  1. I use an old jcb waterproof tough phone just for calls and an Ipad for everything else. Tried the smart phone thing but found them way to fragile, dont know anyone with one thats not got a cracked screen. Ipad does the lot for me on the move and easy to use. Bob
  2. Very sad news in that fellow member John Hughes @Wendelspanswick passed away on Friday . RIP John . Bob
  3. I think we should have a whip round and raise the 3.5k for Shane to give it a proper blast , it would worth it if only one of the twats got to read it. Bob
  4. I would just be careful you are not introducing a pathogen. Bob
  5. I think I need to go to speck savers, been reliably informed this girl has a dance partner and be fecked if I can see him. Just need a bit of clarification here Bob
  6. The last time I looked the Renault was tops and good for 300kg more payload than the Transit which could be the difference between getting a heavy fine or driving away from a weigh bridge. This may now be out of date. https://www.parkers.co.uk/vans-pickups/best/2015/best-payload-for-35t-tipper/ Bob
  7. These cord pin end terminals are worth a mention, brilliant on things like tow sockets where the screw will eat through the cable if you overtighten and any hairy bits you miss touch each other knocking fuses out. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/800Pcs-AWG-10-22-Wire-Copper-Crimp-Connector-Insulated-Cord-Pin-End-Terminal-/273147641709?hash=item3f98de3f6d Just bare back the cable, double it up, slide it to the end of the ferrule ,push it into the terminal block and screw it down, no special tools needed Bob
  8. Managed to get a few more hours on the old girl, sent it off for a respray so just need to fit it up now and its back on the road
  9. No ply is actually waterproof, some of the marine ply and stuff like buffalo board use waterproof glue but although better does not help the ply itself. A decent marine ply drowned in Woodcon is probably as good as you can get. https://www.ecoformeurope.co.uk/product/woodcon-diy-make-wood-water-repellent/ Bob
  10. Two stolen Sprinter vans buried deep in the woods, stripped and torched. Got that hot even the Ali melted
  11. Cris buy a cable making kit from Venhills https://www.venhill.co.uk/cables-amp-components/workshop-kits.html You can make up just about anything you like in less time than it takes to reply to this post. There is enough in one of their kits to make up dozens of cables. Or if you cant be arsed send them a pattern and they will make it for a fraction of the oem`s price Bob
  12. Your loss Jack, you will never learn to play the banjo. Bob
  13. Guildford run a window lickers minibus for over 60`s, they claim to take you anywhere you want in the borough for free. I was going to see if they had one available with a towbar for delivering out the kit and occasionally running me down to Honeybros, don't suppose they would take too kindly to Two stroke racing around the dash and diesel noshing on other passengers legs though Bob
  14. I beg to differ on this, in my experience they are better and easier to clean from the engine side blowing forward and not trying to shove chip/dust further into them. A radiator blocked with chip dust or crap on any machine is only blocked because the engine fan cant actually pull the crap through the fins, its far easier and kinder to the rad to blow them out from behind using a decent long angled blow gun like the one below, just be careful not to poke the cores/fins with it. Bob
  15. VID-20181004-WA00041.mp4
  16. Dustbin lid sixpence if your up in one of ours Have a play with this @SamTree https://earth.nullschool.net/#current/wind/surface/level/orthographic=5.49,50.04,2849/loc=-0.770,51.571
  17. And there is the rub Stephen, with the best will in the world any plans made for retirement at such an early age need to be flexible because of change. I filled my boots with property for my retirement at a very early age but will not be benefiting from any of it because the kids need them more than I do. Bob
  18. I can only assume the status change is linked to ugliness. Bob
  19. I have never paid into a pension fund because by the time I stop working I will be so fucked no amount of money will help me. Bob
  20. Sorry for the delay chaps. The grinder and spares etc come from here https://www.monstershop.co.uk/contacts/ The bolts they supply are chocolate so dont bother with those , the teeth are good. Bob
  21. Thanks! I have topped the reservoir up as it wasn't pushing the ram all the way up. Should it be full to the top of the red cap or someway down from that. No sign of a level nor dipstick Just playing arm chair mechanic `s here bill, the hydraulic tank is way lower than the hand pump and with the ramp up the level in the tank will be at its lowest. I would imagine the hand pump is just dry from lack of use and not able to draw from a low fluid level. If I were you I would drop the ramp, fill the tank to max , try the hand pump again. If its still not working get someone to puff a bit of air/lightly pressurise the hydraulic tank while you pump and there is a good chance once its wet it will be ok. Bob
  22. NPTC qualified or ARB approved = desperate for industry recognition. I`ll get me coat Bob
  23. Its between eight and nine tons but as far as telehandlers go its very compact. It will trot down the road at a fair pace and if its local that what I do, it normally has the grinder up its chuff on the same job so it gets put on the truck. The lower deck on that trailer is 30` so the telehandler without contraptions is about 15` Its a Sambron, there is a cheap one up for grabs on the bay of thieves https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FDI-Sambron-Telehandler-Telporter-Jcb-NO-VAT/292864726804?hash=item4430191714:g:hDAAAOSwEVtcEYPx:rk:1:pf:0 Bob
  24. I have been through a few warwick and karchers, expensive to maintain and they need to be kept in the warm or they will sustain frost damage. I bought a cheapo ebay petrol many moons ago and its been faultless, they will also work off a barrel which can be filled with hot water and they take in detergent. Good to take on site to blast off kit rather than cack up the yard Something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wido-MOBILE-PETROL-POWERED-HIGH-POWER-PRESSURE-JET-WASHER-ENGINE-MAX-2500PSI/222998538303?epid=7020020322&hash=item33ebbfa83f:g:pfYAAOSwOkhbzbY5:rk:3:pf:0
