  1. Good to hear these reviews ~ keep 'em coming chaps. Steve the skinflint is getting closer to actually placing an order! cheers, steve
  2. I learnt that burning a big pile of soft-rush (Juncus effusus) makes beautiful embers but before that happens it does produce rather a lot of smoke across the road that is 200m away. cheers, steve
  3. I worked on a pig farm once and the owner used to get it pretty bad.... he played a lot of golf. He used to take time out of doing work when it was really bad so he could carry on playing golf! On a coffee break I remember him holding a bag of frozen peas over his elbow.... they were Birds Eye peas, but other brands may work. He wasn't the kind of bloke to complain about anything, but he did complain about having Tennis Elbow. Last time I saw him he was retired and was fully recovered. cheers, steve
  4. I ordered the Sofsole Airr Orthotic ones in the end.... not exactly cheap at £25ish, but my rigger boot wellies feel proper comfy now. Unfortunately I've still got this niggling pain in my left foot.... hurts most when I curl my toes inwards. Tends to ache more at the end of the day. Should I just shut up and hope it goes away or is this the kind of thing I should expect to happen from age 43+ ? It's not really that bad. I'll shut up now. Nice insoles though. cheers, steve
  5. Looks like whatever it was has rounded the cutting edge.... has it also bent them over slightly? Or maybe that's just the way it looks from the angle of the photo? Looks like you'd have to file half of the cutting edge away before getting any kind of decent edge back... so yeah, like you said.... best to move on to the next chain! Thanks for posting. cheers, steve
  6. May have already been mentioned?.... but what is the minimum distance you are allowed to burn stuff from a road?.... Pretty sure there are restrictions for burning garden waste near a road (residential), but not sure about commercial/ arb brash waste burning? cheers, steve
  7. Very interesting.... is that the first time you've had a chain go like that (scoring)? I'm intrigued to see a photo of that.... cheers, Steve
  8. Thanks for reporting back on that Dan. Do you think that first Piranha chain would recover after a good sharpening? I duffed my first Husky chain in after hitting a large stone.... couldn't seem to sharpen it up properly, almost as if the metal had heated up and gone extra hard. cheers, steve
  9. Yorkshire Tea, but shouldn't we also be having a "Which Flask is best?" thread for keeping said tea hot?.... or coffee. cheers, steve
  10. Haha!.... I dislike your 'emergency planning' scenario. Actually, I do have a huge dislike for Mr Jeremy Kyle drivel, and Homes Under the Hammer nonsense. All that daytime TV needs burning in a fiery hell pit. :  cheers, Steve
  11. Before I vote I'd like to know if getting home in time to watch Jeremy Kyle on TV is classed as an emergency?.... and Homes Under the Hammer. Can anyone confirm this? cheers, steve
  12. I tend to use the STOP even when I know it's clear.... just to get people to slow down. Otherwise drivers tend to see the GO as an excuse to put the pedal to the metal. Some drivers are just idiots and don't even see the signs! STOP means GO to some people. cheers, steve
  13. He gets the other bloke to hold his lollipop! cheers, Steve
  14. A small % of drivers are aggressive morons and they usually tend to have their car lowered and with an extra loud exhaust. If it were me doing the traffic management I'd point them into the nearest ditch. Thankfully most UK drivers are polite and understand the concept of driving safely. cheers, Steve
  15. Tanilised larch would last an absolute age. Definitely worth considering that route.... if you can afford it. cheers, steve
  16. Have you got any Larch being felled near you?.... then you wouldn't need to add any preserver to it. Cheers, steve

Like those.... It's like trees out of the film 'Avatar'. cheers, steve
  18. Somebody needs to polish the signs jon.... they get very dirty with all this rain flicking up the mud... cheers, steve
  19. Interesting but it ain't for me. cheers, steve
  20. Cheapest place is at Safety Hut; Ripeur 2 Leather puncture resistant glove :: Safety Hut : World class personal protective equipment for industry but yeah they ain't cheap. Then again... wearing out umpteen pairs of other cheaper gloves could work out more expensive in the long run. cheers, steve
  21. I used to think the same... but only until my knuckle swelled up and felt like an early onset of arthritis. I tell ya, blackthorn & hawthorn is the work of the devil! cheers, steve
  22. Read the full Ripeur2 story here: http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/40756-best-gloves-hawthorne.html cheers, steve p.s.... see them here: http://www.safetyhut.co.uk/product.aspx?productid=207
  23. Has nobody mentioned Ripeur2 gloves yet? Where's the Arbtalk Ripeur2 rep?.... has anybody heard about Ripeur2 gloves?
  24. Excellent prize & very generous of Rob. cheers, steve
