  1. If you are thinking makita why not go for a dolmar. Shavey on here is the man to talk to.
  2. Seriously considering a dolmar 9010:thumbup: Having a demo of a 661 next week and then will make a choice. Wife still rattling on about an eternity ring and the Hoover packed in tonight so need to find the keys to the kids piggy bank:lol:
  3. If I was to go for the big makita where is best to get one and are parts easy to come by?
  4. Some interesting feedback. The saw will be used for ringing up big lumps. Never considered makita before so will have a look. Did think about the skip chain but liking the idea of keeping 461 on a 20". If I asked the wife for 2 saws I think she would possibly ring me up with them She has been hinting at an eternity ring though...................
  5. Think Scotland might surprise people. They won't win it but think they will be in the top 3. As for a winner I'm going with France because they are due a good season. England will struggle early but improve as players return.
  6. Not really sure what to do. The 461 does handle the big stuff but doing it often surely can't be that good for it. If I buy a new one I'll never have to get shot of it cos I have 2 wood burners in the house and a pretty endless supply of big wood if needed. (In laws own a wood on top of a windy hill). Was probably trying to find out what everyone else would use for that size timber. 461 still has a year on warranty so not letting spud have it yet anyway.
  7. Come on mods thought there were rules on here!
  8. Yeah that would be the plan 28/30. Takes long enough to sharpen 25"
  9. Definitely won't be getting an 880! A 660/1 would be a big investment considering I have a full time job and the firewood is a rather time consuming second job. Have to be sure that it would be justifiable
  10. Most of it is closer to the 3ft but there is a good number of 5ft oak. I plan on keeping the 461 as its a lovely saw but was thinking 661 390/5 would be more useable than the 880 3120.
  11. Have around 50 ton of big butts lying in my yard ranging from 3-5 foot diameter. Currently using a 461 on a 25" bar. Did have a 064 but got rid as the vibes were killing my hands. Should I be thinking of going up a size of saw to a 661 or 390/5 or stick with what I've got? I have a fairly regular supply of this size wood. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.
  12. Got this as a tip at Christmas. Was worried it would be petrol but was surprised that it is lovely. Best blend I've had.
  13. Having never climbed a tree but having watched countless videos of dismantles I found this video great. It gave a good insight into the less "showbiz" side of tree surgery. Been on site plenty of times when we have contractors in doing work like this but the ground view does not offer the insight that these videos do. Music was good also. Thank you for posting it.
  14. Using an adjustable probably causes uneven teeth:lol:
  15. I'm beside Fettercairn. I could supply you fresh felled spruce, cut to whatever length you want if that helps you any
  16. How much wood are you looking for?
  17. Cool film. Some hardy souls
  18. My sentiments exactly. :thumbup1:
  19. And the shoes to match.
  20. I just added on another thread that I think I've been had as my 461 looks totally different to this baby. I'll have to phone the dealer and asks why mine don't look like this
  21. I think I've been had!!!! My stihl ms 461 looks completely different to that one. Has my official stihl dealer sold me a fake ha ha ha
  22. Hi David. Looks like a good start. However hedge is spelled wrong. Just a small thing.
  23. T-shirt arrived yesterday
  24. Bought one before Christmas and was out all morning in heavy snow and never leaked at all. Very impressed. It came from Jonses as well
  25. Yes, Derek?
