    It's good to see new technologies. I've often thought how useful it would be to have tracks and wheels.... the wheels would lift up the tracks enabling higher travelling speeds and less wear on the track components. Has anyone made such a thing yet? Anything that only has wheels is useless in our current boggy landscape. cheers, steve

    Yeah it's been a weather weird day today alright. Felt like a summers day mid morning and I was down to a t-shirt.... half an hour later I was freezing cold. Then it hailed and our Pickle (Jack Russell) wasn't liking that battering one bit.... I encouraged the chickens to walk out of the barn into the sunshine and then they walked back in again. Also found two of our Warre bee hives had blown over in the severe gales.... but the bees had a lucky escape because of how the box landed. I should have fitted ratchet straps to the hives months ago but somehow that job slipped off the list! Overall, it's been brrrrrrrrrrrzzzz freeeeezing. cheers, steve

    I only have one saw.... a Husky 550xpg (heated handle version). I'm very happy with it. Running on a 15" bar 99% of the time but also have an 18" bar should the need arise. If it were me I'd go for the 550 over the 560 because you already have a bigger saw. The early 550's and 560's seem to be the ones with all the problems but as far as I can gather most/ or all those problems got ironed out. Main bonus with the 550 is the power to weight ratio. cheers, steve

    I once tried just using a plain old file and found that trying to cut a tree into pieces was a right faf. cheers, eteve

    That looks proper posh. Looks well made and nice that you don't need a 12v battery. Would you say it's a quicker method for getting a chain accurately sharp when compared with a hand file and roller guide? cheers, steve

    If they move any further to the right it could get hung up in the centre and it would also be closer to the person in the tree. I'd say they've got it spot on. The picture could make a nice 3,000 piece jigsaw! Not got much else to say about this.... cheers, steve

    That's exactly what I was thinking too but couldn't be bothered to say it. The building on the left looks kind of interesting. The person in the tree is wearing a helmet. It's not raining. um, Not really got much else to say about this. I'm drinking a cup of tea right now. cheers, Steve

    I learnt that burning a big pile of soft-rush (Juncus effusus) makes beautiful embers but before that happens it does produce rather a lot of smoke across the road that is 200m away. cheers, steve

    I worked on a pig farm once and the owner used to get it pretty bad.... he played a lot of golf. He used to take time out of doing work when it was really bad so he could carry on playing golf! On a coffee break I remember him holding a bag of frozen peas over his elbow.... they were Birds Eye peas, but other brands may work. He wasn't the kind of bloke to complain about anything, but he did complain about having Tennis Elbow. Last time I saw him he was retired and was fully recovered. cheers, steve

    I ordered the Sofsole Airr Orthotic ones in the end.... not exactly cheap at £25ish, but my rigger boot wellies feel proper comfy now. Unfortunately I've still got this niggling pain in my left foot.... hurts most when I curl my toes inwards. Tends to ache more at the end of the day. Should I just shut up and hope it goes away or is this the kind of thing I should expect to happen from age 43+ ? It's not really that bad. I'll shut up now. Nice insoles though. cheers, steve

    Looks like whatever it was has rounded the cutting edge.... has it also bent them over slightly? Or maybe that's just the way it looks from the angle of the photo? Looks like you'd have to file half of the cutting edge away before getting any kind of decent edge back... so yeah, like you said.... best to move on to the next chain!
