  1. Please NEVER EVER put your new truck in 4wd on the road! it'll compleatly distroy the transferbox and 4wd system. Mate of mine borrowed my trailer with his shogun sport and carryed 2ton of rubble to his house, used 4low to get up steep road to his house which is about 1 mile long, by the time he got home there was so much smoke coming from under the shogun he drove into his wall! neadless to say shogun is now a right off as the whole drive train needs replacing and transfer box! There is no way any modern pickup can safly tow 3.5t with just 2 rear wheels for drive, its a death trap waiting to happen! Landrover to be fair has got it spot on for a change! Why in this country we dont use a fifth wheel system with our pickups i dont know? Its by far the safest way of carring weight on a trailer.
  2. yeh its front wheel drive, not perfect or ideal, but for £350 its the 1 piece of kit that makes me the most money! got to be sensable when mowing wet grass as any mower will leave marks or chew it up, clearly a £1000 honda will most likely be better but ive never got on well with the honda mowers. You've got to cut a hell of a lot of grass to cover the £700 price diffrence! To be honest the one thing i would change on the husky mower is the Honda engine... Dont know if the decks on the huskys are galvanised or not but 5 years old and no rust, mabe they are aluminium?
  3. my vote is for a Husky R53SV. 21" deck, had my oldest 5 years now and we worked out its done about 4000 hours! serveced every year and blade sharpen and cant really fault it. i think there about £350 new but worth every penny.
  4. if i won some money on the lottery this would defently be near the top of the shopping list, right next to booking my hgv test!
  5. MERCEDES ZETROS 2733 DRAWBAR SPEC 6x6 TIPPER 2012 | eBay 6X6 Should just about do the job! Oh and the 16ton gross weight.... Nice motor but a little to big for my daily needs unfortunally....
  6. first decide if your collecting the grass cuttings or mulching? If collecting go for an older etesia hydro 100, 40inch cut but built like a tank, aluminium cutting deck with a good 16hp petrol enigine. dont be scared about it looking a little tatty they still fetch serious money but you will get one within your budget. Biggest mistake i have ever made is selling off my etesia! will collect even the wetest grass no problem, unlike the expensive kubota ive got now! Or, etesia do a smaller ride on mower, mabe more domestic but still good mower, i think its called a bahia... If mulching try looking for a stiga mower, never owned one myself but from using them in the past pretty inpressed.
  7. any one tried a chipper on a ifor williams gh94? really light strong trailer but with a very low height? might make life easier to feed...
  8. most of the fraudlent listings have 1 picture of writing saying 'contact me on my private email as i wont be avaliable through ebay'. at that point alarm bells start ringing and i report them. any real honest seller would happly talk through the ebay messaging system.
  9. can i ask how a mitsubishi shogun lwb 3.2 diesel would compare to the nissan patrol, lc amazon? for towing, off road etc...
  10. good point about the value, defently sets it appart from the others. The problem ive got at the moment is ive got £6000 tops for either a defender or iveco/isuzu/mitsubishi. not enough to get a decent defender at the moment. I'll keep looking tho
  11. we've got groups 4 massive green waste skips dotted round the country side about 10/15 miles apart here in breconshire powys provided by the council, free to use. still amazes me when you see fly tipped green waste! some people just fly tip because there lazy!
  12. im just in that akward thinking mode of do i REALLY need 4wd? In the past year ive used 4wd on the navara 4 times, its very usefull when its used but could i do with out... something that could carry weight well and tow 3t at least leaves in thinking of a iveco daily dropside might do the job with some all terrain tyres on the rear? too many options not enough dosh!
  13. can i ask what the costs of this class 7 mot would be? any more detailed than a standard one? been asking about and got diffrent answers but what is a yearly road tax on say the 2002 one on ebay? just trying to work out running costs before i spend any dosh... what about insurance? who do you find to be the cheepest? navara is £268 a year fully comp for insurance for me at 24, doubt im going to get anywhere near that again! any thoughts of the lpg route for the van? waste of time? maintence issues? or go down the standard diesel route that anybody can fix? cheers so far guys, look forward to any other views!
