1. Is this the best log splitter ever made?? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXLYaxc5-18]Cheval sur un tapis roulant - YouTube[/ame] Don't know how to upload a video
2. Finally got the Laimet going again. After 2 years without cutting a log it ran fine no major issues. This is the longest timber I've ever thrown through it.
3. You could probably pick up a good sprayer and glyphosate of ebay or from your nearest country store. Then just follow what it says on the tin and repeat the following seasons. its not difficult
4. Try MSA Machine Spares
5. Ye and don't expect much of a voice in Europe that is if an independent Scotland got in. And what voice would we have on a global scale?? I cant see us having Scottish embassy's across the globe promoting Scottish businesses. There might be many flaws with the UK but it kicks well above its weight on the global political arena
6. Ye that's what's in my Massey Ferguson 675 and its been on the log splitter for long enough. I'm sure its just universal 15w 40 that MF recommends in the back end of the tractor in the service book.
7. What next an independent Shetland maybe an independent Skye. The SNP should take a look back into the history books and the Clan warfare that isn't included in there pretty picture of the past ..
8. Thanks Timber Cutter It wasn't clear from the service manual but I managed to dig out the loglift manual so should get it from there.. second photo clears things up. How are you getting on with the 810? has this replaced your Brunette?
9. Hi Timber Cutter its for the 1210 from what I remember I think its the same as the 1110 and possibly the 810? I've got the parts book and service book. but all the service book tells you is to change the oil every 1000hrs.
10. Its a bit off topic but does anybody know where to add oil to the loader slew housing on a Timberjack forwarder? I can see a drain plug lower down and the high & low oil level indicators but where to top it up? I must be missing something obvious any info would be appreciated
11. Used hydraulic oil. Never had an issue sometimes gets mixed with oregon chain oil when cutting big stuff
12. I see the FISA has appointed a new chairwoman. Yes being the FISA they have NO forestry background. How FISA can dictate if NPTC, LANTRA and the likes are not worthy of their approval is beyond me! I did enjoy emailing the previous chairman Steve. His responses highlighted his lack of knowledge of the inherent dangers of chainsaw use
13. haha this should happen to these foke more often
14. Ye if you can make a profit on it or just keep your usual customers ticking over. It's still the most expensive firewood I've ever heard of but there are huge variations in price across the country
15. £70?? it must be getting hauled a bloody long way. Don't know anyone up this way who could make a profit on that. Who's charging that for roundwood?
16. Hi Would anybody recommend a company that supplies new or used machinery spares? Mostly stuff like winch parts or harvester and forwarder spares Cheers
17. Surely that cant be for just firewood grade material? must be sawlogs in it. if not they must be working at a loss??
18. Has local authority not got forest plan in place? This should account for felling. If not then its a fairly straightforward thing to put in place especially if its under 100ha
19.

Hi Sam

The wood was going to export as this made the best return at the time. Its a bit strange as Norboard have 2 huge plants in the Scotland one at Inverness and one at Stirling. Haulage would be the main reason as the port was approximately 28 miles away and Stirling 60 miles. There wasn't a huge demand for SRW at the time locally.

Cheers

20. Its madness, there are so many areas that have been reclaimed and were well managed in the past to try and prevent or at least limit flooding. But now if you were to try and dredge or remove siltation the Environment agency would come down big time on it.
21. It was roundwood (SRW) which went to Norboard
22. The last lot went to the following markets: Spruce = Green Sawlogs/ Pallet/ Export Chip Larch/Douglas = Red Sawlogs/ Fencing/Pallet/ Export Chip Rot Affected material went to local Biomass that was about 20% of the total tonnage The Chip was exported to Brussels from Perth, Scotland
23. I have a few bottles of this stuff and after reading a previous thread last month there's no way it'll be going in the saws.
24. Not really we have 100ha MC/MB, After harvesting and haulage your looking at about £4-£7 per tonne for Conifer Small Roundwood good lot more for sawlog material but then you have restocking costs. If it was that profitable you wouldn't have to rely on the grants. lots of people are investing for non timber benefits, Inheritance Tax, Sporting and increasing value of the land its self
25. This is the old splitter that sits behind some rubbish in the old sawmill don't know of it ever being used, bit unsafe but tame compared to mill its self
