  1. Good tip to remember and so frustrating when you see people doing the opposite and then wander why there weld isn't smooth.
  2. Pretty straight forward job on the 200 lump. Just beware the manifold bolts are prone to snapping on them as soon as you touch them. You can pull the manifold back far enough to get the head off without removing the turbo. I would certainly say change timing belt whilst you have it off, and atleast the 200 hasn't got a superseded belt like the 300 which had rubbing problems as the didn't run true. Break the crank bolt by the usual breaker bar and crank the engine method.
  3. Engine model could be 3TNV70-STB Appears your model minidigger suffers from having a small radiator which the fins are prone to clogging up with dust and dirt. Not saying that's the cause but certainly worth checking and keeping an eye on for peace of mind once its sorted out.
  4. My bets on headgaskets blown to. Replacing its not to bad depending on how accessible it is. Don't go down the route of trying to use any of the quick fix "liquids" if its boiling the water that quickly. Do you know which model engine it is? They are used in so many various things from tractors, boats, generators etc so pays to shop around for spare parts.

  6. Certainly true regarding the EU connection. Look where its got us now, picking words carefully lots of people outside the uk here working and sending money from our economy back to there own and we wander why we are crisis point. Back in the 80's people didn't struggle for money like at the moment, house prices where acceptable etc and most working citizens could afford to get on the housing ladder. As for heavy industry that's more a case of labour killing it off.
  7. Seems the only ppl that didn't like her where from the mining community? She had the british interest and pride at heart and it was a much better place than it is now. The economy was a much better place. So lets take Arthur Scargil, thrown out the NMU in the end by the members, claimed tax in the expenses row for a flat that didn't exist, helped reduce a sentence on a murderer down to 8 years imprisonment....

  11. I think you will find your issue will be as per the utube link. I would get new oil pick up and feed pipes depending on the year of it. The earlier ones use 1 pipe to do both and later ones use 2 separate pipes. They can leak under any pressure and drip down over the oil pump and onto the adjustment screw. I also smear a bit of sealant on the grommet that seals the tube in the oil tank as a precautionary measure as ive knwn them weep on that aswell. Whilst your in there you may want to change the filter on the oil pick up at the same time as you will be removing it and for a few quid it makes sense. Personally I think the 1 piece tubes are better than the 2 piece tube of the later models and are interchangeable.
  12. Well said worcswuss Its a sad day, definetly the only worthy prime minister that's been any good for this nation in my lifetime. Worthy of the name iron lady, had bigger balls than anyone we've seen since and had great british pride in her heart and wouldn't allow it to be walked over like everyone since. Atleast she kept this country British, unfortunately now with the European union etc we are in a serious downward spiral of losing it....

  16. Spent half my day searching on the net for a rear handle/tank for a stihl 044 but its looking like its gonna have to be a new one.... Only think ive done on the bench today is strip and clean a stihl ts400 cut off saw and get it back together and retune....

  18. Sounds like everyones been busy. I finally got around to starting up a 1985 husqy 50 ive just put a new ported top end, new coil and stripped and cleaned and new gaskets etc in the carb. Bought as a non running project and not used in over 10 years. Sounds soooo bloody quiet think it may need a muffler mod, hardly hear it running!
  19. Yes it can be done, but if its a zama carb you may find you need to upgrade to a walbro wd-12b. Sometimes there can be a few idle and initial "first rev" issues with some zamas but not all. Its around that's sort of era they changed up to the warlbro upgrade so you may be lucky and get a walbro on it anyway.

I've got both saws and tbh they are equally as good tho I find myself picking up the husqy most often but think theres a thing in my head about the stihl being hardly used so may aswell use the more battered saw. If he husqy is that old it maybe on a zama carb rather than the newer walbro and think they had the odd minor issue, its certainly better to use the walbro if Ur thinking of doing a 372 conversion. Ppl seem to knock the ms390 but Its a good saw, its just a pain in the arse to work on if it needs major engine work but minor work is just as easy as the husqy.
  21. Been on the 357, hopefully sorted out the chain oil over the bench issue it has and also just been and dual ported a new muffler I bought for it. Just need to refit muffler and retune the carb after the porting job and muffler mod - if I can be bothered to go outside if it ever stops pi++ing down...
  22. I run insa turbo's and have done for some time (old bfg mud terrain) . I like them and for around £65-£70 a tyre dont think you could get much better. Never really had much issue with fast wear etc tho i do lots of off road mileage. I did find them noisier on my l/r over my shogun or isuzu tho soundproofing in a l/r is non existant.
  23. Thanks Ray, ive noticed before people seem to bid more if theres a video link of the saw running for them to see. Will prob list it the weekend if not before, think i will keep my hands on the new oregon bar and chain i bought for it and sell them seperatly, the bar isnt bad on it but as i thought i would use it more than i have i like to keep a spare of each.
  24. Did have a quick butchers on eBay last night but only one listed on a buy it now. Don't really go by a buy it now figure as that's what the owner values it at and sometimes not very realistic. (It was summit like £325-350.
  25. Thinking of selling my Stihl ms390 2009year .20" bar. What ballpark value should I look for it? Good condition as hardly pick it up tbh as normally pick up my 357 or 365 instead and don't see the purpose of keeping 3 similar sized saws.
