  1. Castor r30 or r40 is smelling better than 2 stroke ;-p
  2. Remember If you ordered over £10 online with toolstation today you should get them tomoz. Product code is 68673 for the 35 minibox but not sure if it tells you the sizes incuded.
  3. I assume it is actually deep scoring which cant be lightly sanded out and high up in the cylinder on your oe pot above the ports?
  4. TBH ive got a new Chinese one here sat and its got the removeable transfer covers etc so would actually be very easy and effortless for a porting job. Its also a 359 so an entire 2cc's bigger lol. Like you say tho they do only tend to pull about 140psi and that's without a gasket most of the time. I keep meaning to have a look to see if theres a way of losing room in the chamber by utilizing the decomp rather than skimming the bottom of the pot or modding the piston which would both cost me money.
  5. And don't forget theres more than likely a filter on the tap bolted to the tank. Drop the tap out the tank and make sure that's clean and not gunked up.

    Husky 365

If, no actually more of a case of when you grind the fins off the transfer covers and turn it into a 372xt then muffler mod it it will eat a 560.
  7. Where in devon are you? Toolstation sell the small mixed box of grommets and are open today likewise screwfix. Ive got some I believe but will prob cost you more in fuel to get one than what you will waste lol.
  8. Anyway you can wrap insulation tape around it and push/wedge it back in to atleast help restrict it?
  9. Why not Rich as y??ouve just edited ur post lol. just bend out 1 of the segments.
  10. Yeah they can be put in on the stihls ive done. You just need bend away 1 of the segments sometimes but certainly the easiest way.
  11. Thanks guys. I was told days 2 and 3 where the worst due to the swelling but damn I hate this sitting around business. I did manage to sharpen a saw and rebuild a carb when the other half went out for an hour shopping to keep me amused. I now know why we are all on the go all the time working or doing things now as daytime t.v is the most boring thing out there.. On the up side tho its done and dusted now so can only get better. Im not one for seeing the quack and normally choose to ignore most things but being what it was and knowing it would only get worse I would advise anyone that ever gets one to get it done sooner rather than later, especially a groin one like mine. They don't fix themselves and will only get bigger and hence the bigger the op/repair/scar.
  12. Sorry what was the question? Was to busy drooling at how I would lay out a workshop like that lol....
  13. Feels like ive been hit in the nuts with a cricket bat!! Had a hernia op yesterday and although the pains not as bad as I expected boy are the plums giving me a hard time! I feel the need to share this with you guys as although im sure you really don't need to know im bored senseless and not allowed to do anything or drive for a week! The other halfs a nurse and is home with me and every time I go to do anything im getting told off!! The next few days may entail me being constantly being a post whore and losing my sanity so I apologise in advance
  14. Not to far away from me. The majority of it was planted in the 40's after the war. (My granddad was 1 of the planters) Theres prob not as many footpaths as you probably would imagine there although its used by lots of dog walkers and tourist. Its largely remained untouched in its time, makes some sense to clear some of it out but im sure theres more to it than whats being said.
  15. Just a quickie because unlike spud to miss but you are checking compression with the throttle half open aren't you?
  16. Gives the game away a bit at what saws I prefer
  17. Lol well spotted. Nice to take the brute out and give it (and myself) a workout
  18. Lol theres another 2 fuel/oil cans in the trailer always. The husky was actually used most cleaning up and taking off the smaller timber. Its one I fully rebuilt about a month ago and fitted with a zama instead of the walbro so wanted to make sure it was running properly as hadn't been used for long periods. Don't normally take that many saws out with us but every now and again I like to run a tank thru each one to ensure they still work ok. Just happened we had felled a couple big beach in the morning so we had enough cutting to ensure that all the saws got a bit of use throughout the day.
  19. Well never knew they used roller bearings so ive learnt something tonight, is that both sides Spud or just the flywheel side? Ive got an early 1973 stihl 051 which uses roller bearings but the 1976 051 has ball bearings as they changed after they realised the roller bearings where eating into the crankshaft. Amazed they didn't learn there lesson 30 years ago
  20. Only the tickover is adjusted with the cover off like I said. You mod the airbox to allow you to set the h snd l screws in thr normal manner with the lid on.
  21. Yeah could of been spot the odd one out lol.
  22. Just a few shots from Saturday First a simple but effective way to carry and sharpen the saw on the baby tractor which works very well... Second could almost be a caption comp... Two oaks had uprooted between 2 ponds, once we got this close to the roots and before we had chance to clear away the brambles to get the better wood we literally stirred up a hornets nest and the sods where everywhere so time to call it a day and retreat to a safe distance and leave that part for another day.
  23. Your looking at around £250 for oe pot and piston through a dealer but not sure you will even get one anymore... 50mm still available but I believe the super is 52mm isn't it?
  24. Yeah your right on the first one only having the single screw, sorry. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-General-Walbro-Repair-CARBURETOR-CARB-For-STIHL-MS170-180-017-018-Chain-Saw-/170990646930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27cfd63692 Yes whatever you go for you will need to drill holes for adjustment. I actually set the T screw using a pair of needle nose pliers with the lid off the engine rather than drill a hole for it. I think I ground away a bit of the airbox to to be able to get to the h and l screws. It turns it into a new saw tho with a muffler mod aswell. Some have used 023 carbs on them but all the above mods will still apply.
  25. Stihl large mount 3002 bars are meant to fit if you open up the oiling hole. If ever your in Exeter and want to offer up a bar to see how far out the hole difference actually is before committing yourself ive got a couple your more than welcome to offer up. (Stihl and Oregon)
