  1. The 235/236/240 are gone here though - and my dealer refused to sell them anyway. I just hadn't notised earlier.

  3. Stihl oil is of course OK if you pick the right one - but I don't really see the point in using it (unless it has to do with the supply situation). I would use Aspen premix anyway, for fuel.
  4. The saw is an AutoTune, so manually adjusting the "L" side isn't an option. This could be about a faulty carb, or a faulty run-in - back to the dealer, as I already said. The dealer can reset the AutoTune - and if that doesn't help, the carb likely is faulty (warrenty issue).
  5. Such a "flat spot" is exactly what that saw shouldn't have - rather the opposite, with the RevBoost! Take it back to the dealer, something is wrong (likely with the carb).
  6. Right, wasn't aware of that - it looks like it has replaced the (Poulan made) 235/236 - and it surely looks better! Now I wonder where it is made?

  8. What is the Husky 135 and 140 that is discussed here? As far as I know there isn't a 135 (never was), but the was a 136 and 137, and is a 235 and 236. Also, the only 140 I know of was in the 1970s, but there more recently was a 141 and 142, and is a 240. Isn't this really about the 435 and 440 - those are current models, and much better (+ lighter) than the 235/236/240 saws?

  10. Time to move to Husky saws then! The "mid-range" Stihls just are larger "homeowner" saws, and won't be the solution to anything.
  11. Yes - they are a very old design (1960s), and waaay to heavy for the power. Then there is the ergonomics..... The wonder is that they still make them (in Brazil).

    They still do, but I have read somewhere that Husky is setting up their own chain factory. We will see what the future brings, I am not holding my breath.....
  13. The 272xp never had the small bar mount, but the 262xp always did.
  14. The 362xps all were closed port - it was the early 365s that were open port. The 362xp had a closed port (but not quad) Gilardoni top end. The original 362s all had the small mount, it was just the few "reintroduced" 2005 saws that had the large one. I believe those were a bit heavier as well, than the originals.

    They aren't! The ones I have (but don't usually use) have very soft metal in the cutters. Another thing is that the Windsor stuff lack an AV chassis.
  16. Just make sure the case isn't a Chinese aftermarket one. If it was, I wouldn't use it. Apart from that, you can use the 372xp top end, regardless which exact version of the case it is.

    Windsor Speed Tip bars are nice, as far as I know - but that has nothing to do with this topic. Anyway, I would strongly have disliked getting a 20" bar if I ordered an 18" - and I have nothing good to say about Windsor chain in .325, only negative.

    "Blank" Oregon boxes are availiable to dealers that make loops from Oregon chain reels I believe. The one that wrote the Windsor designation on the (Oregon) box likely didn't know that the loop was going to be sold as an Oregon one - we just don't know what happened internally at the sellers end.... Anyway, the seller ultimately is responsible, no doubt about that!

    That's no doubt a Windsor chain, and my limited experiense with .325 Windsor left a very negative impression.... You have reason to complain if that one was sold as Oregon chain. Btw, Oregon, Windsor and Carlton all have the same owner by now.
  23. An 18" bar (and even a 20" one) is just fine, but it does of course have some negative effect on the balanse and handling of the saw - not so much on performance as some seem to believe. I would use those bars only when they are strictly needed though, as balance and handling is part of the point with a 50cc saw!
  24. All I can find about that model is that it likely was made in Italy in the 1990s.
  25. Maybe not, but it still is a 50cc engine in a saw body that more resembles a (properly made) 60cc one. The MS261 is a totally uninteresting model - it is as simple as that! A 560xp handles much better, with the outbouard clutch and much better design - despite it is halv a pound heavier, and does of course have a lot more power. The 550xp is quite a bit lighter than the 261, and totally outclasses it in handling, as do the older 346xp.
