  1. Stayed in Derbyshire at the weekend and lidl had plastic bags of logs and kindling ,looked OK stuff but both imported from Latvia.Thought they were trying to promote more british and local produce.
  2. Sorry got it wrong should be Used Construction & Farm Equipment - Mascus USA | Used Heavy Machinery
  3. Hi as you are over in france have a look on wwwmascus.com should find lots of stuff there some probably in france too.Cheers Chris.
  4. Yes some even want them only 6" long. chap even asked for them all to be 7.5" long, try to get them to take my standard 10" well split but some still insist on shorter. Cheers Chris
  5. Hi where abouts is the wood located in the country as I am in west wales. Cheers Chris.
  6. Hi got a 03 plate D22 navara king cab had it 8 years now only problem with mine has been the starter motors there tiny and a horrible job to change on the 3rd now.Had 100k on it now just over 200k and yust sailed through another mot. Been brilliant other than the starters, must have been lucky and got a good one. Cheers Chris.
  7. Decide which delivery suits you ie loose loads or bags then buy by volume but looks like you will have some working out to do with all the different sizes. 1 cubic metre of loose logs will equate to about 0.7 of stacked ones roughly. Hope this helps, Chris.
  8. Where is the chain drive to get the timber to the processor,do you have to manualy roll them to the front if so seems like it only does half the job.Like the look of their log grab for the front loader. Cheers Chris.
  9. Customers with a 5kw stove by and large dont either. The Transaw has a nice splitter arrangement where by the splitter lifts giving 3 different split rates but that is a fair bit more costly than 360. I am of the opinion that the 12 way wedge from the Posch 3200 should be an option on 360, indeed it may be but I have not seen it shown as such. A I think if you put a 12 way knife on the 360 it would be for ever jammed up as it only has 12 tonnes of splitting power so probably why they supply a 6 way. I use a 10 way on my palax and that has 18 tonnes and on hard knotty beech it realy tests it ,but not failed yet.
  10. Is that price delivered in .was it 25 ton load or stack measure. Cheers Chris.
  11. Hi what sort of diameter is it and what length is it cut too. What percentage of it is chestnut. Thanks Chris.
  12. Most hardwoods will last for a couple of years if kept of the wet ground and in a nice airy exposed area.Got a stack of red oak about 3 to 4 years old still really solid no rot at all but 35 % in the centre.Birch will not last long if all the bark is on as it will rot from the centre out but if it has been done with a harvester will dry quickly and hard. Cheers Chris.
  13. 1 metre in soft wood or 1.25 in nice hardwood or if bent and horrible then 1 metre to mix in with the softwood for the boiler.
  14. Hi William is this a question or are you looking to buy one. Got a 30t binderberger horizontal with log loader, great for breaking down big timber to billets up to 1.2 m or just load on rings as long as they are cut straight.Anything too big and just put straight on with crane.Got 2 4 and 6 way splitter.Very good build quality. Cheers Chris.
  15. Hi Chris sorry but youre not going to get much of a machine for that money ,unless it s homemade.5 foot is a bit of an odd size most of the horizontal ones are 1.2 m or 4 foot and you want the 30 tonne ones posch and binderberger probably the best but double your price.Go up to a 2.5m one for crane feed and start at about £14000 and up.Wanted to change my 30t binderberger for a 2.5m one but can t justify cost. When this size probably min 40tonne. Cheers Chris
  16. I agree the shows will always want straight softwood to process because it shows there machine off well ,would you be impressed with them stuggling with big flares that won t go through or bent and twisted stuff slowing it down. I think the tajfun has a problem with the oil pipe, maybe thats been modified now also one chap on here reckons to use a chain every 10 to 20 tonnes, maybe I have missunderstood him but thats chucking away a chain a day. Cheers Chris
  17. Hi quite agree about tct blades had mine sharpened last July still going well haveing done 600 tonnes ,this is how it has performed for the last 4 years. Used wilsons myself when they were the palax dealers back in the 90s and had similar good service,Only left when they gave up palax then went to caladonian also I find them very good as well, just traded for another palax. The posch seems very popular wilsons sell a lot of them, but for a tct blade machine there is limited choice,Posch ,Palax, Fuelwoods new one Hakki pilkies copy of the palax 100,or I think some of the big americn ones have blades . If you like the posch and get the right deal and service from wilsons then stick with it,tell john your looking at others and get a better deal. Hope this helps Chris.
  18. Hi Ive had sfew loads like that ,but at the right money .A lot of it can be made into quite good timber with a decent saw anything over 40 cm quarter on the 30T binderberger then through the processor, anything horribly bent and all the broken bits and debris can go in the biomass boiler.I know it is a bit slow but if it is free or cheap enough it still makes sense. Cheers Chris
  19. Seems like another electronic thing to go wrong, what happens when it decides not to work the log does not stop to be cut.Shame as the rest of the machine looks good.
  20. Hi what do you call a rotary saw what does it do. He could get a machine from posc that just processes the billets not sure how much ,I thought about £6k. Cheers Chris
  21. Hi a good choice I bought the binderberger 30t machine in 2002 just the same as the posch .They are so easy the lifter does all the hard work all you have to do is use the controls, anything too big for the lifter I just put straight on with the crane.Over the years I have tried to find bits to stop it but it just keeps on going.Have you got it with a 6 way axe as well this would speed up your billet production. One thing they work better on green semi green wood as old dried wood will tend to shatter especialy beech. Sure you will be pleased with it. Cheers Chris
  22. Hi Ian if you still have them give me a ring got my own transport 07970 065953 cheers Chris
  23. Looks good and like the way the blade comes out from behind but how does it measure the length as there is no stop for the log, also any one know the price.Presumably being called a 350 it cuts up to 350mm logs . Cheers Chris
