  1. Nice post - someone needs to put a 28" Husky TechLite on a scale and add it to the list!

    Dolmar

Up here, you can order Dolmar saws trough Makita - but I fail to see the point with doing so (unless you want a PS-7900).
  3. I have read about that about the Walbro carb of the 550, but not about the Zama on the 560/562, I believe? My memory may of course be off....
  4. Take a look here.
  5. If he started by felling, I doubt there will be a problem. Regarding 3/8"x8, you need the standard 7-spline drum to do that - the saws usually come with the small 7-spline one.
  6. The only point I see with the 365XT is that it makes a cheap 372xpXT, with very little modification.
  7. My take on it as well - and you can always put it in later if conditions that mandate it occurs.
  8. Just do as the manual says - I have seen varying results reported after not doing that, and some of them were not so good.... What should be avoided is excessive WOT out of wood, and prolonged cuts (like milling). Just do normal crosscutting at WOT in wood.
  9. You are right about the Chinese copies (mainly of the 365) - but the one in question isn't even a copy, just a total scam by misrepresenting a totally different product. It also is a much smaller saw than a 395xp. Different degrees of scams (if that exists). Hopefully someone have reported the scam to Ebay - I don't find a way to do it?
  10. Yes, but if so, it wouldn't say "Special" on it.
  11. Yes, beware of fake Chinese made 365 Specials - they are "everywhere".
  12. You left out a couple of zeros between "36" and "565" - there will be five digits after the "week" ones.... Apart from that, the number system has been changed several times through the years, but all 365 Specials should have the system described here....
  13. As others said, those saws aren't even close to comparable - it is just the weight that is about the same....
  14. I don't think it has to be non stop, as long as you don't do something else with it in the meantime..... Remove the spark arrestor before you start cutting. Also remember that this isn't the full run in of the saw - it just is about setting the AutoTune.
  15. The 162 used to be the single really interesting Efco (the 156 is the same saw with a smaller engine) - but it has been replaced by the rather pathetic 165 (thank the EPA etc for that). The 162 and 156 generally have a good reputation, but there has been complaints about the AV and fit/finish.

    Tanaka saw

It doesn't appear to be "equivalent" to any pro class Stihl or Husky saw, based on the specs - but I can't comment on the quality. As far as I know most Tanaka saws are made in China by now, but the 45 and 50cc ones may be an exception?
  17. The recommended base adjustment for the 254xp is H=1 1/2, L=1 1/4 . which is a bit unusual. The HDA-35 ha a venturi of only 13.5mm, which is small for a 54cc saw - so a larger carb may well be a good ide, like a HDA-120 or even a HDA-87....
  18. There are a sizable difference in power output as well, and there are good reasons for it - wider transfers etc. on the xp saws.
  19. You said it better than I did!
  20. I would never buy one of the non-xp models, as they have lower power ratings, and lack the "RevBoost". I'm sure they are very good saws, just not what I would like to use (fun is part of it).
  21. A lot of silly stuff is patented, just to earn money on it if someone make a somewhat similar design that actually makes sense later.
  22. HUH?
  23. The jury decided it is not needed, as that is what the evidense show.
  24. Yes, of course - that's the right time to do it!
  25. That sounds right, based on how it looks - the looks and specs indicate that it is a (further) detuned version of the 435 (that is a detuned 440), but in the process the weight also went up slightly. The big question is if the tag says "Husqvarna, made in Sweden", or just "Husqvarna, Sweden". There are a big difference in the meaning of those quite similar expressions (what I fear is of course China). Another option is that it is made by Zenoah (Japan), but the looks does not fit with a Zenoah made saw.
