  1. Obviously that is 11.5A per phase, depending on the motor type it can be 3 or even has high as 7 times at start up and then voltage drop. I've supplied 4kw stuff with 20m x 2.5mm, but it was always a risk as one damaged core and it's in the skip. In the end just advised the customer to move the supply to within 10m as a 4mm+ extension is like getting a remortgage.
  2. @john87 pretty much was going to be my next question as extension leads say 4mm+ get very pricey and liable to get damaged. Any chance you could bury SWA closer to the job ?. The cost of a short extension would be peanuts 😀
  3. Fair enough, how much power do you need ?.
  4. Might be easier to just get a spark to put a socket closer to the work area. Preferably keeping extension leads to less than 10m is preferable.
  5. Isn't that the m tronic variant?
  6. It's also down to the high fructose corn syrup used in practically everything in the USA. It's cheaper than sugar but unlike sugar fails to tell the brain your full, the UK uses sugar as we get most of it from beet. Whilst slightly different from cane sugar it's less problematic.
  7. I'm sure there was something last year in California banning new farms, as the water comes via that open air canal which supplies las Vegas.
  8. That and corn for ethanol, alfalfa grown in the circles and exported to Dubai.

I feel like the old man in the life of Brian tho, if that's some consolation?

We all start at the bottom, be it shopping trolleys at the co-op or dragging brash to the chipper. It's all learning and showing you have something between your ears, 21 is literally half my lifetime ago!.

Plus it's worth it for the starter pension. And yes, it's generally considered polite to stay with them a little after the training. Being council the rates aren't bad, when you consider the holidays and additional training they'll throw in. So it's all worth trying, just make yourself as employable as possible. If it's climbing get into that as well to make you stand out from the crowd.
  12. Are you sure you've not bought some down market nudest or dogging plot ?. We're there lots of car shapes made with Kleenex?.

If you have the time, college would probably open a few more doors and contacts locally, getting your feet under the door as it were. You've lost nothing for enquiring, no job is for life and getting a variety of qualifications is never a bad thing.
  14. It probably wouldn't have crossed the mind of a ford driver just to lay the filing cabinet on its side and not add the go faster window free option

Providing you have a driving license, get your basic tickets first in your own time. Think of every qualification as a stepping stone, then you can decide if the industry is for you without jumping too deeply.

Is that better or worse than the illusive Shart ?.
  18. It's not really practical in modern stoves as they want the flue temp above the dew point but low enough to not be too hot to damage the twin wall and create a fire risk. Most modern stoves are approx 120c, think that's the figure I've seen somewhere. Plus over time anything higher would damage steel, cast not so much but the flue isn't cast.
  19. Sand yes, but personally I'd replace it with something newer and more efficient. You'd probably get half the price back of a new one on fleabay
  20. MS261 with the 14 or 16" any day of the week. Yeah it's more expensive than a MS251, but practically the same weight but with M tronic for better grunt and has two stud instead of the 251 which constantly need tightening or slacking. Unless you're on the logs all day, stay away from the 18" as it's slower and heavier.
  21. Or got gazumped
  22. Whinne the Pooh's poo ?.
  23. I still sell & repair equipment and have moved almost entirely to single phase and transformer driven electronic BLDC type motors without any real loss in power. Usual HSE type of thing, even now people seem to be gravitating even further to 110v.
  24. Is it just your dogs, or do other breeds eat them locally?. Just wondering if it's something that's native to the dog breeding ?. Or maybe earth balls are edible early in life, like a reverse tomato?.
  25. Maybe an early truffle ?. Do they look to have been buried by say a squirrel beforehand and are they next to roots, aren't most fungus type things symbiotic?.
