  1. Sadly he's completely correct in his summing up of the FC
  2. 6 cubic meter bags? there's no chance of fitting that on to a vehicle under 3.5 tonne. you cant be meaning the full cubic meter bags? It all gets unstable when you go stacking them up as the log will move about a bit. The most I can get on the sprinter is 3 bags and that's a tight fit with reused bags as they stretch out over time. This is what 6 bags look like
  3. Its only a matter of time until we see more big processors in the UK. The likes of Multitek, Cord King & Pinosa. I could see a lot of them going on hire like biomass chippers do, turn up on site with operator and do big tonnages in a day.
  4. might not be so bad on the self levelling cabs, but still looks harsh on the machine dropping onto the road. It must take some getting use to on those slopes
  5. Looks like this thing fairly helps on the slopes [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEcXjUvvMCA]HAAS Traction ais rope winch JD Forwarder - YouTube[/ame]
  6. I'm sure my mums one went through 2 or 3 fuel pumps and loads of other smaller issues including the electric windows and clutch slave cylinder. The ABS system was just dangerous on slippery slopes. It was a 52 plate with about 80,000 miles only really used to occasionally pull a horsebox. I wouldn't recommend getting one
  7. What about stating payment terms in bold text on invoices, and a late fee. Interest added after say the 30 day payment period. Does anyone find this speeds things up?
  8. I knew I had a picture of that 250 Did the guy still have loads of forestry equipment for sale? there was an old-school but nice looking Ponsse for sale.
  9. Spot on I've seen someone locally selling hardwood at £40/m3 and stating it was 7 years seasoned:lol:. It looked totally rotten. You will always get people who go for the price and get poor quality.
  10. I would shop around and get a few quotes look at the price difference for tractors between Wilsons and private sellers. I've started getting bits off MSA machine spares who couldn't be more helpful same filter packs as Wilsons and way cheaper and I didn't have to keep chasing for them to be sent out. But Wilsons conversions do look solid
  11. But you wouldn't be able to claim the RHI. You need someone to come out and access the property to produce an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) I think that's how it all works anyway
  12. This 675 with MF80 loader was a good buy at a grand. It has proven far superior to the dreaded 390
  13. Loads of trees suffering from Ash dieback in Perthshire. A few photos of young trees planted around 2008.
  14. Thanks Callum some of the house is getting new insulation at the moment so will take photos of those areas to show the assessor. Wont mention the areas that haven't been done Cheers Mark
  15. Hi Undercut I think it is if you PM me your details I'll pass them on
  16. Hi TCD The Old Brunette must be working flat out keeping up with the harvester. I've been thinking of a harvester for 1st and 2nd thinnings. Been thinking of something like the harvdig system to keep things as simple as possible. Looked at Tapio stroke heads but could be a bit on the slow side
  17. Thanks Marcus That's some very useful information:thumbup: I've been sent some information on Attack and froling log boilers not had a chance to fully read up on them yet . But I do like the look of this one after reading your post S4 Turbo thanks mark
  18. Thanks Breezeblock Do you happen to know what would your approximate yearly tonnage or cubic meters of logs will be over the year? Also do you self supply or buy timber in? Cheers
  19. Thanks for the replies guys I've never lived in the house but will be after its renovation so don't know the energy requirements but I did get a home renewables report done last week. All the heating was via an oil fired Rayburn which is being removed tomorrow. The house is getting a good bit of work carried out on it so now's the time to put a system in. I thought this boiler looked ok http://www.ecoangus.co.uk/ecoangus_images/super65/index.html With regards fuel I supply logs and have registered for being on the Biomass Suppliers List but we also have woodland which is all under approved forest plans so should be ok for self supplying.
  20. Hi I am looking for some advice on log gasification boilers. Thinking about getting one installed but don't know much about what makes to go for and which to avoid? Its for a four bed two-story stone built farmhouse with good insulation. Also any estimates on the annual wood requirements would be appreciated. Would be looking to run it on a mixture of hardwood and softwood cheers
  21. Hi Woodman, got any photos of the forwarders? I looked at an old lokomo 909 but was to far gone. I'll need to fit some seals to the back diff/bogie axle on the tj1210 there's always something on the to do list
  22. haha I think they've lost the plot this time poor Lumbering Jacks under attack. elfin, was the osa 250 as good as it looks in the pictures?
  23. Was wondering who would be the first show their interest in the Gremo. Good size for thinnings but parts could be difficult to come by? Pushing your forwarder to the limits!! tut, tut what would FISA say
