  1. was hoping to put the tow bar on the front and keep it on all the time, no need to take the collector of at all then, the front has a steel plate with 4 holes in it for weights i think so would be very easy to mount it there. but not sure if the mower is up to having the nose weight of the trailer on the front axle and enough power to then move the trailer around?
  2. hi, this may be a stupid idea, so after your thoughts of mounting a tow bar on the front of my kubota g18 to move my 12ft ifor williams around the yard. good idea or will i just damage the mower?
  3. im a bit more than half way through converting a 1828 stone welsh chapel, when buying it there didnt seem any bat activity, but by god the bats have costed me a fortune! about £5000 so far! just for two bats! inspections, serveys, paperwork, welsh giverment lience... the list goes on. make sure you have deep pockets, then make them even deeper! planning permission might be very difficult too, depens on where you are, national park etc. but it wont be easy. good luck. - some of the barn conversions ive worked on in the last few years had to convert part of the barn into a bat roost (upto 50% on one place) costing £40,000 just for bats! you'll only be able to work on any property with bats within the months of october - march.
  4. the best strimmer/ brush cutter i have is a 12year old stihl fs400. paid a massive £30 for it! never cost me a penny since either! have 2 other newer stihls but there never used as the old fs400 just wont give up!
  5. just make sure when you order a set the drill/driver have diffrent specs. The drill should have a 65mm dia in wood drilling ability, the other models havent got quite the same strength for every day heavy duty work.
  6. so just read my email again and the faulty batterys have got to be OUT OF WARRENTY to have the free replacement by makitauk. Even better!
  7. EMAIL FROM MAKITA: "Thankyou for your email. If you would like to send the faulty batteries into us at the below address along with a copy of your proof of purchase, one of our engineers will test them for you. If they have failed prematurely they will be replaced free of charge for you. Before sending them in please check that they are not American imports as we will not replace these. You would need to return them to your point of purchase if they are under warranty. Our address is Makita UK Michigan Drive Tongwell Milton Keynes MK15 8JD Kind Regards" EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected]
  8. just had the last one replaced now, which was purchased in 2009, so well out the 3 year period. deffently worth a try, it costs about 3 quid to post them so allways worth a try. ive never been refused a new battery from makita, had 4 new ones off them in the last year.
  9. Makita do offer a free battery replacement but as you can guess they dont want it well known! Simply email makita uk customer services saying that you are dissapointed that the batterys have failed and that you'll be buying dewalt, bosch etc from now on... they'll reply with: send us the failed batterys to the below address and if our service team conclude that they have failed early we will send you the replacement free of charge. All the Makita batterys gets worked 7 days a week so my old batterys did have a hard time before being replaced with brand new. This has allways worked with me! Never had to buy any makita batterys apart from the original set. Keeps me buying more makita kit with such good service like this! Works both ways i suppose.
  10. Makita too here, twin pack drill and inpact, cant fault them at all! batterys have about 3/4 year lifespan but free replacement by makita no matter what age. cant go wrong with these... the inpact is the best invention so far yet on planet earth! you'll never go back to a combi drill afterwards! good deals from itslondon too...
  11. the only van of that size to tow 3500kg legally is a swb low roof iveco daily special heavy duty model, ideally with the 3.0l engine. they come with duel rear wheels. you do see them on flea bay every so often with a nato hitch on the back. IVECO DAILY 35S15 SWB 3.5 TON LEZ COMPLAINT AIR CON,,, 54 REG 2004 TWIN WHEELS | eBay
  12. i only say put a couple of draw wires in because if your pulling your heavy amoured cable in and it comes off the only draw wire you have in the duct it makes the job 10 times harder.
  13. i would just use land drain like you suggest, nice and cheap. the ducting is only there to hold the earth away, it dosent offer any protection at all. i personally wouldnt have a problem with laying a water duct in the same trench as mains or elv cables, as long as each service has there own duct.
  14. as a spark, put at least 2 ducts, seperate extra low voltage to low voltage, eg you dont want telecom in the same duct as mains voltage cable. i would say 100mm duct for mains and 50mm for telecom. put at least 5 draw strings through each 1. If in the future you have a cable in the duct allready and you need to add another theres a good chance you'll damage the existing cable if you rod the cable through. make sure that each side of the draw stings are well tied onto a batten hammered in the ground either side so they cant be pulled out when the first cable is pulled in. As for the cat5e i would personally use armoured cat5e or amoured telecom cable underground, the water will quickly destroy any unarmored cable. Oh and a seperate duct for the water ofcourse!
