  1. Anyone tried one of the pallet firms to deliver logs on full or half pallets? been looking at the pallet comparison websites but delivery works out at around £100 for a half pallet on a 100mile delivery. The big firms like certainly wood must get big discounts but still profits must be tight on anything that gets dispatched via courier.
  2. Remember the 2007 Glasgow International Airport attack? It really shows just how stupid some of them are. 2007 Glasgow International Airport attack - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  3. I see this is still for sale on Wilsons website £20,400 with 13000hrs.
  4. It mostly gets mouldy in the roundwood (cord) form I find if left for over 18months. I store the processed logs in a large ventilated agricultural building. But season before processing and storing. Will take a few photos of some logs. You could really notice the spores cant be healthy
  5. I find sycamore hellish for mould. Just processed a load of it that I cut over 2 years ago and the moulds kicking in. Never had any issues with Beech
  6. Very vague. I don't know why they would need to know about all the existing customers who don't require firewood from someone on the BSL List. I haven't supplied anyone with firewood who's claiming RHI and don't expect to supply many as I don't supply woodchip or pellets. Will just put 0 tonnes in the quarterly Biomass Suppliers List submission.
  7. Is anyone else on here BSL registered? I signed up a few months back and now have been asked for the first quarterly report. They have asked how many tonnes of firewood have been sold. But what I don't know is are they referring to selling to those claiming RHI and need bsl records or does it refer to all firewood sales including for example someone with a open fireplace? Clarification from someone in the know would be a hand cheers.
  8. Are you getting a error on the IPS box? if so a red led should light up if its the same as the 1210a. You've probably tried pulling the cables out of the boxes but if not give that a go at resetting it. I was having exactly the same issues as you and it still happens from time to time but not as bad as it was when I got the machine. Now all I have to do is switch the crane on &off and it works ok.
  9. I get this fault sometimes with the 1210. Normally switching the crane on and off sorts it but failing that a hard kick to the ISP boxes gets it going just fine.
  10. What type of blade do you have on it?. Could be just getting blunt if its not clean timber. It should probably have something like what you find on firewood processors for crosscutting.
  11. Its a good question, and what if roundwood prices keep going up? I don't see it going down for hardwood or softwood.
  12. Barco that's quite a smart setup. How do you find it on steeper slopes and what reach has it got?
  13. Decent sized timber going to it. That's the future
  14. I think the 360 has a max log size of 35cm? not big when you look at the likes of Dalen, Tajfun etc. I like the look of this but never seen one in action CP1000 Firewood Log Processor - Ryetec Industrial Equipment Limited
  15. We have two Volvos 14t & 8t machines but they are to busy doing digger work to be tied up with forestry work. The harvdig systems that Wilsons are doing look ok but out of my budget at the moment. Will do a bit more research into what's out there. Getting sick of the chainsaw
  16. Thought you were looking for parts for a JD/Timberjack head? might of been someone else on here. what would you expect from thinnings with a stroke head? I've never even seen one working in the woods. Maybe a keto would be better option in the longer term
  17. Mostly 1st/2nd thinning's in spruce and odd bit of birch. How are you finding the purpose built machine? I have been tempted by old Valmet 901's and smaller timberjacks but its just the cost of running the things if they go wrong. 50tonne a day would do me fine and if it works out would be looking to up production in the long term
  18. Thanks woodman, I see A&B services sell them in Scotland good to get an idea of costs. Was thinking of a excavator Base. Something with proper undercarriage good reach and zero tail swing. I like the look of this old setup
  19. HI All Been thinking about thinning machines and Tapio stroke heads but don't know much about them and if they are any good? The 400 or 600 models look ok and I'm guessing they are fairly simple to maintain. Cheers
  20. We planted some cell grown improved Birch at the start of the year and some of that is now over 2 foot, still in its first season. Its establishing far faster than the Sitka and don't have to worry about pine weevil. Its a 1ha experimental site with predominately spruce but quite a bit of intermittent birch and also rows of birch to. Looking to produce productive hardwood that can be harvested mechanically
  21. Hope wilsons gave you a good trade in price if that was your old 380 they had for sale recently. I'm sure it over 7k + Vat on the website.
  22. It runs great will get some photos up on the forwarder thread soon. Its getting a new window for the door this week after a log slipped through the grapple into the cab. That made a bang!
  23. Hi, Ye I ended up getting it in the end. Its been running fine with no major issues. It got a good service & replaced a few windows that had become clouded. Can't complain too much for 9k.
  24. I never use the decompression valve, its never needed it. and I've had the saw for years. I always preferred the old 357 a bullet proof saw. But given that I've never had any problems with the 365 apart from an anti vibration spring breaking. Would buy another one they are good workhorses
  25. Are you talking about Hardwood or Softwood? I could see a strong market for the hardwood not sure if there's much profit to be made buying processed softwood as most firewood guys are still selling it to cheaply. The most I get for softwood is £50 per cube or less if you buy a couple of bags. Hopefully the price will be going up for this season
