  1. Still available from stihl I believe and not expensive. Gaskets kits prob supply the 051 gasket as its the most common model of the 2, all other gaskets are interchangeable.. If you haven't got an IPL I will check it when I get home and look up the part number.
  2. Its a Mossberg 500 pump action shotgun.
  3. Eddy, I hold my hand up and say they aren't to my liking, you admit yourself you've even had issues with yours. You even admit now to hot starting issues. Not a week goes by someone post about something breaking or struggling to start them and the dealers causing lots of downtime. Also worryingly some of the failures are safety features. With the 550/560xp models its a case of when not if they break down. Im not anti husky ive got several myself (357 and 372 big bore) and hopefully a 390/395 in the near future but certain models of saws I dislike that includes some stihls aswell.
  4. Reminds me of a big oak tree years ago with a tpo but it was windblown down... The 22 tonne swingshovel certainly opened up the earth around the rootball well
  5. 357xp atleast that route you will be cutting and not having a 550/560 in the shop being repaired every 5 minutes...
  6. As TCD says it will struggle. It will manage a 24" bit a 32 is asking to much imo.
  7. Well I thought the piston was the same but not the cylinder on the 3095 just to add confusion. The exhaust is interchangeable but the jonsered barrel is ported differently etc. Not a clue re the carb tho..
  8. Maybe what they meant was just it wasnt the usual size bar in respect of chain links required Rich? Some of these overseas country's use some strange bar lengths as far as we are concerned. 19 21 22 and 27" bars etc which prob dealers wont hold loops of ready made chain but can make it up, if it was rare I can't see the saw shop wouldnt have it else.
  9. Tell you what mate the way the grommet lines up with the screws on the 142 I got here its easier to prob take the cover off and use the connector method. They don't line up and always off centre. Prob easier to cut the nib end of a felt tip pen and push that over the screw to adjust them
  10. Hey Stubby ive got twin 1" exhaust ports like that on my 372xp big bore lol.
  11. lol. I actually got the proper tool now it arrived today for doing the husqy etc carbs. Ive always used the connector method, or a bit of tube pushed over the end up to now. Done it quite a few times so thought I would bite the bullet and pay £15 for the tool. (no more than a glorified screwdriver) Prob wont have a use it for 6 mths now hehe
  12. Not the best head to head but 661 v 390 That 661 certainly doesn't like being lent on hard. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lFFho3WG4c]Stihl MS661 CM vs Husqvarna 390XPG ported - YouTube[/ame]
  13. Rich the 230 doesn't run much more compression than that so don't panic to much. That's actually not to bad a figure. New they only tend to be around 155psi! The 210's are even less albeit the same engine with a 4mm shorter con rod so you can imagine how low they are. (normally about 125psi)
  14. Well that's settled it. Overnight my local stealer has put up the price of a 28" 661 from £800 up to £890!!! That's a fair jump so makes you wander if Stihl have given them a ticking off for not price matching! Even the 395xp is £40 cheaper than the 661 now. Btw husqy claim the 390xp weight as 7.1kg whereas the 661 stihl claim 7.4kg both on there official sites so everyone saying the stihl is lighter its not.... Stihl claim it to be the "lightest 90cc 5.4kw" saw not "the lightest 90cc" saw lol.
  15. Watch this video re the x-torq 365>372. Shows you what you need to know. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Vdn_VzDYTY]Converting a Husqvarna 365 x torq into a 372 x torq - YouTube[/ame]
  16. Give me a couple hours and I will post a few vids on how easy it is with the x-torq to do
  17. Ok 365 x-torq. To turn it into a 372 xp all you need to do is remove the fin on the inside of the transfer covers with a dremel. You can either unbolt the barrel and lift it up enough to unscrew and take the covers off without actually removing the piston or you can just pull the barrel off totally. The transfer covers just basically screw to the side of the barrel. Either that or just buy 2 372xp transfer port covers but have no idea of price prob about 20 quid each maybe. It's very simple to modify tho and doesn't take an hour with nothing more than a couple tools and a dremel. The 365 and 372 x-torq models are totally the same apart from these covers. Ie same carb, same bore/piston etc etc 365 special is a different kettle of fh. You need to change the barrel and piston due to the fact its 65cc. Going this route get either a 372 top end or get a good quality big bore kit to take it up to the 75ish cc mark. They are totally interchangeable. The one thing I would say is try make sure your special has the later walbro carb which came as standard after about 2003 year.
