  1. great video! just what ive been looking for! anyone tried the cheaper timemaster tho? is it worth spending the extra for? that turfmaster in the clip looks very impressive! any faults so far?
  2. Guss109, do you have the Toro Timemaster or the Turfmaster? From what ive seen the Timemaster is a domestic machine and the Turfmaster is the professional machine, with a large price diffrence! Diffrent engines too, with the Timemaster having a smaller Briggs. How do you find its cutting and collecting in wet? Does the Briggs engine have enough power to move that 60kg and cut at the same time? Really intrested in these at the moment with the 30 inch cut.
  3. ive never really thought about listing my kit because im not in the tree related work, but id be stupid not to list my strimmers, leaf blowers etc. i guess i can list the push mowers aswell? and the ride on mowers? what about ifor williams trailer? since it costs nothing to do it can only benifit me in the long run so worth the time to list it. well done for taking the time and money to set this up, hopefully it will be worth it for you after investing so much. anything we can do to stop the little sh*ts getting away with our kit the better!
  4. looking at these new viking mowers in the £1500 for a new commercial spec range, how do they compare to an etesia? i might be looking to upgrade my husky mower for next season but had my head set on a used etesia 21 inch, cutting long and wet grass is amost a daily job. Collector is allways used too so thats why im heading for a etesia again, how do the vikings compare?
  5. is there any diffrence in price for mot for these isuzus or is it standard £50? What sort of mpg should i expect from one of these? im guessing that there quite heavy with the tail lift, i was thinking there probily around 2500kg unladen?
  6. theres just no way i would consider buying a ford commercial... we have a mwb transit and a transit connect at work and the repair bills are just eye watering! constant problems, worst build quality ive ever seen, and engines and clutches like cheese! was hoping the isuzus are better, would you say there more reliable than transits but when something rarley goes wrong the parts are more expencive? or is your isuzu allways getting fixed?
  7. i see theres a 2007 nkr 83,000 miles tail lift tow bar - £4900 + vat on ebay, 3.0l 150hp, sounds perfect to what i need, a little over priced mabe, so at 83,000 miles would it still be a no go when buying at this age? do these have any known faults to look out for? engines reliable? the downside would be then parts being expencive then? how easy are they to work on? cheers again guys!
  8. Looking at the isuzu range of 3500kg trucks for sale, the NKR is slightly older and a little more miles but a fair bit cheeper than the grafter. Id much perfer the grafter as it looks a little more modern but the money will probily have the end result. So which one is best? and for what reasons? 2007 (07) NKR 122,000 Miles £4900 Dropside, needs towbar fitting 2008 (58) GRAFTER 112,000 Miles £6800 Dropside, Taillift, needs new dropside panels. Allways a bit wary of the mitsubishi canters with electrical faults and engines at that milage but what are the isuzus like at such high milage? Any known faults with these? Dont really want to be replacing engines at all! Cheers Jamie.
  9. 2nd vote for a small etesia 80 ride on, will fit through most gateways and will outcut a push mower ten times over.
  10. I personally hate Honda, im using the husqurvana mower this year again and cant really fault it at half the price of what your talking about. Very regulary serviced and blade sharpned twice a year does what i ask it to everyday.
  11. I had a quick chat a few hours ago with the lady owner, she was very unsure about how often the old guy used to cut it, surly after 40 years she would have known by now? She says her husband has had another quote, by like im saying im not keen to give a fixed price as they are unsure on whats being cut, weekly, etc. So i'll give an hourly rate as of above but if she wants a fixed price i'll add plenty ontop and the price of a used zero turn mower! Im almost certain that there is no other quote as i know the head gardener quite well and he says no one but him has been on site (owners dont live there) I have to use my kubota g18 which i know is upto it by not every 3 weeks and not willing to damage any of my kit for their gain. Would £30ph be a crazy number to ask for if im using my fuel? As far as i know grass cuttings are staying on site, well there not coming back with me anyway.... Cheers for your views really helps to have a bit of support. Going to have a proper view tomorow but by the sounds of it its more like 5 acres of open lawns and 1 acre of grass between veg patches...
  12. cheers guys, its going to look rough i know every 3 weeks! iam hopefully going to have a meeting with them tomorow to find out more. Ideally im hopeing that they have a mower there that i can use but nothing has been said about that yet. There is an old guy who cuts it last 40 years whos given up with it, he might have the right idea! Iam busy now with lots of prodjects so really dont need any hassle with this. I might say £30 per hour me or £40 for 2 of us and if they dont like it nothing lost.
  13. Hi guys, been asked to look at a grass cutting job at a very large statly house about 30mins away from me. They want the grass cutting every 3 weeks but the lawns are at least 3 - 4 acres. I have a kubota g18 which i know is up to the job but just never had such a large area to cut at once. Price wise iam keen to stay away from a quoted price as it will just add pressure to me which i do not want from this job as i dont really need it anyway. So was going to go in with a price per hour, i usually charge about £30 per hour with the ride on for me and if i have a mate £15 per hour for him. Now i know for a fact that she isnt getting any other prices at all and ive got the job but just want to make sure the job pays well. Does these prices seem reasonable on such a large job? They will of course include any fuel i use and will charge hourly rate when travelling to the job. So would you charge more or less per hour? All help gratefully recieved!
  14. I have a navara 2007 king cab. it has its uses but im needing more internal tool storage now so possibily looking to sell mine if the price is right. only 57000 miles. having that 6ft flatbed has proved to be a godsend when carring long items and carries weight better.
