  1. Could be drought stress, that being said the acorns weren't any smaller than usual.
  2. But it's not in a plastic tray with an expiration date I'll hear them cry. Don't give just eats ideas, suppose it's better than delivering McDonalds
  3. Well someone has to supervise the apprentice. I'm not allowed after last time, that's why I work alone 🙂
  4. Well we all pay in a manner of speaking. Not a drone, just a self employed farming, engineering and firewood type. It's a bit like the whole smart meter BS they always traipse out saying you can save loads by knowing etc. I can guarantee you I can't, every appliance is relatively new, LEDs everywhere.
  5. Well you do have to wonder realistically how much would I get in all those grants. I'm guessing there's wouldn't be much change out of 60k if all those things are covered ?. And how much would I have to pay ?.
  6. It'll probably be easier for them to just knock on your door and say get out before they strip, rebuild and give you the keys back in six months time.
  7. The insulation scheme for cavity walls is pretty much done, it's been running since the 90s and I can't believe there are many uninsulated cavity walls. Whilst there is an argument for exterior insulation, personally I'd rather sacrifice internal space than an external fire hazard. Regardless of the levels of insulation, If even Scandinavia are feeling the pinch fuel price wise we are all up a creek so to speak.
  8. I wouldn't really use Putin as it's more a case of over reliance on gas for power generation. We have hundreds of years of coal unused, a gas storage system only just being put back into use, no nuclear for decades and we couldn't even convince Hinkley to stay open longer. If we're paying for decommissioning, we should own it. Make it like liberty bonds or get the premium bonds people to finance it.
  9. Without wearing the tin hat, proclaiming the whole have nothing and be happy WEF stuff. It does feel like there is a socialist agenda aimed at the poor, take home insulation as an example. Your average terrace has say 10 homes, the only way to insulate is remove the whole roof and start again. Which without council or state intervention isn't going to happen.
  10. In a paraphrasing of the American smokey bear. Only thieving can prevent forest fires.
  11. Is that the new going out on the town?. Or maybe Hyde park will be denuded of trees using all these electric chainsaws ?.
  12. I can only speak from experience of having a 2000l bunded metal tank, which so far hasn't had any problems. But have heard plenty of plastic tank problems, so was purely guessing.
  13. Means it meets diesel standards. They do sell a bug killer for those that don't use much. I've seen lots of speculation regarding metal Vs plastic tanks allowing light through to let the bacteria grow. One presumes they need sunlight and bio oil, they can't really live in isolation and darkness
  14. 8", have you been buying those pills again on the internet?
  15. Doesn't that mostly fall under the diameter at 1.5m rule ?.
  16. They don't seem to have a great deal of luck with these new ships, did they ever sort out the jet turbine issue ?. At any rate it'll be cheaper to cut oar holes down each side or just repurpose a p&o ferry.
  17. Not sure about relaxing, but do achieve a state of clear thinking when on the hydraulic splitter. That might be more a numbed mind than a state of Zen enlightenment.
  18. As I've said you need to check the definitive map from the council, it lists all rights of access and it's status. Footpaths don't really need to be maintained as long as it's passable on foot and nothing more. Bridleways are more council or possibly sustrans maintained, as that's open to all including bicycles and wheelchairs, that's a whole HSE rabbit hole.
  19. Magic map only gives field reference for DEFRA, using the search map option would show ownership. Without knowing the place, they could have bought a field and claimed a grant in the late 90s for woodland. And like many claimed a ton of cash and just left it to it's own devices. A neighbor did that and it's now an almost impenetrable wall of trees
  20. Sent off, it's all digital pdf via the government website. You use the magnification glass search map option not property, as the owner isn't necessarily that farmhouse. It's not claiming ownership as it's already owned, it's more acknowledge they own it to people that ask. The landowner has very few responsibilities other than to allow access for footpaths and obvious things like trees falling on heads, bridleways are more council maintenance tho as it's akin to a road including a width and height requirement. But you would need to check the council definitive map to confirm it's status. Are you sure about it being public access woodland, that ring alarm bells in my mind. As landowners we get nothing for all the troubles, especially horsey types. I talk from experience, canal and footpath are a nightmare at times.
  21. I do have to wonder if the huge sums of money couldn't have been spent on earth. Space stations, telescopes and satellites are atleast just above our atmosphere. That's before we get to Elon and his constellation of satellites, which aren't we and a few other countries also wanting to recreate in some weird garbage patch?. The original moon landing was a big statement 66 years between flight and the moon. It does smack of the opening scenes from Iron Sky - the first four minutes.
  22. Without sounding like the farmer I definitely am. I call BS on the farmers/tenants not knowing, we know exactly but play dumb when people are asking and we don't want to discuss it.
  23. Must be the light as one looks blue other grey. A decent fully restored road legal fergy would be around 4k, plenty of unrestored ones around 3k, I've always preferred the TEF diesel Perkins version. So guessing with the queen connection 4/5 maybe a little more if it's road legal and if you can find more paperwork or possibly pictures with the queen driving it with the numberplate.
  24. Are those two different TVO fergies or a pair as they look to be different colours ?.
