1. I am currently outside emptying the log store with a bottle of washing up liquid to hand. It's all good so far but I'm feeling a bit faint 🥱
2. We've juiced a lot of our apples and my wife has frozen the juice in flat take out trays 1 pint in each then taken it out and put it in bags.
3. Does it run at all between seizes or is it locking up just pulling it over even without the spark plug fitted ?
4. I light our Hunter stove with 6 pieces of newspaper and 4 or 5 sticks. The wood is from the farm dumped there by local arb and has been drying for a few years before we cut and split it. There's a bit of everything in it, Alder, Ash, Birch you name it it goes on the fire. You can feel the different densities of the wood lifting it onto the splitter and I use the lighter stuff to start the fire then put something heavier on to keep it going. Last night I lit the fire and out of curiosity timed how long it took to start the Aldi fan on top, it was just over 15 minutes. When I light it I leave the door open a crack to get it blazing then shut it, that way it doesn't make any smoke even when starting up.
5. What was the air temperature at the time the saw was acting up. A friend has a 550xp which was acting weird during the hot spell but has gone back to normal now.
6. I've always topped my saws up with mineral oil before putting them away and apart from a bit leaking out I've never had any problems Some must use different anti fling ingredients
7. If you leave it in a cold garage it separates in the container, ours did anyway and it wasn't cheap stuff.
8. I'm using some chain oil from Aztec oils at the moment and it not just sticky it's stringy.
9. Because if you don't then they don't know that you want them to ?
10. I bought an 044 for repair, gave £120 for it and put a new piston in, cleaned up the cylinder and a new base gasket and it is now a good machine running a 20" bar. Enjoy yours and know you've got a bargain. 👍
11. I have a couple of older Stihl, 036 and 044 but they don't get a lot of running. When they do they are well up to the job and I did look at 038 before I picked up the 036 which was only chosen because it was a good price. It runs an 18" bar and really is a good saw. I would say keep your 038 running as long as you can probably as back up to something more modern.
12. I had a 180 with similar symptoms and it was a metering problem.

stihl 441 help

Usually no spark but I did have one that would run on tick over but cut out under load, I blamed the carb but after two rebuild/clean I tried a module and it cured the saw.
14. I've read the first page and jumped to the end and come to the conclusion I don't really care what happens and the garage or tree could fall down as long as I'm not in it. 😋
15. I sharpened 3 chains this afternoon with my Lidl electric chain sharpener, happy with the way it sharpens and the time it took. All the same pitch so all I had to change was the cutter length. I'll be out blunting them on the farm wood pile again soon.
16. Most of my logs are not vegan as they have my own sweat and sometimes blood on them 🤕
17. What kind of saw do you have ? Undo bolts, slacken tension making sure brake is off, pull clutch cover and remove bar with chain. It takes longer to type it out than it does to do it.
When i have filed a chain on the saw i do worry a bit about the filings.
The bar and chain run metal to metal, the clutch is running metal to metal, I wouldn't worry about a bit more metal in there👍
18. Good result, up and running again 👍 Nice to hear that something has gone down in price for a change as well.
19. Never seen one but I've read about them. They are a bit of a mythical beast like the twin cylinder Solo saw
20. It's called stand off or intake reversion, open the exhaust up a bit with a drill and put the air filter back on
21. A bit of side to side play is usual but that looks decidedly wobbly. Does it click when you lift the piston straight up ?
22. I've had a few bits from Garden Hire on eBay and not had problems. Worth a punt at £18 I'd think.
23. A bit of chain oil in the drum shouldn't make much difference it will soon burn off with the friction, I'd have changed the drum at the same time. What is the sprocket like ?
24. My grandson's iPhone was on charge in the kitchen when it just started to swell up and blew the screen across the room. It was a few years ago now but still makes me nervous of leaving things on charge if I'm not there.
25. I've draw a blank on this 🤔
