  1. anything i should look out for on a used l200? (new ish shape 07-10) does the 176hp model have a 6 speed gearbox?
  2. what do you recon the mpg is on the road not towing in 2wd? does even them models only have 5 gears?
  3. Hi, Been looking around for a while now to replace my 07 Navara King cab, from 1 of my other posts i was thinking about the isuzu rodeo, but after a bit of research im now leaning towards the new (ish) 08/09/10 years of the l200 with the superselect 4WD system, mainly because of the benifits of being able to drive on tarmac without the usuall wind up transmission. This would be with the 158hp or the 176hp 2.5 diesel engine. Has anyone got any reviews of these trucks, good and bad points... how well does the super select 4WD system actually work? If you have one do you use the 4WD for towing? cheers Jamie.
  4. i was looking at a 12ft ifor williams with fush sides the lot for £1100! emailed them and suddenly its in scotland! but dont worry they said they'll get next door to deliver it for free as long as i paided using a very new ebay paying system where ebay hold my money until im happy with the trailer??? weird how they can get a trailer moving soo quick within a hour it went from birmingham to north scotland! when i asked for the trailer serial no. i hear nothing else...
  5. my first thought would be a isuzu trooper 3.1 diesel commercial, allthough never had one so cant really comment much more than that.
  6. Looked about at exdemo but if im pushing my budget im stuck at £9000 tops, even a basic exdemo is about 14grand. Should be able to get about £8000 for mine.
  7. "What you need Jamie is a discovery! :-) " Not sure about that! Not the most reliable things so ive heard... Can you fit a stihl fs400, a mower and a leaf blower in a discovery? Without damaging that italian leather.....
  8. i would love a new dmax but funds dont seem to allow that! Just never liked the others, i would perfer to have a old l200 like a 2005 warrior but they seem to have engine problems at about 80000 miles. Not a fan of fords at all. New l200 body is like a tin can and vw is just a town car. Hilux just paying for a name that was really good years ago... Just after a good truck that can take a bit of abuse, whats the 4wd system like on the rodeo? The navara allways windsup or gets stuck in 4wd or low just when you dont need it to (been stuck across a main road after leaving a wet field because i needed the 4wd to tow the trailer all the way out)
  9. Hi, this is probily in the wrong section but im sure you can help with a little advice! At the moment i have a nissan navara king cab 2007, great truck with lots of power but i allways feel that its a little delicate and needs treating with care. On the other hand when something goes wrong on the navara we all ways seem to be saying we should have bought a isuzu, so is the Isuzu rodeo better truck? Sorry but not intrested in L200, Ranger, VW Amorak, Mazda, etc. It will be used for towing a 14ft ifor williams so towing is a factor, although 3tons is more than enough. Looking at a 58 plate Isuzu Denver Max which i really like, looks tough and strong, but looking at the specs the Isuzu is massively under powered compared to the navara: Navara 2.5 diesel 405nm torque 173hp Rodeo 2.5 diesel 294nm torque 136hp Does the difference in power make towing harder in one than the other? Whats your reviews like on these 2 trucks? Does the isuzu on have 5 gears? cheers for your help jamie
  10. does anyone actually tow 3.5t with a pickup tho? it would scare the **** out of me! ive towed 2.6ton with the navara and think that was pushing it a bit, not about the power but just being able to control that weight behind you and being able to stop. i'll happly tow that weight with a defender or tipper/dropside with duel wheels, if im right in thinking you cant tow with 4WD on the road in the isuzu can you?
  11. Got one customer that has her grass cut every 3/4 days to stop flowers growing apparently, made a suggestion that mabe leave it a week but no she's as keen as ever!
  12. merc sprinter on flea bay at the moment, better have deep pockets tho... MERCEDES BENZ SPRINTER 315 CDI LWB H/R 4X4 ALL WHEEL DRIVE | eBay
  13. i went round all the local stihl dealers this morning, after a test with the stihl bg56 i can say what a complete useless blower that is! had trouble moving a few leaves on a concrete path. So next the bg 86, much better, really a quality machine. and finally the br200, same power than the bg 86 but it just had a better feel to it, a little better quality mabe? I didnt like the plastic mesh guard on the bg86 felt like 1 drop into the truck and that'll be broken aswell! so after a bit of haggling with price for a few quid extra i went with the br200 backpack, picking it up on monday.