  15. ive got a 2007 navara king cab, never broken down. not the best off road bar far but ok for what it is. The 4wd system i dont like tho, going from 2wd to 4wd sometime works, sometimes dosent, quite often get stuck in 4wd then and takes a bit of clutch reverse gear, forward gear... and try again. 4low usualy work well tho. cant drive 4wd on the road AT ALL! try going out of a muddy field in 4wd, as soon as you hit tarmac it locks up, (usually as your halfway across a main road and takes a bit of fiddling to get into 2wd to move on tarmac, this is a right pain and very dangerious when there on comming traffic towards you and your stuck across the road! cant usually change into 2wd by the field gate as you usually get stuck in the field... otherwise good truck, lots of power but i wouldn't be getting another. Poor clutch aswell! Some D40 models are having a timing chain recall because they cant guarnatee they they will last, new engine time if not replaced asap! Nissan probily wont tell anyone about this but if you have a nissan navara d40 please ring nissan with your number plate details to check if yours needs the recall! Know of a few d40 now which need engine replacements.
  16. i tend to get much better prices online from aviva, i think they have some deal that if u only use there online service only you get a cheeper rate, thats from my memory tho? dont ever have a need to call them, u can do everything online so quick and easy! they seem to be keen for the insurance as they were at least half the other lowest price i had . at £320 it makes running a truck a little cheaper than my old 1.3 diesel doblo!
  17. aviva here too only £320 a year, im 23 and thats for a 174hp 2007 nissan navara, with a few mods, and trailer cover too... cant beat them for price and customer service.
  18. as a qualified spark please only use a switch like openspaceman has a link to! it needs to be a 3 way switch so its impossible for the generator to backfeed the electricity supply and killing the workmen on the overhead lines fixing the fault... im sure theres cheeper models about tho...
  19. lovin that focus front hitch, seen it all now! bit of nifty turn table trailer reversing here... [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhoNckcbvU0]Drehschemelanhänger Wendemanöver. Turntable-Trailer turn. - YouTube[/ame]
  20. xmas value at its best...
  21. i had the ifor williams gd105 and its still the best trailer i have ever towed, built like a tank and after owning it for 2 years managed to sell it for more than i payed for it! didnt even have to spend a penny on it while i had it either! Only swapped it as needed the flatbed for forklift loading other wise i would still have it now. Ifor Williams vote here without question.
  22. fitted a reversing camera last year to my navara, makes hooking up the trailer and parking in town million times easier! it's payed for its self in the first week. got mine from amazon for about 45 quid for 2 cameras and a screen including all the leads, very easy fitting (iam a qualified spark tho) cant recomend it enough!
  23. same here, ive reported them so many times its unreal, ebay usually take it off and they just relist it under a diffrent name but clearly the same person! What i dont understand is that when the use a diffrent name they have lots of good feedback so they must have lots of accounts with ebay and fake feedback. They were selling trailers and tractors not long ago well below the market price. If you contact them the item usually turns up the otherside of the uk to you, but dont worry they'll offer free delivery! there freind is travelling that way and he'll drop it off on his way past they said... but you have to pay for the item now using palpay???? Its there own version of paypal i guess! Total scum!
  24. ive been really bad this week too, after spending sat, sun, mon, tue digging out soil by hand, woke up on wednesday unable to use my hands. just couldnt grip anything and hours of pins and needles. went to fill the truck up with diesel on wed and had to ask for help to hold the pump! as im only 22 i was a bit worried! but a few days on and almost back to normal now. i think the key is like you say take it easy and quite a few breaks to get the blood flowing. mabe next time i'll wount be so tight and hire a mini digger and tipping trailer instead of digging out 15tons of soil by hand and unloading it the other side too...
  25. Bought my chapel at auction, my advice would be do your research, then do some more, then even more! Read that legal pack at least twice and get someone else to read it for you aswell just in case you missed something. Check the land registry yourself, costs only a few quid online but suprising what it can show up. Dont be scared to offer a cheeky offer before the auction, might be removed from auction if they like your offer, but do this well in advance, eg not the day or two before! Have a solicitor ready and informed about your purchase before you go to the auction. Make sure you have the funds ready before the auction as compleation is usally within 28 days. If your planning to something that might need planning permission check with the council first so you can see how likely your plan is on getting approval.
