  1. Hi all looking to buy from the forestry comission and wondered how the process works, 1. For instance a lot is for sale and for argument sake is 1000 tonnes firstly can you bid on specific amount? 2. Each lot has a start and end time is this the period when they are accepting bids or is this the time of when they start the felling, I've looked at one which has 6 month between the start and finish but the lot is only 100t 3. I presume you arrange your own haulage, at what point do you do this? 4. Finally does it work out any cheaper? I've looked at the website and answered some of my questions and these are the final ones I tried to call but not there on a weekend and struggle to call mid week to busy, you know how it is!!, Hence this thread.
  2. Another boring thread with a late starter to facebook Do you like Gill Stoves? Gill Stoves - Leeds - Home | Facebook https://www.facebook.com/gillstoveswestyorks Gill Stoves, Leeds. 35 likes. We are a family run business based in West Yorkshire providing a complete range of multifuel and woodburning stove services...
  3. Get well soon! All the best.
  4. The guidelines are no more than 3 metres away from the stove, and no lower than a metre from the celing.
  5. It is a tibbe key its on YouTube, sorry don't know how to create a link.
  6. It's happening all over, I think they call it a tibby / tibbie key can be bought on the net and adjusted to any ford!
  7. Looks like a Lime! Definitely not an ash.
  8. If you go down the route of fitting yourself, you will have to get it signed of by a building inspector cost £300, otherwise it will invalidate your insurance if you have a chimney fire or worse somebody dies carbon monoxide poisoning. Further if you come to sell your house and don't have certificate of installation its a no go! So really that's your options done by Hetas or the later and as above.
  9. Hi, I'm Hetas rigistered and the quote depends on weather the chimney needs lining at the price you have been quoted I'd hope he is lining your chimney! A typical semi I would charge around £900 to line the chimney with 904 grade loner with pot, cowl and closure plate, then co alarm and vent for that price. However out of that £500 is the materials leaving £400 labour two men one day! Not that bad considering further costs insurance, cost to issue certificate of install etc. If your around Leeds area my no is 07990830733
  10. As said need to be done by a pro as they can issue certificates, it's all fine until a chimney fire! Then the first thing the insurance ask is who swept your chimney and do you have the certification, obviously if not no pay out. £1800 to train and join the guild then the kit that goes with it. It's like a Gardner saying I can do a large dangerous tree dismantle for you, you wouldn't entertain it!.
  11. Re: Woodburning stove - cost It's easy to fit yourself, I have installed three now, one in my old house, the one where I live now and one for my neighbour I got building regs and passed so no need of Heatas. However it costs £300 to get it signed off by a building inspector so works out cheaper through some Hetas engineers.
  12. Hi depending on the length of the liner and the grade depends on the price! Generally for a tipical semi I charge around £1000 that's for a 904 grade liner and new hearth fitted, however all fitters are different. In relation to condensation this is formed before the stove has got upto temp as the warm air meets the cold air in the chimney this causes the condensation. So if your round my area and want a quote give us a call, 07990830733 By the way I've just got Hetas registered, Chris:thumbup:
  13. Right again, I've just set up a new business and decided to buy a pick up, and it's a Rodeo.
  14. I'll find out from him, just want to keep him sweet at the minute back doing the installers course on the 15th and it now requires 100% in both the practical and theory, so may need all the help I can get. I did question how do petrol stations get away with selling logs, and he said it's because they are sold on a cash and carry basis I and they don't know where they will be taken too!
  15. Just thought I'd share something I was told on my Hetas course on Monday, we were talking about fuel and smoke control areas and he said if you deliver logs to a smoke control area and they are burning on a non Defra stove the log seller i liable, fine £5000. Thoughts I'm not so sure, but didn't want to start an argument, as I have still got to go back to do the installers course.
  16. Hi Ashes, as said by others its a twin wall flue, not a too bigger job, you only need floor/ wall vents over 5 kW as for the flue you don't get any heat fron the flue itself as its insulated, the heat comes from the stove. Just in the process of becoming Hetas registered so have looked into all types of stoves and fitting however I don't say I know everything about it yet.
  17. Mine were at 14% but crept upto 18% now.
  18. It is a Queen! Do you have logs in your living room? I had the same problem last year, Queens are now going into hibernation and love logs, I brought loads in last year, now I check each log before I bring them in.
  19. Be careful with PayPal! Loads of scams at the minute in the process of selling a transit dropside, had a response saying he would give me the full asking price, however he worked away on the rigs and would not be able to collect himself, but a currier would collect the vehicle. I agreed to this then I recieved a payment confirmation from PayPal all appeared to be genuine, however an extra £600 was put on the price it stated at the bottom if the 600 was paid upfront be me for the shipping costs the remainder then would be paid to my account! I share you can imagine my response! He then started getting funny with me for not completing the transaction even though he had changed the terms. After telling him to get lost, a few days later I got another email for a different address stating a disabled lady wanted to give me full asking price however she could not collect herself. I told her she can collect the vehicle from a works address of West Yorkshire Police, didn't hear anything after that.
  20. Respect!
  21. Hi, are you still after a fitter? Give Chevin Stoves a ring, decent lads and a good price. Call Kaz 07730790061
  22. Sounds like you might price yourself out of any profit! Need to be selling a large amount of wood to justify a processor.
  23. I was on the vibe of drinking every night say 3-4 cans and have done it for years, I decided it needed sorting and went dry for 2 weeks, and do I feel better!!, I going to try do all of September.
  24. Only my second year in firewood, started my business 4 yrs ago since a 15yr break from the industry. 40 cube hardwood last year 100 cube this year, all split by hand