  14. hi need to replace the old homelite blower ive used for year (total c**p)! Like the stihls, either the bg86 or the br200. only being used for clearing paths of grass, grave stones, etc nothing demanding. Is the br200 just an expencinve version of the bg86? thoughts please...
  15. we had same sort of problem and we used a broad leaf killer from homebase, kills plants with big leafs but leaves the grass to live another day. our grass wasent as young as yours tho.
  16. hi guys, im looking to change my ifor gd105 for something a bit bigger to take the ride on mower and enough room to hold grass cuttings at the front. My Kubota mower only just fits on the GD105 length wise so something longer is needed. Either the GX126 plant trailer with mesh sides, or a lm126 with mesh sides and rear ramp. Ive been going back and for between the two for ages but cant decide! Any advaice which you think would be best? Im heading towards the plant trailer because i like the weight as low as possible but open to options...
  17. hi guys im after your thoughts on the kubota g18 ride on mower. its a low dump model with 1700 hours. what they like at this age? anything to look out for when buying? if im right in thinking it has the 18hp diesel kubota in it? what they like to run and maintain? cheers jamie.
  18. i did my trailer test last week, the test went perfect (in my eyes) and like the examiner said it was a text book test. But i failed due to 1 serious mistake. Its was on a small roundabout on approaching the roundabout there was nothering on it so, a quick look in the mirrors, and on i went, as i looked in the mirrors to indicate out left i noticed a black car behind me. Apparently the rules are that no car should have to apply the brakes because of my trailer, still not sure what i could have done better as i was on the roundabout before the black car? ohwell... i asked the examiner how i could inprove and his answer was bad traffic! good luck
  19. i alway thought that 4 stroke would not be good for a strimmer because the oil levels would be all over the place if you were strimming a hill side, etc. Iam i right in thinking that or wouldn't cause any problems?
  20. if there isnt any pitch pine trees about in the uk anymore there must of been at some point, surley? nearly every chapel ive seen is full of pitch pine, and i love the stuff! they must of used it as it was readly avaliable throughout the uk, it would have been very very expencive to inport back then.
  21. Stihl all the way! Ive got a stihl fs400 at the moment and its the best ive ever used, i use it from small back gardens to 2ft high thick grass. great all rounder. just because you want another dosent meen it has to be new does it? i payed £30 for mine as a non runner but new spark plug 5 years ago and never had a problem since!
  22. hi, im no expert on trees at all but from reading your posts most of you are! i do a lot of work with wood, in the form of converting chapels. i know oak comes from a oak tree etc, but does pitch pine come from a pitch pine tree, if so are there still 'pitch pine' trees about? has any one ever felled a pitch pine tree? mabe a stupid question but just something ive never really understood.
  23. I ve never used a Viking mower but if i remember correctly someone was saying on here there not that good, but like i say never used one and until you try one yourself its just story telling. Personally on that budget i would buy the Husqvarna R53SV, have one my self and would highly recomend it! I think there about in your budget and a good mower too.
  24. hi guys, need a bit more advice if you got the time. I was all set on getting a Kubota GZD15 mower but never seen to see many for sale at the right price or there just sold before i get a chance to view. So i'am half thinking about the kubota gr1600 or the deere x300. Iam leaning towards the Kubota because of the diesel engine, eg running costs. How do they both collect grass when wet? what are they like in real life day-to-day? I would love a high tip mower but mabe the time isnt right to splash the cash just yet, so since these are both low tip mowers have you guys got any tips on the best way to say tip the grass and then get it into a compost bin, or onto the truck or trailer. I suppose with the trailer i could just drive the mower up onto it and dump? cheers for your help! jamie
  25. Hi guys, after my last post a while back now where you recomended a good range of ride on mowers, im hoping you might be able to put a value on my current etesia ride on mower, its a etesia MVEHH with out a collector just a grass diflector at the rear, built in 1995, with about 1200 hours on the clock, looks a bit tatty in places but fully working and not long had service and all new belts. Possibly looking to sell this and put the money towards a Kubota GZD 15 zero turn high tip collector mower? Any thoughts on this picticular model? Seen a few videos of them and been inpressed by the performance to their size, seem to collect grass really well, turn on themselves and quite compact size. cheers for your help! jamie
