  1. Recent experience with Adrian Flux Two vans insured with them. On insuring the 2nd van they asked for documents “photo copy of photocard driving licence & proof of address”. Not a big issue although they should have this on file from my sprinter van which they insure. So sent a scanned copy of a bank letter and my photocard driving licence. A few days pass, email arrives “We still required copies of your photocard driving licence and proof of address” Phone them up to see what’s happening apparently a dated letter from the bank isn’t enough proof of address despite the fact that the addresses on the photo card licence and bank letter match so send them an email with photocopy of a letter from HMRC addressed to myself. That’s all they asked for. 3rd email now arrives “Documents required!! Driving licence check codes photocopy of reverse of driving licence. All the above and bearing in mind I already have a vehicle with them, never had points or convictions. Has anyone had else had similar experiences from this company? or ever been asked for Driving licence check codes which you have to get from the DVLA??
  2. seems reasonable value Timberliner Forwarder - Field & Forest Machinery
  3. Been slow for the last 2 weeks but the temperatures dropped to about -8 and the emails and texts have started
  4. Forgetting the RHI would something like this be feasible connected to an insulated container? 100kw WOOD SPACE HEATER WASTE WOODCHIP SAWDUST CARDBOARD COAL LOG PELLET met man | eBay Or would it eat-up to much fuel?
  5. Thanks, wasn't too sure how the ground source thing worked. Would of been good if you could get the correct temperature for firewood as the RHI is good for it.
  6. Has anyone built a kiln that's heated via ground source heat pumps?
  7. I've never had one. Don't expect to get one as the whole thing only stacks up if you own woodland or are in the firewood trade. It would cost a fortune buying in logs at £70/cm to throw into a boiler then you add up the running costs and then there's all the time stacking logs cleaning and maintaining the boiler.
  8. The whole system is a joke it'll be interesting to see how much the fees jump after a lot of suppliers drop it. I only went down the producer trader route as the BSL logo looks good on the adverts and website. Its a bit like having FSC or one of the other nonsense certifications which give you a wee logo to stick on the bottom of your website. Idiots pay for that I'm sure they'll pay to have BSL regardless if they sell to someone claiming the RHI.
  9. You should reply "yes we sell both kiln dried to 30% moisture content or naturally seasoned to 20%" Bet they'll still choose the Kilned logs. I blame the stove installers and some of the firewood guys like that vid I posted a few weeks back kiln dried V naturally seasoned. Its all utter rubbish.
  10. Few days back I ordered a new drive sprocket for a Hakki Pilke 42 checked the invoice later and was surprised to see it as much as £160 plus vat! Is this just an expensive brand to get parts for? I remember calling them earlier in the year for a new infeed motor which from memory was silly money so just sorted the old one. Cheers
  11. Check this lot out https://walkerslogs.co.uk/1120/ Kiln dried V Seasoned ??? Perhaps someone should do a video of poorly kiln dried verses well seasoned. Taking the utter piss
  12. From the looks of it they probably use the drying area for logs and grain. With the tower and blowers in the background.
  13. I think the website is fairly clear regards costs and delivery. Its not £70 delivered to your door unless you live very close to the yard. Try and buy a bag then enter your postcode and get the total price.
  14. Is the customer collecting from your yard or are you taking machinery to them and processing on site? You'd be lucky to get £70 for hardwood up this way. I think for softwood your on good money and biomass is so much quicker to process than the usual small logs for domestic stoves. Looks very well stacked so could be up to 20% more volume in it than that of loosely processed into a tipper van?
  15. Never made it to the show, must be more organised for the next one. this youtube video has some interesting machines. [ame] [/ame] It's the splitter on the Pezzolato that caught my attention and the uniformed log size.
  16. Thanks for the replies, always good to hear from other peoples experiences. The guy in question has been doing a bit of work for me over the past few months in his spare time helping to process firewood and is a hard worker and looking for manual work. I currently pay guys who are self employed who do a bit for me but the workload is going up. I'll talk to the accountant tomorrow
  17. Hi All I’m on the lookout for a bit of advice on taking an employee for the first time. Something I’m sure quite a few Arbtalkers have had experienced with. Do most people use some sort of payroll program? After looking online I’ve found a few firms that supply the software for about £5-£10 per month that also includes over the phone advice. This software seems to account for pensions, national insurance etc. Also what sort of price sounds reasonable for employer’s liability insurance? I know there’s also training overheads as the guy in question would be helping process firewood and carrying out general estate maintenance. Any advice welcome especially on key things to consider Thanks
  18. Is it this mapmaker your using? Map Maker 4 We have just downloaded the free 30 day trial and you can upload tiles for free from map maker. How do people find this program? it appears excellent value for a full mapping program with all the tiles for just £225 Tiles download http://www.mapmaker.com/v4/Base%20map%20data.Uk.Download.htm
  19. Once went to autogarden perth (next to the fire station) they wanted £60 for two average sized Oregon chains. That was with discount for buying two!
  20. I thought it looked reasonable at 25K but its parts that could be an issue. Apparently when cat took over skogsjan they wouldn't let anyone sell the machines apart from their own dealerships. Check the bolts on the legs they snap off
  21. I'm still charging between £80 - 65 for hardwood depending on how many bags are in the order. Softwood £42- 50 per cubic meter bag, again cheaper the bigger the order. All with a moisture content of about 16%. far to cheap but that's approaching on the expensive side in this area. There's lot of busy fools about:lol:
  22. Yes apparently it is. I'm not sure on the skidder but someone on here has one that looks very similar
  23. Old FC video showing the extracting of poles in 97 (courtesy of Forestry Memories website) some interesting stuff [ame] [/ame]
  24. Thanks for the link. Excellent news There's loads of firewood guys charging domestic customers at 20% on delivery. Its a bit of a saving plus makes for easier bookkeeping
