1. Just a few shots from Saturday First a simple but effective way to carry and sharpen the saw on the baby tractor which works very well... Second could almost be a caption comp... Two oaks had uprooted between 2 ponds, once we got this close to the roots and before we had chance to clear away the brambles to get the better wood we literally stirred up a hornets nest and the sods where everywhere so time to call it a day and retreat to a safe distance and leave that part for another day.
2. Your looking at around £250 for oe pot and piston through a dealer but not sure you will even get one anymore... 50mm still available but I believe the super is 52mm isn't it?
3. Yeah your right on the first one only having the single screw, sorry. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-General-Walbro-Repair-CARBURETOR-CARB-For-STIHL-MS170-180-017-018-Chain-Saw-/170990646930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cfd63692 Yes whatever you go for you will need to drill holes for adjustment. I actually set the T screw using a pair of needle nose pliers with the lid off the engine rather than drill a hole for it. I think I ground away a bit of the airbox to to be able to get to the h and l screws. It turns it into a new saw tho with a muffler mod aswell. Some have used 023 carbs on them but all the above mods will still apply.
4. Stihl large mount 3002 bars are meant to fit if you open up the oiling hole. If ever your in Exeter and want to offer up a bar to see how far out the hole difference actually is before committing yourself ive got a couple your more than welcome to offer up. (Stihl and Oregon)
5. New General CARBURETOR CARB For STIHL MS170 MS180 017 018 Chain Saw ZAMA | eBay or uk New General Walbro CARBURETOR CARB For STIHL MS170 MS180 017 018 Chain Saw | eBay
6.
Will certainly try heating the plug aswell tomoz you suggest. Thanks for your advice. Just hate having to put a saw down knowing its not running. will be awake all bloody night picking my brains lol.

7. My other halfs a nurse to so must be a common trend.. Works the clinics in the "womans health" so basically gynaecology or however its spelt. Bless her works around 55-60 hrs a week and when shes not doing that she keeps a bottle of wine company whilst im tinkering. Shes got a 20 soon to be 21 year old next month daughter.
8. No to having an Ipad lol. Was only a couple years ago I upgraded to a laptop so will be a few years yet Not really a techno person, whilst I understand they have there merits I just use the laptop to surf the web so until it goes bang im not an upgrading type of guy.
9. Do you know what carbs on it Rich? walbro 199 or not? They suffered accelerator pump issues and start off being tempermental a bit like you describe. Huskys do seem to need more fine tuning for some reason (higher revving maybe) I had an old 61 if the L screw was more than 1/8 turn out you couldn't even start that sucker.
10. Basically I want 4 pics incorporated in to 1 photo and maybe a few captions. Anyone know how to do it or what program to use? Give me a spanner im ok but give me a puter im lost.
11. Cheers Spud. I guess if the worst comes ive always got my own 357 I can have a quick look at but by all accounts the bands broken so not really sure what to expect or if anythings are missing in there. Makes sense what you say to do tho. I think /feel it could be more than meets the eye on this one as a broken lug on the brake handle was mentioned and now you've just said that....
12. Cheers Spud, heard you could do it with a big pair of pliers, just sounds like they can be a bit of a sod at times. Think I will hold off til ive got the saw on this one. If anything else in there is missing or broken prob just as easy to get a replacement cover, and if its just a broken brake band will just replace it. Just seem a bit steep at £12 when the 372 is only £8.
13. Ive repaired the back part before of the clip. It certainly seems to be a week spot on them. I found a bit of plastic nylon and filed it about to make a shape of the original and using a plastic type araldite stuck it in position. Also glued a bit over the top just incase it tried to flip out again. Downside is the top bit would need snipping off to remove the said rod. Replacements tend to go for about £30 but like you say with the labour seems a financial loss.
14. Got a brake band to do on a 357xp in the next few days. Anyone done one? Cant believe the 357 brake band is more expensive than a 372 band? For a tenner more I can buy a complete cover with brake band fitted but obviously not oe/husky and have a shiny cover bul will it be tat is the question.
15. £1.32.9 and £1.35.9 for diesel in Devon. Pay 75.6 for lpg for my 4x4
16. This is turning more into a thread of what we burn rather than your favourite 3 lol. Im sure a good fire wouldn't be kept alive on the likes of old stakes and blackthorn etc if we had the choice. Burning cherry seems criminal especially if its wild cherry, makes excellent knife handles etc.
17. Probably been done before but whats your favourite top 3 firewoods to burn and do your customers have different views to you? Seems everyone has a varied opinions but didn't know if there was a general trend.
18. Impressive work mate. Hope you charged them a tidy price being West Hill lol ;-) Its videos like this that remind me why I try keep both my feet planted on the ground..
19. I believe the standard outside one you want is in the first post then. It should match the original inside one you already have. Just had a look thru my spares but I've just got a new standard inside one like what you will have fitted on your saw. Compared to the oversize ones its 2" shorter in heighth. I know its overkill on my saw but as I say its to protect the base as much as anything as its an early 10mm crank model which is sought after so I try to look after it. 038 for climbing? Rather you than me knowing how heavy they are lol. Be like trying to drag my 075 with 3ft bar up a ladder hehe
20. My dealer works out £437.49 without (12" bar) or the 14" is £15 more Do find them cheap tho compared to most.
21. My local dealers got the 201t @ £512.40 inc the dreaded vat The 540xp @ £524.99 inclusive? Are dealers really charging that much difference between the 2?
22. INSIDE DOG : 1122 664 0506 OUTSIDE DOG : 1128 664 0501 That's what ive got fitted and should be the same fitment to the 038 I believe if that's the route you want to take.
23. These are the oversize dogs on my 044. Each dog is a different part number tho but both oe Stihl
