  1. Hi All, just looking to see if anyone on the BSL been audited yet? I got a message from them before Christmas saying they were going to be back in contact to arrange a site visit. Thought I'd see if anyone on hear has been through the process and knows what to expect? The woman on the phone says it normally takes a few hours. I've never actually sold any Biomass under the BSL scheme but use a couple of cube a month for my own home boiler which is on the domestic RHI so have no sales invoices just a spreadsheet of what I've used and dates etc.
  2. Is that case branded stuff? never heard of it. How often do you change the oil in the Brunett?
  3. Don't know about the difflocks on that machine the 1210 has 3 switches that you press down on the right hand side of the seat. Take it for a drive and look closely at the bogies and normal places for leaks and listen to noises from the pump. There's plenty of scope for electrical issues so work the functions Can't be many of them around that clean looking. Could be an ex estate machine?
  4. I thought some of the stuff from Montrose was Birch from Norway. Don't know the trading agreement they have with the EU but id always try and get local if possible. If the FC stopped planting stupid stuff on commercial sites ( Hawthorn, Poplar, Alder) there might be a chance of future supplies
  5. That's easier said than done up this way. Imports will probably become more common
  6. Perhaps the logs are a by-product of RHI payments? still everyone seams to be trying to undercut at the moment. I'll take my chances on it being a cold winter
  7. Anyone else noticing more and more cheap firewood being advertised in there local area? Average price around here is £60 to £80 per cubic meter for seasoned hardwood logs delivered. This includes logs from both kiln dried and naturally seasoned suppliers. Big and small setups. This appears to be at odds with the increasing cost of roundwood (cord)
  8. I had a look through my old emails to see if I had any photos of it from the FC, couldn't find anything. It must of ended up costing a lot to bring it back to its current state. Or at least lot of time. Good to see its been put back to work, I thought someone had probably broke it for bits.
  9. I've got one in the back of the old sawmill made by the same people
  10. No way, that's the one! I phoned the FC about it but didn't have time to go and look over it just submitted a bid online. Did you do all the work yourself to get it back up to working order? Did you see the closing down sale for that workshop? there was some good kit to be had.
  11. Page 2 | Speedshift Ltd Reviews - www.speedshift.co.uk | Postal & Delivery Services | Review Centre I think a lot of the good reviews are left by the company
  12. I would strongly recommend you don't use speedshift just look up the reviews. Used National Pallets to collect some wheel chains and they were quite good
  13. Second that, letting it get to that stage on productive arable ground would be madness.
  14. Try calling BSW see what you get offered prices are way back especially up north. Should be worth more I agree. A lot of the sawlogs from a standing sale we had back in 2013 went abroad Via Perth dock that markets gone. Most of the soft wood I buy has been roadside for months and is sawlog, pallet & SRW clear up mixed loads but excellent for the processor.
  15. That's mental for softwood. Up here mills are paying low £30's for Pine sawlogs. delivered in!! In Scotland prices are more like Hardwood roadside: £25 for oversized and £38-£45 for processor friendly stuff. Softwood roadside: £14- £20 All plus vat and haulage. You'll struggle to find good quality hardwood, it takes years to find the right contacts for that stuff.
  16. Yes best time to do it "logs were dry when they left the yard"
  17. Email response from trading standards below. You can tell the customer the nominal size of the bags but as soon as you make reference to cubic metres the transaction is caught by the Weights and Measures Act 1985 and suitable equipment needs to be used to measure the goods. Firewood can be sold by weight, I understand what you say about moisture content but as long as the logs weigh the declared weight when the transaction takes place, there is a defence in the Act of subsequent deficiency where it is a natural product which will change over time. Once again suitable equipment would need to be used to weigh the goods which would be scales approved and verified for use for trade. You could say ‘loose hardwood or softwood logs in a bag which has the nominal measurements of approx. 100cm x 100cm x 100cm’ Do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further advice. Kind regards
  18. I was speaking to someone recently who went to the vosa or dvla office in Dundee (can't remember which), anyway they were wanting to change the documentation on a HGV and were told that said change could not be made. Knowing otherwise they stood their ground and finally it was agreed between other staff members (probably with access to a PC) that he was correct. Will ask the guy what the changes were next time I see him. But another example of those who should know the rules but didn't.
  19. Thank you for the attachment. As you say most stops are by normal police officers. I've been pulled over a few times but never been stopped by a traffic cop so all they do is run a check and look at your licence perhaps at the vehicle too.
  20. B&Q had 3 bags of logs for £5 last time I was in. small plastic bags but I can see why the general public buy it.
  21. I take it you need to have a CPC to as you have the tacho? A lot of rules and regulations before a single log gets delivered