  18. Will have a look for it Spudders. Is it me spud or are you as reserved aswell about these new autotune saws? I feel in 5 years time there could be lots around beyond economical repair thru carb modules etc failing? Likewise hp is nothing without torque. Bit like the mk2 golf gti's being able to kick later mk 4-5's arses. Just cos its newer doesn't mean its better and when it goes wrong with electronics it normally isn't a cheap fix..
  19. In Harry Hill terms....FIGHT. lol The only vid comparison I've seen was a ported 390 against a new 661 that had only a few tanks thru it. The 390 was high 5's compared to 8's on the 661. Being the 661 wouldnt of settled in on the autotune it wasn't a fair comparison. However I can't see them being to far away on power terms and until there's a fair match between the 2 I'm witholding a firm opinion. We all know atmospherics and temps effect hpo along with fuel and dynos. Lol Eddy I did push up the price on a 2008 3120 yesterday but when it got to £300 less than a 390/661 I didn't see the point in bidding higher.
  20. Yeah, spot on, 580hp. As you say Wyk the a.v on the stihl wins hands down from what I've read tho truthfully its not an everyday saw so I'm not to worried and eitherway it will beat the 075/076 I use now. Eddy, I find stihl parts easier and cheaper to get, although being new out et the 661 parts won't be as readily available as the 390 as yet the aftermarket parts. Figures where taken of my dealers website hence why I mentioned taking with a pinch of saltand you also have to take into account the variants involved so not basing to much on figures. Also I fear the unknown, the 390 is a good saw and has been around for sometime so it can be bought with some confidence whereas the stihl is unknown within reason. I want to buy it to cut wood and don't want the aggro in unreliability or broken bits like the 550/560xp route
  21. My sentiments exactly spud. Both figures are manufacturers figures. I'm being led by bad thoughts and wandering if paying 65 more and get a 395 lol but where does it stop if I keep thinking like that. Also I've known a few 461 autotune carbs need replacing. Despite owning both breeds I've always swung the stihl way tho in this instance I'm swayed the other way. I'm not a fan of auto tune saws truth beknown.
  22. Im thinking of treating myself to one or the other for xmas! Don't treat myself to much else so think a new saw maybe in order this year. So we all know the 661 is new out, basically its a bigger version of the 461, its auto tune, doesn't run a mahle cylinder and power figures are 1/2hp down over the 390 (take figures with a pinch of salt tho) Husky more power, uses a "real" carb etc and been around a while so issues have been ironed out. Im swinging towards the husky given theres literally a fiver difference in price. Now I know the 661 is new out so most wont have ant experience butwho would go for what?
  23. Was offered and bought a cheap hardly used Husqvarna 142 that had been sat in a garden shed untouched for 2 years. Quick clean and fuel change and fired up 5th pull. Needs a carb retune. Uses the silly spline adjustment screws on the carb, getting a few with these adjusters in now so bitten the bullet and bought the appropriate tool. Not a scratch on the saw and bar paint is mostly there to. Could do with a few more bargains like that!
  24. with the x-torqs... Its a piece of cake to do, just a case of removing a small fin on the transfer covers with a dremel. How Husqvarna can charge an extra £130 or so for an identical machine is beyond me but the 372 has "the following" and nearly everyone wants a 372 so people believe its a superior machine over the 365 when its not.
