  1. That really is the case with all depth gauges, although the specs for the chain doesn't tell it. This has nothing to do with the ramps that are pictured in the first post here - that is just the way Stihl currently is making "green" ("safety") chain. The design is copied from an excellent Oregon chain that is not "green" - but Stihl made both the rakers and the ramps much larger, to make it "green".
  2. If that was your findings, something likely wasn't right with that comparison - like different chains maybe, or chains that wasn't equally sharp etc. etc. BTW; Even though the saws perform well with 20" bars, it doesn't mean that it is ideal - for balance reasons if nothing else. Keep the longer bars as light as possible!
  3. Not choke, but high idle - read in the user manual, it sometimes help.
  4. The 560xp "owns" that class - it has the lowest weight by some margin, the best performance, and the best handling.
  5. Yes, it is a silly design for "homeowner" saws - even though Stihl offer it on some pro models as well. Something to avoid, like the QSS brake on Stihl saws, and the Triobrake on Husky saws - plain and simple!
  6. The MS261 isn't what a 50cc saw should be anyway, so I wouldn't want it even if there were no issues.
  7. Great to see you posting again, even if it is on a different forum!
  8. Not really, they both are the Partner P7700 - and just 76.5cc, so not relevant here!
  9. I suspect most owners want to hold on to those saws? Another 99cc option is of course the Husky 2100/298/2101, that likely are both better saws and more easy to find. The 2100 was of couse the reason that there was no orange version of the P100.
  10. The Jonsereds are red with a black top cover.
  11. Add the Jonsereds 1020 to the list, it is the same saw as the P100 Super.
  12. Ok, thanks - I had forgotten about that, and was a bit fast with my post, without really checking! However, that reminds me of having trouble finding what I wanted some time ago - as I could find no small Husky mount Sugihara light bars in 3/8", and no 16" ones in .325?
  13. I'm missing pitch and gauge info in that search system!
  14. The 13" bars are not a good choise on the 50cc saws, as they tend to be rear heavy with them. A 15 or 16" bar is a much better fit! Also, the Pixel/Narrow Kerf stuff is a bad choise, as there are no chisel chain option, and the existing options don't do the saws justise.
  15. The 026 is a pro saw, and a much better saw than the MS250 (homeowner class saw). Also the 026 is a nice and light saw, unlike the MS261.
  16. I agree, when he doesn't want chisel. 21LPX/H21 is my preferred chisel chain in .325 .058 (1.5mm), but I happily use Stihl 25RS/RSC as well.
  17. The MS261 is just too bulky, heavy and clumcy handling in the woods for a 50cc saw. Slow trigger response as well.
  18. Take a look in the manual, it sometimes helps!
  19. The MS 311 and 391 are just large and over heavy "homeowner" saws, nowhere close to "semi-pro" saws. Stihl doesn't make any semi-pro saws, and haven't since the MS341 (and that one wasn't offered on all markets).
  20. I can't really understand how anyone would want a MS261 anyway, when the 550xp (and 346xp) is out there....
  21. From that list, obviously the 550xp. However, it isn't a semi-pro, but a pure pro saw.
  22. There is no xp version of the 365.
  23. That is a weak saw, and not suitable for regular 3/8" or ,325. Keep it as is, and run Stihl 63PS chain on it. That is "yellow" chisel chain. Make sure you get the right dl count.
  24. This may help in the future: Oregon Bar Part Numbers.pdf
  25. 30" and .063 is obvious, by the Oregon numbering system - but hard nose bars aren't specified for any particular pitch, but for different nose sizes, "L" being the largest option. .404 is just one of the pitches that will work on the bar. The DL count will of course vary with the pitch of the chain My "trouble" is that the E086 mount pattern isn't listed anywhere, E031 being listed for most of the saws you listed. It could be as simple as E031 = Stihl 3002, and E086 = Stihl 3001 - but the evidense is lacking...
