  1. That should say ive got NO rear handles or exhausts. Will have a dig around Mutley see what other bits ive got (wont be new but s/h spares) I know the cover (unbraked version) Ive fitted a new metal plate and rear guard to so its ready to bolt on and go.
  2. Need any of these bits? make me an offer (I assume im allowed?) before they go on ebay... New stihl chain/sprocket cover. New stihl but slight damage repaired exhaust cover (there are about 3 types tho) New original stihl crank Fuel tank/start assembly but requires rewind spring (spring cost about £7) Think I got a few other odd bits to like front handle etc Ive got exhaust or rear handles.
  3. Its 1 of the many common issues they suffer as PMH mentions. Be prepared to buy more..
  4. I would probably look at gymnastics if they used actual timber like Mrs.Treebus lol. I do think in the second pic shes actually hinting at you to make a solid bench with that piece mind you. ;-P
  5. Personally I still wouldn't look to buy one. I think they will have the new model out soon 552/562 to replace them as they've had so many issues. They've already stopped selling the 550/560 in the states and replaced them with the new model, cant see it to long before it hits our shores as my dealer already has them on special trying to get rid of his stock. http://www.husqvarna.com/us/forest/products/xp-saws/562-xp/
  6. If your struggling could I make a suggestion and pump the fuel bulb 7-8 times With the on/off switch OFF pull it over 3-4 times. Pull choke out, switch to on and see if she fires up. No need to do it this way everytime but sometimes they need a bit of persuasion before they get used and done a few cuts. By the sounds of it your dealer has told you to pull it over with the choke out until it fires once, put choke in and pull again and should fire up fine. Some saws give you the chance to get the choke in the initial time it fires but most don't. This is the correct procedure to start it under normal circumstances
  7. Im bored as ive caught up not having been working. Thought I may buy the odd one and repair etc but people are just nuts on ebay and paying daft prices at the mo for broken saws not knowing if its a simple issue or straight gassed and needing a new topend etc... Im not entering into the "got my fingers burnt on that 1" brigade.
  8. Was about to echo your comment re the b2500/ranger Good trucks if you keep the engine up to scratch service wise. Will, mines about 9 years old now but the top model. Weirdly tho it has the leather seats but not the electric adjustment. Wanted leather as fed up with scrubbing mud,dog hairs and blood off material seats, now when I can be bothered a quick hoover and a few wet wipes and its all freshened up.....it lasts atleast 2 days like it
  9. Just goes on the end of a dremel/similar and acts like a short extension. Its still not what I would class as ideal for transfer ports if that's what your thinking? 225-01 Flex Shaft Attachment / Model: 225-01 This is better provided you have the room for it for transfers and what Eddy mentioned about wanting http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=575
  10. Mitsibushi Shogun, pulls trailers, horsebox, feeding pheasants in the winter, taking the mutts out... General allround work/carthorse really for me that does lots of off road work so fitted with mud terrains.
  11. Can you give a clue as to what engine is fitted?
  12. That'll be the tank breather plug which they push in to far so it seals or the fact the fuel line is a good 2" to long in the fuel tank. Thought by now they would have sorted that out, as for Aldi its a rebadge einhell. Either way as you say not my cup of tea either, I would rather spend a few quid more for a Stihl or Huqvarna.
  13. Whilst I understand your scenario im with Eddy. You could buy a small stihl ms170 or Husqvarna 236 or 135 for around the £160 mark new which will do the job you ask. You will have no issue getting spares and get a better reasonable back up, a saw which will last much longer and keep a good resale value. Personally I would go down the Stihl route, mainly for the reason spares tend to be cheaper and easier to get should you ever need them. You've done some homework which is nice to see, einhell make saws for a lot of other places and get renamed and rebranded with different names. The Ryobi 4040 I believe is also the same saw as the spear and Jackson also. Both are reasonable saws but once they go wrong can be a nightmare to get spares and can be more labour intensive to fix.
  14. If you have the old version with plastic clip then upgrade with the kit. Yes its available here in the u.k as Eddy says. I get them online from here if like me you don't get chance to get to your local dealer... Easily Buy Spare parts for Garden Machinery Just type in the part number 537251302 in the "search parts" on the above page
  15. Yeah sounds a bit tank breather like. On the 044 its the little bit of tube to the left of the carb that's just bent in a u with a spring and little brass screw in the end. If you kept the saw below 1/2 full on fuel you could prob just pull the tube off and just try the saw to see if it fixes it provided you don't put the saw on its side or the way spud suggests. The dog leg tube is what pushes into the impulse line which provides the vacuum for the carb to work. Before getting a new carb I would fit a new fuel line, filter and the impulse tube, the fuel line may have gone soft also which will cause a similar problem as it collapses whilst running a short while. If it runs for a minute its more likely breather or fuel line than carb. The carbs are interchangeable on 044 and ms440 models ;-)
  16. Theres is a vid on utube ive seen. Will have a quick look a mo but it may help it may not. 17. Or just sniffing his can of GT85 is just as satisfying and no hang over
  18. Im with the majority, stick with the 254. Do a search on here to find out how unreliable and the poor back up on the 550xp.
  19. You missed a new aftermarket one on ebay yesterday that sold for £12.
  20. Mike (tesgol) lives close to me has 1 of these kits fitted to his own 357 saw and recommends it saying it does give a bit of extra power. Hes got one winging its way to me for a trial. I buy a lot through him and cant rate his service highly enough. You certainly wont get a more motivated seller or all round genuine guy. Hyway certainly seems quality stuff in regards to pistons and cylinders. The only thing I do tho is use the original saw circlips on the gudgeon/piston pin on any piston swap.
  21. If you can I would do away with the points on it and go electronic. I know ive done similar on 051's and 075's but not clued up on the 070/090 saws. It prob wont cost much. What do you think is up with your points? Its not a simple condenser issue is it? ELECTRONIC IGNITION COIL MODULE SPARK CAP FITS STIHL CHAINSAW 070 090 090G NEW | eBay
  22. You can get the silverline at toolstation at £19 I believe.
  23. Similar to what ive got now to. Think mines a b and q job iirc. Works fine just starts to get a bit warm tho after a while of using it.
  24. Erm what have I done saw wise today... New inlet boot, impulse line and fuel line/filter on an 026 Muffler mods on a 357 and a 372 exhaust. New impulse and fuel line and filter on an 023 and carb kit. And on the muffler mods gashed my hand - just don't ask....
  25. As a matter of interest Rover did you install the stihl or big bore kit circlips?
