  1. We're taking our van in to a garage ourselves to repair the dents before handing it back to the lease company.
  2. High lift jack worked a treat. Hardly needed the mattock. Thanks for advice.
  3. I was quite pleased with my 1500 this year until i read some of the numbers on here. I've got a lot of catching up to do!
  4. Thanks for the advice, I'd not thought of a high lift jack. I'll take it for any stubborn ones.
  5. I suppose by the time you've you've faffed about with it you could have dug it up.
  6. I've been asked to quote for removing a privet hedge including the roots. I remember seeing a video of someone using an engine hoist to lift them straight out without even having to dig. Anyone tried this?
  7. Lost a swarm today are you in West Yorkshire!
  8. Accuracy should be a major factor. I've tried to revisit some old surveys done with Garrmin gps and it was impossible to work out which tree was which. Valleys and tree canopy play a big part and as i understand it to get the accuracy i want is unafforable on my shoestring budget.
  9. I've got some honey bees and to move them it must be less than 3ft or more than 3 miles otherwise they return to the original hive location and can't find it again. Over 3 miles and its a whole new foraging area so they know. Doesn't mention anything like that on the link for bumble bees.
  10. Get them to light the fire using a bow-drill feather sticks etc. Its one of those things kids always hear about but never manage to do so would make their day. You could do boiling water in a paper bag, cooking bread dough wrapped on a stick.
  11. I've been with o2 that have been good round me, my works phone is vodaphone that is almost as good. Went to three which is shockingly bad so I'm now with giffgaff who use o2 network and happy again.
  12. I came across a mitox yesterday and it was rubbish. I'm not loyal to one brand but i wouldn't consider one now.

    Gps

The signal under canopy will be reduced if using a basic handheld unit which means identifying the specfic tree will be difficult. I've recently tried to re-visit some planting that was done in a valley with no canopy and it was useless. You can get more expensive ones with seperate aerials but they cost a fortune.
  14. You don't have to 'touch base' to do some 'blue sky thinking' for the 'vision statement' of your management plan.
  15. I need a van load of wood chip in Saddleworth this Friday or Saturday if anyone can help. I'm based in Delph. PM me if you can help. Cheers
  16. Thats happened to us in work twice over last few years, the engineer said they wouldn't do an work on the trees because it wasn't their responsibilty so would wait till they rubbed through again. Crazy.
  17. Who knows how things will be in 10 years time. People might get rid of them when the price of wood goes up. Might be a fashion thing for some people 'keeping up with the Jones' and they'll be onto the next big thing. Or maybe wood pellets will take over and all the chip will become valuable too!
  18. Employment law is fairly limited tribunals generally look at if the company policy has been followed correctly. If you don't have a company policy then there isn't much for them to look at. It may include the employment contract t&c's.
  19. In the market for a bigger saw to run a 18" bar. Happy with a husqvarna so been looking at the 560xp but i'd be happy with a Stihl as well. I've not tried Dolmar but heard a lot about them in here. Interested in your experiences of any comparison between makes/models.
  20. I'm glad i've read this, i was about to order some chain oil but i'll just pop out to asda instead!
  21. Coniston Bluebird is my current favourite but I'll be happy with anything mentioned!
  22. Could be. Looks similar to some of the pics on google.
  23. any help with this much appreciated. Planted about 7-8 years ago. Sorry about picture quality.
  24. I went clay pigeon shooting and gorge scrambling,it was brilliant. There are internet sites you can book a few different activities on the same weekend. Coasteering looks great too. Not sure they book mafia kidnappings though.
  25. I've got a pipsqueak stove for my bell tent. Looks nice but its way to small. I end up constantly feeding it with kindling sized bits of wood. Kelly kettle is on this list for the next purchase.
