather than just employing a climber and ground staff. Because if I don't know then how can I know they are doing it right if that makes sense.
  12. Hi all business Is going well at the moment with new clients coming in on the commercial side. Now I'm looking to start offering tree services to clients probably on a sub contract basis to start with, as it will take time to get the required certification to offer it myself. So the question is what tickets do I need to do first? Should I start by doing ground tickets(whatever they are cross cutting small felling chipper? Etc) and get a climber in as and when nessacery. I am looking at doing this properly and I don't want to fail so I know I need to take time on this. I do like the idea of climbing trees but is it worth the time and expense. Or do I just by the kit as required and employ people to do the job!(a big risk I feel to start with) I imagine I'm looking at investing £10000 plus and wondering if it's worth the trouble.(but I do think it would be a good asset for my Business to be able to offer tree work) Sorry for the mixed message there but that's how I feel right now. Any pointers would be great Many thanks Richard
  13. Saw a daffodil in flower last week under a bay window. And loads of snow drops
  14. I can't even imagine hoe tough it would be to get something like this past safty checks. How could you make them safe if they are to be put together at home? I like the idea just think it's near impossible to get past the regulations
  15. If it's a diesel white smoke means too much fuel ie not getting burnt.
  16. Thanks for that if I go for one it's going to be the top one without electric start I think. A bit less to go wrong and I'm quite capable of pulling the rope so it will be having the drive on it. What are they like on really bumpy ground? Many thanks Richard
  17. Many thanks for replies got a fair bit of striking to do this season ,round a football pitch edge and some footpaths etc. and I thought this may be easier than my cow horn brushcutter . I like the sound of the 20 inch plus cut on them.
  18. Hi hope this is in the right place. I'm looking at buying a wheeled trimmer of some kind like the DR trimmer Like this one http://www.drpower.com/productimages/image.axd/i.trm875sd/w.1000/h.1000/tr3+8.75+fpt+b+s+es+dem+pro-xl+sp+-+50st_l.jpg Anyone got one or similar and if so are they any good? Many thanks in advance Richard
  19. Air filter maybe, by anti stall do you mean engine is hunting? It so may be a fuel problem, how long has it been sat?
  20. What about the kaaz equivalent of the Honda you like the look of, I'm going for the kaaz pro roller this year I stead of the Honda pro roller. If you go pro spec on the kaaz the gearbox is supposed to be uprated now on the kaaz. Stronger and 25%faster so I've been told by the dealer. Worth looking at anyway
  21. Scale of bonus probably wrong but again I don't care if it's their money not ours so to speak. The UK would not keep it the investors would so it makes no difference to us other than higher tax receipts.(from the bonus) football should be banned:001_tt2: But you're dead right the biggest problem is the difference in income from highest paid to the lowest paid. The dailymail doesn't help either:lol:
  22. Are all bank bonuses bad or just the ones from bailed out banks? I personally don't care if the bank is making money they can spend it how they like. As for the bailed out banks that's different. They should pay back UK Plc first. How much do footballers get paid, should that be stopped too? I think the point I'm making is that the banks have become an easy scapegoat for all the country's woes when successive governments have been ********ing things up for decades
  23. Have a look at the iseki hi lift dump those are supposed to be as good as the etesia.
  24. I would have thought closer to 325 for 2 man team 8hour day with that kit depends on what size ride on. I have a ransomes 3 gang mower and it goes out for a bit more than the tractor mower(ie cuts way more) but the site has to be big enough or it's just hassle.
  25. Really pleased it went well for you today Paul. I've read about 400 pages of this thread so far a good read. Only butting into thread as I live only 2 miles from riseholme college. So I was thinking about you when I drove past today. Who knows what it bring:thumbup: Keep trying mate
