  1. I can kind of identify with that attitude although my story is very different as my mum's 93 and now in a home and my 2 sisters and me have just cleared her house.. nearly everything she held precious ended up in the dump as it had little value to anyone but her. She was obsessed with the [ dysfunctional ] family tree and which tbo I've no interest in, particularly as it was recorded in a very similar fashion to the covid stats in that the whole female line going back hundreds of years was totally unrecorded... which to me renders half of the story totally worthless, incompletable and untraceable.. as is probably most folks. Therefore I'm glad not to be burdened with the speculative distant past, and I only look forward.. not that I like wot I see😄 All the best to you and yours for the coming year👍
  2. Stare them out, the buggers, they're testing you.. and a prosperous new year to you and yours👍
  3. Thanks, and a happy New Year to you as well, cheers, hic👍
  4. What ever it is, rotten wood will never burn well as most the calories have been consumed by the fungi, and if burnt it will probably smell bad as well, once the fungi gets a hold it's unstoppable imo, sorry to say... cheers.
  5. Yep King Dick tools proudly made in Birmingham since 1856 and still going, great tools and mostly what I used when I was young and learning my trade👍
  6. My neighbour stacked a couple of cubes of split wood { birch ] in a large double garage against my advice, it did eventually get to the point where it could be burned after a couple of years but it got very mouldy and some which was against the wall had started to rot, so not really a good idea imo.
  7. It's convenient, and to me convenience is the thin end of a very thin wedge, if you ask the question 'can I be switched of remotely' the answer is absolutely not... and to me that the means just the opposite, but I may be wrong🙄.
  8. Haha, not herd that since I was a wee boy, and I can't remember anything about it except it meant an elephant... was it Winnie the pooh?
  9. I'd love ton see what was built along the shoreline when sea levels were 400ft+ lower during the iceage, also Antarctica free of ice... and tons of other stuff👍
  10. I'd like to go back 15 minutes so I could walk to the pub before it was sleeting heavily😁
  11. Yep, perhaps this is the case to begin with but there really is no allowance for individual intellect or morals in todays corporate hostile to human life control of everything.. like they say it's ' for your own safety ' when they try to force something on you and are expected to think.. ' that's wonderful, thanks so much ' I micro manage my own affairs very well as I always have done, so I'm therefore very aware when others try to feck me over. Cheers.
  12. To me this is only the start of the onslaught of severe tech overreach in our homes where private companies have the ability [ with government say so ] to monitor, control and ultimately cut off our energy supply from afar. I assume that I'm not the only one being badgered to take a ' smart ' meter with all the convenience and childish attributes that it comes with.. whereas in reality the whole push for these things is about control. The actual end game of this atm as far as I can tell, is to read the meter every 1/2 hour with constantly changing tariffs where we will be 'educated' via pricing to use energy when 'they' want us to.... ie the cheapest time to cook yer dinner or do the washing may be 3 in the morning ! As an individual growing up I always looked forward the the onset and application of the latest science and technology in the belief that it would improve life for everyone, but [ as it now turns out ] it seems that all that's actually happening is that any real innovation gets stifled and big tech is more and more able to have our short and curly's in a strangle hold.... whilst at the spewing out the message that it's for our own advantage or safety👎
  13. +1 for planting a new tree asap and enjoy watching it grow, Birch grows quite fast. Bearing in mind the old adage that the best time to plant a new tree was 20 years ago😊
  14. Jeez, the world has gone Feckin bonkers.. Seasons greetings to you anyway.... if that's still a thing😄
  15. I'm right there with you 100% on this subject, and there are many other real scientists and open minds saying exactly the same but as I see it most folk are deaf, dumb and blind to what's being forced upon them... probably always been the case but it doesn't bode well for our immediate future..... anyway, A happy Christmas to you and yours
  16. I like to think that there's lots of us👍
  17. Aye, your not wrong there, I'm generally not a country guy but these 2 are a big exception, spent a few hours today getting my head around the chords for Witchita [ after @stubby's input ] which are sublime and way different to my norm and very easily rewarding. As they say, every day is a school day. Seasons greetings to you and yours👍
  18. Yep, the lucky man had 5 wives or more correctly 4 and one long term, but I know what you mean about Witchita lineman a great Jimmy Webb song, he was quite a prolific song writer in the country scene👍 Ok just had a look at the chords for said song and at first glance it don't look straight forward. WICHITA LINEMAN CHORDS (ver 7) by Glen Campbell @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com TABS.ULTIMATE-GUITAR.COM All lyrics and breaks with their accompanying chords and bass notes. Tablature of guitar solo. Full chord legend included.
  19. Yeah, I couldn't get it out of my head after hearing it for the first time a few months ago so I decided to give it a go... and I generally haven't been a country kind of a guy playing wise as it always all seemed too difficult and a totally different technique to get my fingers around. The song itself is quite catchy and rewarding reasonably quickly once you get the words hammered in.. and so far I'm about a 1/3 through the solo { the easy..er bit } at a slower speed, but building🙂 This guy gives an accurate for note by note practice also bearing in mind you can slow down YouTube even more. And seasons greetings to you and yours, cheers.. 👍
  20. Locally a choice of 3 natural uncontaminated mountain springs most of the time, beautiful sweet water and totally different to what comes oot the tap... I can't see how you could criticise this. As our bodies are approximately 60% H2o then how on earth could you argue that water contaminated with numerous chems is in any way better? Granted that plastic bottles are not an ideal way of storing spring water or probably anything else, but as plastic contamination is almost unavoidable these days I'd kinda treat it as a separate problem / issue for discussion. I'm not really interested in an argument about this, but I'll happily discuss the pro's and con's of ' wot's in the water ' with yourself or anyone else.. if you disagree with anything that I say. Cheers.
  21. It's the 'Eastenders' war for dummies, and it highlights how little ' they ' care about the lives that they're destroying and how WE need to watch our feckin backs..., particularly in light of the treacherous bastards that are currently in both sides of government here and around the world and are deliberately and unpicking everything of society that they can in order to cause chaos... imo
  22. Well I'm in Glasgow atm and looking around me I don't think very much of the flesh would be deemed fit for human consumption... after all you wouldn't be allowed to feed farm animals the shyte that most seem to guzzle down. But on the other hand if rendered down , I see a fuel supply to keep me warm🙄
  23. Whilst I won't dip into your thoughts on birth control, I will say that since when some years ago I did look into what's actually put into Scottish water I no longer drink or cook with it. I don't believe that any of the Halogens are compatible with living tissue, human or otherwise, and fecking with what comes out your convenient household tap is very easy and effective. This group of elements are known to effect the intellect, emotions and much much more.... yet most of the modern world gulps in their daily trace dose of them with any tap water that's consumed without the slightest notion that they might be being medicated. I think I noticed that you said before that you were up for much more plain speaking on any subject, so..........
  24. OK, maybe that was a thought tooo far, but it was a thought never the less...
  25. That was worrying me as well until I realised that our forward thinking leaders are busy garrisoning fit young men in smart hotels all around the country just in case they're needed.👎
