  3. Silky cuts mainly. Cut the tail of my strop with my saw (twice) Used a brand new Marlow venom on a conifer job and mullered the spliced end. cut the bad bit off earlier tonight..... Back to a bowline again now. One of these days I'll learn to splice.....
  4. Nice one Jammy. That one will probably outlast a brand new one!
  5. This forum is great for learning new techniques... I'll remember that one
  6. How frustrating. We bought a new one recently but I let our new climber have it because my old one works great and I don't want to change it for one that might not work as well or crack. I handed my old 560 down and kept the new one though!
  7. Do you climb with it running? I watched a subby (a very good one) carry out a big reduction on a large tree, he didn't switch his saw off once.

  18. Sorry, I'm not tracking with you here.... I thought you said Bristol /SWest ??
  19. I'm in the Midlands. S. Bham. I've done these for a few weddings. Silver birch is nice and seems to hold together. You'd have to get them picked up but I'm guessing it's a bit far for you. There are members on here in that area that might be able to help.
  20. Where are you based?
  21. Gonna start back doing tabata classes at the gym and me and the mrs are going to try and eat paleo as much as possible.
  22. NPTC have some as well.
  23. Mines been great. Still in one piece after 18 months. I rarely drop it onto the strop tho'. It only seems to be tricky to start after I let someone else use it. Guess that's down to the autotune.
  24. 90ps is very underpowered for a 3.5T tipper IMO. We've had a fair few of them. Engine is always screaming when full and weighing in at 2.6T unladen they are always full Solid flywheel conversion is a must. Get a good mechanic to check the timing chain and guides are in good nick as they are prone to fail without warning. Sorry if I sound negative but the sad thing about transits is they aren't very good really and finding an alternative isn't easy. When our current one needs replacing I'm going to try a Japanese truck next... They can't be any worse!
  25. We have a transit/timberwolf and a mog/pto chipper and most of our work is domestic urban/suburban, I'll go to the mog 9 times out of 10. More compact, chips quicker, carries more, gets into tighter spots etc. very versatile unit.