  15. my gut feeling would be buy out right or finance a new vehicle that will be your main truck, then have something second hand or keep your 3.5 truck for spare/ 2nd team. seems stupid to be paying finance on a new truck thats just sitting on the drive half the time.
  16. if it were me i would have spent the money on getting ur trailer test done instead of buying this thing! at some point in your life the time is going to come where you will need to tow a trailer legally, so do it now and make it easy on your self... did mine when i was 22, by far the best investment i have ever made, do wish i had spent the extra dollor tho and did my 7.5t and trailer test in 1 go. Allways say to people it only takes to be caught once without a trailer test towing and the fines and insurance increase will have paid for the test in the first place!
  17. hi guys, after a little of your great knowledge again... given up on the 4x4 thing now, currently run a navara king cab 2007 55,000 miles and tow ifor 12ft for the grass cutting and building work. Was looking at going down the defender 130 route and a small van but cant get a real tidy (im really fussy) defender for my money. I have next to no idea on repairing trucks/vans and have been very lucky so far as never needed anything other than service, brakes etc so looking to keep up this good luck on my next purchase. Was looking at a iveco daily van, mwb twin rear wheels, 3.0l 150hp. Sounds on paper to be perfect, 3.5ton van and 3.5ton towing. Should be hell of a lot better than the navara for towing which i hate towing with, allways seems very unstable... Now these are almost related to fiat, been there before with fiat vans and dont rate them. Seen a 2007 with 80,000 miles for about £4500, this would simply be a work van, complete workhorse towing etc and no doubt will be abused... So whats your view on these ivecos at that age, milage, towing? I know most of you guys will be running these as tippers but basically the same thing. Would get a small van/car for everyday driving around, weekends etc so the £4500 will give me about £4000 to spend on getting this. My hope for this to to save on fuel bills which is costing me about £50-£80 per week for about 150 miles running the navara everywhere. Always had a thing for those bipper/nemo vans with the 1.3 diesel engine which simply dosent use fuel and are cheep as chips to buy used for basically new. Any reviews would be very welcome on my plans, the vans and any ideas too.
  18. Welshwoodsman - Dont know if you listen to the local Sunshine Radio but they were saying on the news that there has been a blue BMW in your area going round stealing tools etc, they have the number plate, details etc. No doubt like the Hay on Wye gang the blue BMW is working with a van or 2 to unload the kit. Have a listen to sunshine radio if you dont allready. 106.2, 107, 107.8 fm transmitted from abbergavenny at 107- 107.8. Well worth it to keep up to date with local happenings.
  19. not far from me either, im near llangorse lake. was in abbergavenny yesterday. there have been a few transit vans and a vw toureg (the 4x4 one) selling items chainsaws, generators around locally the last few days, they were in hay on wye area but i'll check. lot of kit stolen from llan dod area too... put it on facebook too listing the stolen items on one of those local for sale pages its suprising how many people see the adverts.
  20. Volvo Fl12 6x6 tipper/crane ex army | eBay
  21. i have a ifor 12x6 non tipper mesh sides and rear ramp, kind of regret getting so big... usefull for carring long lenghts of timber etc, but just for carring the mowers or the odd thing that wont fit in the pickup its just too big where as a 10ft would be ideal. reversing it onto a drive can be almost impossible as its quite a long rig and takes a far bit of space to turn around. You can certainly feel the weight behind you even empty. I would rent one for a week and see how you get on with either a 10 ft or 12ft. If its just for chip/ logs 10ft is ideal, 12ft u'll be overloaded quickly. Good example today, went to bristol to pick up a good load of floorboards, could have taken the 12ifor but would have been a nightmare on the small streets of bristol city center, so chose to wing it and carry them in the back of the navara - pig of a thing to drive 100miles with 800kg of floorboards in the tub! If i still had my 10 ft i would have taken that no question and life would have been just that bit easier today...
  22. Got to say the iseki is hell of a good machine, almost as good as the etesias, hell of a lot better than the kubotas, but still id be looking at etesias because of the customer service, parts, and thats the only thing they specilise in, mowers... and they've got it right.
  23. im guessing you mean ride on with a budget of 12k... My vote is etesia. Currently got kubota but wish i hadent moved from etesia. Etesias will colect wet grass any weather, alu decks no rust and built like a tank, but best of all etesia are so helpfull with customer service. Otherwise id be looking at the john deers, x748... jd do have a new version out now which might be in your budget?
  24. Daniel, what size are the wheels on your BJ? Do you find it rides better with the bigger wheels or a sway when fully loaded? I had a Ifor Generial duty with 13" i think and when fully loaded was seriously unstable and rocked and swayed badly, but pulled lovely with no weight on. My ifor flatbed now handles the weight much better with the smaller wheels but is horrible to tow empty!
  25. After a little looking over ideas to replace my navara king cab ive had to come to the conclusion that i just cant justify having 4x4 or running 2 vehicles. I was looking at a defender 130 and a small berlingo type van but just cant seem to make the numbers work. So im kinda liking the idea of a transit custom 125hp swb low roof, specs say it can tow 2500kg braked, i can work with that. But this would have to be on one of those new finance payments. So looking for your advice of tyes of finance? Im not vat reistered so how does that affect me with new finance? Any one have a transit custom? Your reviews? What are vans like at towing? Currently got a ifor lm126 with ramp etc and it weighs at least a ton so might have to swap for something a little lighter. Cheers again for your help, really value your thoughts and hope you have a happy new year!