  14. yeh the red and black one, just the rust around the front scares me but with a bit of tidying up and repair it wood look very smart. 1400kg would be better than ideal! do they carry the 1400kg well or almost undrivable? put 800kg in the navara and you cant see the road! good view of the sky tho... what issues can the td5 have? are these good towers then?
  15. looking at swapping my 2007 navara king cab at some point to get a small van, berlingo type, and hopefully a defender 130 dropside single cab. not for tree work so not bothered about tipper etc only for the grass cutting and building/developing side of things. just unsure what weight the defender 130 is plated at, are all 130's rated at 3500kg and plated to tow 3500kg? or is it only hi-cap like the 90 and 110? if they are 3500kg what weight could they carry legally?(with a alu dropside). looking at a 2002 defender on fleabay at the moment but rust scares the s**t out of me but im told good things about the td5 engine? also seen a few lpg berlingos about for sale and with a good supplier locally of lpg just wondering if it might be better going down the lpg route instead of diesel for the van ? any thoughts would be most welcome!
  16. put coopers at3 on my navara jan/feb this year and very pleased, actually go as far as saying best tyre ive EVER bought! Buy with confidence these are one of the best all round tyre at affordabe price. Not actually sure the 4wd system works anymore on the truck as i never have needed 4wd with these tyres yet... better road manners too...
  17. id put my money on a etesia. designed to cut long wet grass, not sure about the blade brake on current models. last one i used i was very impressed by it.
  18. i put cooper discover at3 on the navara all round jan this year and been very impressed, very good all round tyre for the navara, not bad off road and actually been suprised how little i need to put the truck into 4wd. No signs of wear yet with about 10,000 miles on them. Can't fault them at all! Clearly there no mud terrain tyre so dont expect anything special in boggy ground but im yet to get stuck this year which is a first in 4 years owning the navara.
  19. ive no experence of the vanguard one your on about but what about a etesia attila? same sort of thing i suppose but i would have my money on the etesia for being quicker and not blocking up, as to where youd hireone i havent a clue!
  20. theres no way you could cut 12 acres with a brushcutter! u'd be there all year! never to mention rake 12 acres of grass up... compact tractor with turf tyres and flail on rear to start, then couple of passes with a large ride on collector(jdx748 or kubota g26) strimming inbertween each pass around posts edges. The grass will be very poor quality and look awfull, its something you could do with doing asap to allow the grass to have lots of time to recover. Good luck, u'll need it! Oh and its something i wouldnt even give a price on. Day rate only!
  21. i have a 07 navara king cab and wont be getting another... had mine for 3 years now and its falling apart slowly. there just not made for work now. That new shape looks awful personally, thought mine couldnt get any worse, opps it just has... so unstable towing, cant handle weight well and pretty poor offroad too.
  22. not sure what your mower is like but if i have long grass to cut down i just use my husky mower, take the collection box off and use a bungie cord to hold open the rear outlet, not recomended for safety so do it at your own risk but never clogs up and will quite easly handle 3ft grass. strimmer wise there are bargins to be had, got my stihl fs400 for £30 8 years ago and still one of the best strimmers i own.
  23. ifor williams do a plant trailer that will carry 2840kg, gh1054. internal width might be a problem being only 1.62m?
  24. i was looking around last year with the same problem, tried quite a few out, stihl bg56 was useless! couldnt move a leaf on the driveway! tried the bg 86 which is a vast inprovement and would really recomend on a budget, but went for the br200 backpack which for the price is more than enough for grass cutting needs and a top class bit of kit too!
  25. what ive never understood is why dont people have a isuzu grafter/ mitsubishi canter etc with a beavertail alu body and have a tracked chipper on that and tow a tt105 behind? large chip and weight carrier in the trailer and the payload on the truck should carry a tracked chipper legally? or not that easy???
