  2. I agree with GazN, we use all the leylandii we cut ourselves and its great burning, also leylandii is perceived as low value wood so clients usually happy to see it go off site, free burning for me.
  3. As part of our insurance package I have an insurance which pays out a weekly sum for the duration of any injury/illness, or a partial sum if able to do a few day per week only on convalesence. I broke my leg a few years ago and was really happy to have an income, What I got for that one time would more than cover the cost of insurance for a heap of years.
  4. Cost per m2 depends on quality and frequency of cut, be it rough cut, uncollected mowing, or collected mowing 7 day 10 or 14 day cycles, each demands a different price, I agree with Richard dedicated mowing machines are the way to go if you can get the work for one. a good second hand machine would be a good compromise to start with
  5. Brilliant bits of kit, we use them for challenge competions offroad, and for work, worth their weight in gold I believe, we use 500m ones for work and they are good for a few days depending of the amount of chat
  6. We bought one of these and I know its not a backpack, but it has made 2 backpack redundant. Shifts everything in double quick time, a job clearing leaves using 2 blowers used to take a couple of hours is done in 30 minutes with this and only one operator as well https://www.billygoat.com/na/en_us/product-catalog/blower/f13-contractor-municipal.html
  7. We came across this!. needless to say there was an organised panic :-)
  8. we have a minimium charge for emergency work, so regardless of the job its 4 hours @t+1/2 minimium, every hour after this is charged as time during working hours, and t+1/2 if outside normal working hrs.
  9. Two arrests as ?50k worth of stolen industrial and gardening tools seized at Dublin port Hope this helps someone.
  10. not the first time I have had to defend this, thanks to my parents back in the 50's before it became famous this side of the pond
  11. I knew a lad when we were starting out who had a sweet distribution business, he had a brand new Merc as his daily car, but had an old Hillman avenger he used when collecting money, his point was no one had any sympathy for him if they saw him driving the Merc.
  12. We have used this with success, on oil and coolant pipes https://eshop.wurth.ie/Rapid-repair-tape-HR-SEALTPE-WELD-SIL-BLCK-05MM-254MMX365M/0985077230.sku/en/GB/EUR/
  13. Yes, if not claimed then they are usually auctioned off. To be honest a lot of the stuff is domestic but there are a few stihl, and huskeys in there.
  14. Link to the Garda site showing items recovered, lots of saws, strimmers blow guns etc might be worth a look if missing stuff https://www.flickr.com/photos/gardasiochana/page1
  15. [ame= ] [/ame]Great machine these collect the arisings after a few days drying or run over the area again after a few days,

Look for one of the copy chemicals we use Rosate which is similar to roundup but at €80.00 for 20 ltrs (legally) its hard to pass by and works as good as roundup, Here in Ireland we can still use Pistol on hard areas which had residual effect but a bit more pricy than straight Glyphosate (roundup)
  17. 500M BT Interphone Bluetooth Motorcycle Motorbike Helmet Multi Intercom Headsets | eBay We use these cheap and cheerful. good for competition offroad as well
  18. Parts for small Kubota and John deere are expensive, hard to justify if you are only doing an acre, commercial ride on's like JD X595 have rear pto (option) and Cat 0 lifting arms,
  19. Buy a Volvo seems they have sorted the issue electronically [ame= ] [/ame]
  20. I feel anything you say regarding the hedge or arisings will be taken as sour grapes by you as you did not get the work. Be confident in your own ability, if you and your client are happy when you leave a job thats all that matters, best advertising is word of mouth.
  21. We use the technical helmets all year and find them really good too
  22. Here are anti snagging vests https://www.hivis.co.uk/pull-apart-yellow-hi-vis-vest.html
  23. Have you asked the client what he wants? client might have requested low cut height. Just a thought.
  24. With hand mowers driven wheel we use World WYZ20H, cheapish Chinese units replace them after 2 years as by then they are worn out, In my opinion expensive small mowers are not worth the cost, our mowers wheels and decks wear out before the engines, after a couple of years its into the skip and start again, this way we have little or no down time on the smaller units Irish Mowers - World petrol lawnmowers Ireland
  25. Not exactly what you were asking but the theory is the same
