  1. Do you have a link where to buy the spare wheels? Thanks
  2. Another for the Lidl one. Really easy to set up and very well built. German made. (Not Chinese)
  3. Much to agree with there, although, not everyone has the opportunity or resources to commit to the long term education/training route. Like someone else has said, we have to start somewhere. A fair percentage of homeowners/customers (sadly) aren’t really bothered about what is best for the tree, or if the operative is highly educated/trained. They just want to buy more daylight and less leaves to rake up in autumn. While this is the case, it will always be a race to the bottom. (Edit... Didn’t realise the OP was based in the US)
  4. As others have said. If you have the work booked, try and hire an older, seasoned subby climber. This would be the best way to get a ‘mini apprenticeship’. If your fit and 30, you’ve got plenty of years climbing left providing you look after yourself. I’m not sure what tickets you already have but CS30/31 CS38/39 are essentials and CS41 rigging is ideal. Even if you start with just CS38 (climbing and aerial rescue) to cover the subby, you will still have to do the other tickets to get you working in the tree. Stay safe. [emoji106]
  5. Yes, that’s right.
  6. With rigging equipment yes. Just mark the column ‘PPE one person’ for climbing items. Or ‘PPE two persons’. For rescue kit.
  7. Here’s what I use. [emoji106].
  8. Reluctantly voted for a really crap party through ‘gritted teeth’, but only in the hope that an even worse one didn’t get in. There were only 2 party’s standing where I live. I did consider writing BREXIT NOW across the paper as many did but I’ll bide my time for the European vote for that, so that it actually means something. Really looking forward to seeing the results of the European elections for lots of reasons.
  9. Gutted for you Mark. She was obviously blessed to have you and the life you gave her.

  11. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it Mark. I will always regret ‘ringing up’ the last big MP we did.
  12. I were just admiring thy minarets. [emoji41]
  13. Subaru Forester. You’ll get a decent one and change left over with that budget.
  14. 346 if a good one is available or if not a 550.
  15. Personally, I think a verbal and written agreement and understanding between the in-house inspector and the person within the firm accountable for finances, that all equipment needs to be checked and if necessary, replaced regardless of financial constraints, should suffice. I understand the time constraints factor though. Giving insurance companies the ‘leeway’ to re-interpret the guidelines seems like a slippery slope to me. They get away with enough as it is.
  16. Martyn, I’d be interested to hear on what grounds the insurance companies are refusing to cover a fully qualified and competent person to perform a task he is qualified to do. (?!) (Not trying to do you out of any business, mind)
  17. Oldham?
  18. As long as you can demonstrate that you can perform your LOLER inspections ‘without fear or favour’ it is permissible to inspect your own kit.
  19. As far as I can make out, she just didn’t agree with her very young son being subjected to compulsory sex education and wanted to voice her objections. Her job was at a different school and her work record was exemplary. She got sacked on the strength of one anonymous email and the panel that sacked her could find no evidence of misconduct. My point is, we are no longer free to determine our own views in this country. I would have been surprised at you being ok with this Dave.
  20. Hopefully she would give a child the same support regardless of their sexual orientation or worldview. To answer your question, if I was a lesbian child seeking support, it would be more important that I could put my trust in the supporters character than what her own personal preferences were. The report states she had an unblemished record. Personally I think it’s a shame that the thought police and social nazis have caused an apparently good person to lose their job and means of providing for her family just because she had a conflicting view on her own child’s wellbeing. Isn’t it great to know we live in an ‘inclusive’ society ?!
  21. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6925837/School-assistant-43-sacked-posting-petition-against-transgender-teaching-sons-school.html And there’s me thinking we live in a free country. Whatever your views on this, it really shows we’re heading down a dark path. The panel that sacked her even admitted there was no real evidence against her. (Just for the record, I am not against transgender people at all.) I do notice that the Muslim people protesting against it in Bham were given a free pass to do so.

    An easy one

Nice one Reg. would like to see a demo of you do that, as I’m always concerned about getting the bar caught in the kerf when it starts to tip. How big a diameter can you go with that method? [emoji106]

    An easy one

Very enjoyable video Reg. liked how you sent all the sticks down flat. Did you use a humbolt or an undermining cut to get them to fall like that?
