  1. A interesting mix, will have to speak to our dealer and see what the cost is, budget is not bottomless:blushing:
  2. That was what i wondered, never wished i had them up till now, si i think i will go back into my cave and not try this new fangled stuff
  3. Go with a forst, if it brakes they will help you quickly and with a smile, customer service is a big part of any machine and they are GOOD
  4. Do they do any good to help with vibration issues? I cant see it gets cold enough in this country to justify them but what do you think? Looking at a new 661 and wondered if there was any good reason for spending the extra?
  5. I tightened mine a couple of week ago and thought nowt of it:001_rolleyes: Maybe i should of done:laugh1:
  6. Cheers Chris, that's what i'm looking at
  7. Thanks. Ive tried the Stiens, they are a big step up from what ive put up with for 4 years, but somthing didnt seem quite right. I didn't want to adjust them to see as they were on loan It would be nice to try before buying but we havn't got a dealer for climbing gear on the iow I will take the chance on the Geckos i think:thumbup:
  8. Ive had enough of my cheap chiense spikes that hurt my feet and give me a bruised calf if im in them all day:thumbdown: Im looking at either the Stien X2 or the Distel Gecko. Can any one help if one is better than the other or come up with a better option for the £200ish mark Cheers
  9. We are booked up into the middle of november with prob another 4 weeks work quoted this week, evan if i only get half of it im booked till the end of Nov and ive not had a eve with out at least one quote in the last 2 weeks. Its all good, i brought my first chipper back in the spring and it seems to be paying off
  10. We use the local paper, we found that just a small lineage add gets as much interest as a bigger box add
  11. Having worked both they is quite a clear difference on the infeed. the flywheel etc may well be very simular but i will stand up a say the forst is a far nicer machine to use:thumbup: Thats why i brought one:biggrin: It will take something fantastic to get me away from owning a forst chipper at the mo.
  12. The 6" Forst is better than the jenson in my opionon:thumbup1: Mainly on the infeed, but the whole machine is just a bit better thought out
  13. ive just got a lock jack, brillent bit of kit. ive just come away from blakes
  14. Congratulations to you all. After the service we have just received we are not surprised! Now keep up the good work
  15. Out of date it may be, but if we stop re pollarding old pollards wont we end up with weak unions that will cause more damage to the tree when they snap than re pollarding every few years?
  16. Ive never abused that saw,in the tree im mathodical and sensable and more to the point it was a lot of money to me and i strugled and worked hard to buy the best chipper and top handle i could aford Its only half way through its second chain at 3 months old, i was stood on a pole and went to start it (warm) and the whole top handle came away Ive mow got it back again and am £200 down on postage costs and the repair, if thats a warenty im a purple flying pig Thanks Husky, next time i shall just drop my trousers and bend over for you Or never buy another husky product where i can avoid it. Rant over, normall service will carry on shortly(inc the bad spelling:laugh1:)
  17. Not the husky 540xp it is a cracking saw to use but give it three months and it will fall to bits. The whole top handle inc the carb snaped off mine when i went to start it! Husky refused to repair it so it now owes me best part of £700 for a pile of c**p buy a stihl or a echo. It sounds like a 201 will last well or the echco is cheap enough to be able to get another if it doesnt last. I wish i had never owned the husky :-(
  18. A bracket on each bit with a captive nut on one side and a bolt through will do it, half a dozen of them will be enough if they are of a decent size, if its only a couple of times a year twist locks could seize up any way
  19. Im running a mk5 transit crew cab. with me, gear and fuel in ive got a payload of just over a ton. Ive not looked at axle wights but i doubt we go home many days under weight. Ive only got a licence for 3.5t plus large trailer. I have toyed with mounting a chipper on a truck and chipping into a tipping trailer, i could carry more weight legaly but they are access issues as we have a lot of narrow driveways and crap roads on the iow This also brings issues on the days you want the gear but not the chipper What the answer is im not sure, hence why im still running the old mk5 transit. Being over weight is ok, it all averages out as we were empty going the other way (Dont worry its only a joke)
  20. My husky is going to cost me £200 to repair at 3 months old as husky wont do it under warenty:thumbdown:, i might bin it and buy one
  21. Nice One - Cheers
  22. Has any one got a standard risk assessment that they would be so kind as to share? Or a pointer as to where to find one? I've tried the search function but not had any joy We are not a big enough set up to have to do them legally but we are at the point of moving on and up and want things to be right. Cheers Will
  23. Until they go wrong and Husky refuse to fix them under warranty
  24. I used to drive one at a job i subbied to. It was a 02 reg, heavy truck but as its a bigger truck thats down rated to 3.5t you can keep on loading it up and it doesnt look any different and still pulls the same. Brillent bit of kit but i reckon it drank more dieel than my transit. Loved it
  25. The husky will fall apart quickly and wont be repaired on warenty, before it falls apart it is a nice saw but i would buy a stihl you will get back up when/if it goes wrong
