  1. If you look closely at both wires the positive usually has an extra ridge running along the outside in the middle of the wire, hope it does in this case anyway! good luck
  2. All the methods quoted are good, flail, ride on depending on whats to be cut dowm, quad bike to keep it down. I have just "refreshed" the paths here with a mini digger, they were first made a couple of yrs ago. First pic is 2012, last one 2015
  3. Mowed the main lawn on Wednesday went home, came in Thursday to find this Ash on the lawn, them damn faries been at it again! Sadly all these high winds we have had lately in Sussex have taken there toll, apparently the split opened up 2-3 inches when the top was waving about. I don't know about "todays job" going to be a while till I get this lot extracted.
  4. Had exactly the same problem with my 254, went from "o" ring type cap to one with a nice chunky flat washer at the bottom. Got mine from garden-hire-spares (GHS) £5.90
  5. One of my clients bought me 6 bags of "organic top soil" from a local garden centre, purple and green bag to act as a bed for some reseeding where a tree was removed, cut it open and thought she had bought manure instead. Very wiffy took about 3 weeks to calm down, grass liiks good though!
  6. Thanks for the info guys will try and make my mind up! I have used all sorts over the yrs from the out front single wheel Honda to Condors, BCS with a flail option, never thought about a Scag, ty Harry.
  7. S.G cautiously enters this area again, It's a wise man who admits he was wrong, sorry about the earlier posts about plastic Jap Crap. Have you considered either V6 or V8 Overfinch Range Rover, very nice inside and out, the V6 is only £230 RFL where the V8 is £500.
  8. Just been driving this one round Africa for 2 weeks, its done about 365,000km (about 225,000 miles) just run in! Note the dry engine! When you are 48km from anybody else you want to get home in one piece.
  9. Just taken on a new site with rough grass round a lake and a pony paddock, I have ride on mowers etc and quad on site but was thinking of getting a tow behind flail, as the title says anyone used them to good effect? Possibly a Haytor Condor if I can find one but fancy riding rather than walking these days. Cheers S.G.
  10. Here's what a 254xp looks like, my old gal, works a treat if a bit heavy
  11. Congrats Paul, must be so nice to have the right tools for the jobs, unlike us guys who work alone, busy looking for a 6 mm nut at moment lol.
  12. Prob not useful if your in the Peaks but if you desperate Screwfix and B&Q open at 7am about £6 per litre
  13. Looks like another sunny day tomorrow, you can tell I am not in Sussex !!!!! Weather in Maun, Botswana | 14 day weather outlook of Maun Have a look at the LTF Long Term Forecast down the bottom, it only rains in Dec and Jan.....
  14. I get my signs from Godfreys on the A22 in Sussex near to home, they sometimes have signs in the sale reduced which is useful. Mind you this sign caught my attention recently......
  15. I have just come back from a short break "somewhere hot" how about this, my daily drive for the last two weeks. got to love the mechanics service record. No oil leaks, no rust, everything does what it should!
  16. Def Leylandii, if your looking at the "big trees" thats 1500 Scots Pine, haven't started felling the Leylandii standing trees at angles of 45 degrees yet as nowhere to put them.
  17. Must explain, most still have one side of the root plate in the ground and are still live, also have grown 15/20ft trunks from the branches, pics as requested.
  18. I have been cutting up fallen Conifer trees from the storms of 1987 in a wood near Gatwick for the past 2 yrs and ended up with a lot of logs! Are they worth anything as it would be a case of a Tele Handler and a Grain Trailer to extract them? S.G.
  19. Sorry Hiluxr Did not realise you were on here. Anyway Homegrown if you still need to get rid of some timber its about 30 mins away in either: Horsham turn off A24 onto A272 at Buckbarn traffic lights by Macdonalds, first cross roads it's on the right can't miss it blackboards outside offering Logs, Wood Chip, Rustic Fencing Or Under the roundabout A23 at Haywards Heath part of a garden centre "Logs R Us"
  20. The site is in West Park Road, Copthorne opposite the Hotel where the white car is pulling out of the entrance in the distance, look for the muddy board on the left verge giving phone no, you will see from the road a 5 bar gate with wooden extensions to stop people climbing over.
  21. Sorry to hear about that, good selection you had, hope you come out of it ok.
  22. Berlingo Multispace 2.0 HDi Desire here, best of both, 4 doors and tailgate, van for work and car at weekends, carries a lot, has air con, 5 sunroofs, extra storage everywhere, rear tables, map lights, rear fan with ventilation, overhead lockers, shopping trolly! . Cheap on Road Tax £165 and 45mpg when loaded down sometimes better. 2.0 is the one to get not the 1.9 plenty of acceleration up hills. You could also look at the disabled versions with ramp for mower, stump grinder, I even thought about that.
  23. Well spotted , there is a spring and needle underneath, put thumb over plate loosen screw slowly.
  24. The Lidl ones only come round once a year so look out for them. I have had mine about 3 yrs, get used all day every day as I am out and about on the Estates, either on a Quad or using noisy tools. They have an Aux socket for Ipod, a microphone if somone come up to talk to you, also useful for listening to the birds, even a base boost and a battery low bleep!
  25. Can I have the jockey wheel in pic no2, tyre came off mine this week
