  1. We've tried lots of different sizes on ours and come to the conclusion that it is just a crap saw. When you compare it to a 560xp it becomes apparent how lacking it is.

    zigzag mk3

Been on my Mk2 since last summer and it's holding up nicely. Glad I got this instead of the spiderjack. I also use a zillon on my side strop which is great too. Even if my zigzag did end up developing cracks I'd still get another.
  3. Haix air power gold. V. Comfy Bit soft for spikes though.
  4. Hi Jon Roasting a whole pig on our new hogmaster oven Big barbecue and some well earned rest Timon
  5. Great footage Steve! Love the "no nonsense" cuts! Great that the tree was retained as well. Fair play mate.
  6. Hi I didn't go to the college but went to the school there at Foxhole in '79 I drove by there a couple of years ago but it's not a school anymore. I play drums in a band with a girl who studied music there. Was a really cool place. Timon
  7. Run an 02 transit tipper.. Really don't like the look of the new ones. Also a 25 year old mog. I bet the cost of fixing the new ones is eye watering... Parts for the old ones are dear enough.
  8. Fair play Steve! Looking forward to seeing the video footage.
  9. In this situation a lot depends on who the client is. Sometimes a day rate can be agreed around how long you expect to it to take. Any longer than an agreed time frame and you could come to an arrangement whereby any subsequent days beyond that agreed time frame would be charged at a reduced rate. That way the client feels like they have some protection against a firm trying to "drag the work out" and you have the reassurance that if you have underestimated the job you don't completely lose out. I have found this to be a really useful method of quoting big jobs that go beyond your current experience. I.e. When you're business is growing and you are attracting bigger jobs. Doing it this way affords some protection for both parties. Again, a lot will depend on who the client is. I hope that made sense!
  10. Which is true, But, you can combat a lot of these things. For example I have arthritis in my knees and some other joints but decided after taking anti inflammatory drugs and hydrocortisone injections that only brought temporary relief and didn't really help so I decided to join a gym class and that really has reversed the condition. Attitude is a very important factor in how we age and words are very powerful. Fair play for still climbing at 51.....
  11. I too would love to still be climbing at 65.... I'm 50 in a couple of months and I've only been climbing (qualified) for a year. I've since lost a stone and a half in weight and I'm getting quicker not slower. (In fact much quicker). I recon I have realistically got 10 productive years left in the tank. In a previous life I did window cleaning (with ladders) the guy that taught me is 70 and still has a round, He is rapid and there aren't many that can keep up with him. Beyond trees I also work with addicts, charity fundraising work, and public speaking. I had the pleasure of meeting Reg Coates last year at the APF and he told me "don't let anyone tell you you are too old to climb" Nice one Huck......

    My accident

Thinking of you Sean, lifting you up in prayers as often as you come to mind. Keep fighting mate. Timon
  13. A very big difference. Particularly if you already have a full time mechanic on the books.
  14. I heard they're bringing a top handled version out this year
  15. Saw the Northgate guy on Friday. Transit double cab tipper with chip box. £120 + vat P/W. Open ended hire no contract.
  16. Yes, that should cover all of the (approved) diversity boxes quite nicely. Isn't it ironic how the people who shout the loudest about equality turn out to be the worst bigots when someone dares to step outside of their "agendas".
  17. Hi Jon, Dry and sunny today in the Midlands Timon
  18. , Did a horse chestnut crown thin the other day. The buds were closed when I went up in the morning and they had all opened up when I got down.
  19. I'm meeting with the local Northgate rep in the morning... I'll let you know how it goes..
  20. Hi Jon, scraping ice off the car the day before yesterday and then it was about 21c in the afternoon.
  21. Thanks, we'll be doing a fair bit of mileage so we need to ask all the right questions when the rep comes on Friday to see us. Any more thoughts or tips would be gratefully recieved. Thanks
  22. We are looking into leasing a couple of vans. Does anyone have any experience of this? What are the advantages over simply taking a loan out? Etc...
  23. I used to love cycling but I wouldn't ride on the road now.... Far too risky. Too many people like me driving about!
  24. What I am saying is that when Thatcher closed the coal mines it had a huge knock on effect. A significant proportion of the people who are on sickness benefit there have substance/alcohol issues. Social poverty and deprivation are fertile breeding grounds for all sorts of nasty stuff.
  25. That's right.... In Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales 1 in 4 people are on sickness benefit! Not 1 in 4 of those on benefits but 1 in 4 of the total population. What was the real cost of Thatcher and co closing the coal mines?
