  1. I've had a trailer snaking once with a hylux and 2 axel trailer. Traveling at about 50mph tried to pull out of it, fight it but eventually managed to slow down and get it under control. Not fun but the fact it was on a dual carriageway and there wasn't any cars near by saved it. Was expecting the car to flip
  2. A bit off topic but what do you think that cost new? it sold for just over 40K I think
  3. Turf & Stuff or Firewood Express, same company. There was a fair bit of almost new kit including a massive Posch which was almost new will see if I can still find a link to the results
  4. Lets hope your right, if so could be a bumper year for the firewood. Did you see that one of the local guys went bust? seen the sales results online and some of the kit looked cheap
  5. I think it'll have a huge impact on the other EU members think of all that debt currently floating about. Perhaps the worse it gets the for the euro zone it'll favour Brittan's hand will be when it comes to getting fair trade deals. Don't see it having a huge impact on renewables as the country isn't going to be handing cash over to others to distribute it
  6. Yes!! can you think of the price per tonne to harvest? Oh yes there's loads of landowners just itching to loose thousands on conifer thinning's. A Valmet 901, JD 1070 or 1170 that's a thinning's machine anything much smaller is playing at it. Fine if you can get paid silly money by the FC or National Trust for doing something stupid. The hypro might work ok next to a skidder at roadside, good luck keeping the tractor front end down in the woods. If the site isn't suitable for the machines its the wrong place for a timber crop. Get the racks right in the first place using the correct machines.
  7. So how much is the landowner making on a percentage bases on a tonne the delivered in? Giving the cost of establishing woodland and the time involved its a rubbish investment. The increasing value of woodland has resulted in very good returns not timber
  8. Loads of machines on mascus today subsidised biomass is keeping the SRW prices high and buggering it for the pallet mills.
  9. some saw plans available ebay US that may be of interest Plans to Make A Hydraulic Chainsaw | eBay
  10. Cheers for the replies Good to hear other peoples thoughts on the FC. I never bothered submitting an interest based on all the above reasons. I was talking to someone at the FC recently and they think in Scotland a lot of the districts are going to be merged into one.
  11. Hi All Was looking at a tender to join one of the Forestry Commissions small scale forestry frameworks. Decided to give it a miss partly due to all the red tape in the 61 page, 12,388 word tender document. The overheads in refreshing just about everything to join an approved list of contractors for 2 years was slightly off-putting. How do others find working for them? Do they charge a premium for the extra hassle? Also its hard to find sub contractors that tick all the boxes. Think its something I'll end up looking into at a later date. Currently busy enough with privet sector contracts.
  12. Ye processor is up and running again. Didn't see it but must of been some wave to shift the thing
  13. Its in Perthshire. Water was over the roof of the tractors when the pond at the bottom of the hill was suddenly filled by the landslide. There's now no pond
  14. Unless its Larch, Douglas fir or perhaps Pine I wouldn't waste time on milling it unless you have a pressure treatment vessel to hand? Spruce won't take up the treatment especially if its dry. Tried treating a bit spruce after reading an article in the Forestry Journal that said it wouldn't soak up treatment and they were correct.
  15. Thanks TCD I hadn't tried Richard Court! Phill Cooper said he might be breaking a 840 with them but wasn't sure if and when that would be happening. I've asked around and emailed VMD in Sweden so hopefully hear back.
  16. Hi Just seeing if there's anyone on here selling or knows a good place to pick up a mini crane lever? I'm looking for a left hand side one. Its the one with the can shaped lower half the newer type are fatter and more rounded. Tried wilsons and a few others but no joy yet
  17. Loads of orders in books full!! Just as the van decides to (die 2nd time in a week) luckily the contracting side of things is busy or would be if everything on that front wasn't broken down too.
  18. Got this email today yet another audit, ok not a suppliers audit. We would like to inform you that you have been selected for a site audit for your Domestic RHI heating system. It will be carried out by our external contractors (Ricardo) and overseen by the Domestic RHI Audit Team at Ofgem E-Serve. What’s involved? You will be contacted shortly by Ricardo to find a suitable date and time to visit the premises of the DRHI system. Please note that the audit will be arranged by Ricardo and you as they will undertake the audit, Ofgem do not arrange these audits. During this visit they will examine the system and its associated infrastructure. This should only take 1-2 hours. Please note that we expect the audit to be carried out within 28 days of the date of this notification. We appreciate your co-operation with this. In order for this audit to be carried out as smoothly as possible, please can you ensure you have the following documents to hand: · Valid ID (e.g. utility bill or council tax bill) · MCS Certificate · MCS Compliance Certificates (for installations commissioned on or after 16th March 2014) · Domestic EPC Certificate · Green Deal Report · Purchase receipts for the installation. · Purchase receipts for any fuel (if you have a Biomass installation). Please be aware of biomass sustainability requirements which came into force on 5th October 2015. For more information please visit https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/403105/Biomass_Sustainability_Requirements_-_Info_Sheet_-_Domestic_RHI_Feb_15_Final.pdf for more information. · Maintenance receipts · Calibration certificates for meters (if you have meters as part of your Domestic RHI heat installation) · Grant letter (if you have received a grant for you heat installation) Please note that, in addition to the above, our external contractors (Ricardo) have the right to request further evidence in order to verify compliance with the scheme. The auditors may also require access to rooms within the property to inspect the heating system, and possibly to the loft to inspect insulation. Please let them know beforehand of any access issues to the heating system or the property. The auditors will always present identification prior to entering your property What happens afterwards? Following the site audit we will inform you of the findings as soon as possible, including details of any follow-up actions where appropriate. We appreciate your cooperation with this process. If you need any further clarification or information regarding the site audit process, please contact the Domestic RHI Site Audit team on (0203 263 9955 or email [email protected]) Kind regards Domestic RHI Audit and Compliance Team Ofgem 9 Millbank London SW1P 3GE Tel: 0203 263 9955 http://www.ofgem.gov.uk
  19. That's a huge tonnage are you selling it all to people claiming under the RHI? All the authorised stuff I process goes into my home boiler although annual production is at 500t I asked the help desk if I should reduce my tonnage to reflect no sales but was advised to leave the annual production volume as it is, just in case you want to sell woodfuel down the line.
  20. I've still not herd back about the audit. They'll probably just turn up which is fine as I'll likely be away. You can't make any changes on the suppliers portal which is stupid. I've sent a few emails to just to make simple amendments. Also you cant make any address amendments
  21. That's an impressive return if your buying roundwood it in at say £30-40 per tonne. Your calculations are probably based on the dry seasoned weight that's being fed into the boiler at but still a good return. I always said I'd get a kiln before it was in fashion but it was the time you have to spend feeding them that put me off plus the initial outlay. Maybe I should of got one.
  22. Excellent, Thanks for that. I'll give them a call. I've got all the manuals with wiring diagrams etc. so hopefully they'll manage to find the faults.
  23. Anyone know of a good forestry mechanic that covers the Perthshire are? Got a few electrical faults that could do with being sorted out
  24. I think I have all the paperwork in place, although there is no current felling licence there was a Approved forest Plan in date when the timber was felled and the people at the BSL were happy with that. She can view the timber stacks if she wants as I still got about 150t at roadside in the woods. What happens if you sell firewood and 95% of that goes to standard customers with nothing to do with the RHI. Surely you should only have keep records for timber bought and supplied to the 5% that actually goes to RHI participants?
