  1. Visit a local stove shop, and get their recommended installer to visit, you might have to pay for a site visit as you've not bought anything yet. But they'll be able to advise if, where and how it could be done. Maybe another RSJ across the corner, but that's structural engineering territory. No point setting your heart on an exact spot if it fails every reg going or ends up falling through the floor, as that weight is enamel bath territory.
  2. Yes the number is mm length. Once fitted you can always drop down a size if you feel it's too long or too short.
  3. They're mostly rebranded to whatever the manufacturer requires, sometimes you get the option as they last a little longer. But for a £5 belt it's not worth the worry, but never bad to keep a couple spare for when the inevitable happens mid way through bashing back the overgrowth.

  5. I just find them a bit crap at starting, that's why I pull over on run first and not choke. On my occasional use, 261 being the main workhorse. Holding the throttle whilst not best practice usually start then.

  7. Because the argument would be atleast an independent body or company is impartial ish. It'll just be like the old MOTs by mates in the 90s, the vehicle never moved and had grass growing out the tyres, yet miraculously had a MOT certificate.
  8. I wouldn't say it's leaking, more the choke is just letting too much build up in the cylinder. Messing up the ratio to the point where it'll never ignite, had to remove the plug once or twice on an ancient Ms250 years ago. I tended to pull it over normally once or twice, if it fired happy days before resorting to choke. Weirdly on my 251, I tend to rev and hit the stop button helps on the next restart.
  9. What does the manual say for the belt, sometimes the part number is just the actual size as most people would go aftermarket for a commonly available V belt.
  10. They'll usually have a size printed on them that is it's length in mm. 1755 for example.
  11. I've always been of the mindset, claim for the big stuff and not the smaller stuff. The insurance company will want their pound of flesh somehow, even if you've 30 years worth of premiums they'll get it somehow.
  12. I'm still a little confused by the exhaust going down through the plywood. Fumes are the least of your worries, but maybe the chain brake is only fitted for carrying passengers?.

  14. It cost you nothing, chalk it upto experience and move onto something better.
  15. The hydraulics have to be open centre, so zero resistance until you engage a lever valve. But every layer of complexity adds another point of failure, a one cylinder hatz runs a hydraulic 13 ton splitter all day on a sniffle of fuel. What are you thinking of running, electric is always nicer but it's then even more inefficient if you're then running a generator.
  16. Cheap Chinese tractors are probably the best idea or a ex farm scraper tractor that's rusted through on the tinwork. There are power packs, mostly petrol and you'll need a small fortune to buy and run. Depending what you want to run, hydraulic might be a better option and cut out the gearbox losses.

  18. That's why I suggested the cheap knock-off impact, not for the ugga dugga part. But presumably they gear them down considerably and for 18.99 on eBay you wouldn't mind getting it wet.
  19. 125 Nm is enough to throw both of us over a desk!. I check electromagnetic clutches with 40+Nm and that feels like ripping your arm off and have to be quick on the on/off
  20. Surely a knock off Makita impact driver would have a better amount of torque in a small drill sized package ?. End of the day it's about the gearing to slow it down and get the grunt.
  21. Aren't the Tesla trucks rusting in the California rain ?, even the cocaine smuggling DeLoreon built a stainless steel car in Ireland that didn't rust!. In all seriousness, it's just another excuse to tinker around the edges, it'll all be clarified at the budget where they'll make everything more complicated. Google says 17,000 pages under Gordon Brown, I think it's now beyond the scope of those newspaper printers!.

  23. Conservatives haven't been conservative since Thatcher. In the 50s the UK was broke, yet we said build it and we did it without paying the Chinese or French a penny.
  24. Read the very end, ignore the Iran stuff. He was apposed to all civil and military nuclear, a rhetoric that took over all labour politicians even to this day. So every time the call came for more nuclear it just got kicked down the road again and again.
