  3. boards outside were you are working. if client is happy ask first. van advertising. portfolio of work you have undertaken. so new clients can see your work you have done. paper advertising costs. flyers may get 1% from all you post through doors its word of mouth and recommendations that bring in the work. its a hard slog but it does start to trickle in once you have done a few jobs. with the TV showing shoddy workman. people are wary of trying tradesman they do not know if you have a cv of happy customers who are willing to recommend you then you will get the work.
  4. do not know if any one saw a programme during the week about the fire fighters in the brazilian rain forest guy from uk went over to work with them. the amount of forest fires burning most started to get rid of the trees to turn it into agriculture land. and due to the deforestation of the rain forest the rest is becoming dry now as humidity has dropped so it is catching fire more easy.
  5. just to let you know i bought a disco and that had lived near the sea for most of its life. had it for a while but had a few problems with it took it to garage and whole back end had rotted away. by salt air. was a total right off sold it to a guy i knew who could do the work himself but cost him over 2k just to fix the chassis so look at log book
  6. do not worry just let them know you have dyslexia and they wil let you have i trust if its a college a reader to read the questions for you you just give the correct answer. my daughter went to college for 7 years and came out with 2 diplomas and has bad dyslexia so go for it. do not let it hold you back.
  7. so it will need to dry out for some time before i can use it. pay to look for some seasoned stuff and use that.if i do do it will put some before and after. looking at doing it just to see the finished job. even if it turns out a freebe. just for the satisfaction of doing it
  8. if there still ok will stop the saw dead and you will be hooking out the kevlar from the saw.
  9. that tax will be to pay the grant to bring back derelict woods back by paying landowners with woods to look after them. we live in a mad country that they tax the wood coming out and hand it back for it to come out.
  10. can any one explain what HD4 is have some dragons teeth to fit and they are HD4 treated and garentee for 15 years. have to say some of the tanilised muck coming out is not worth it. hence i go to a local timber mill and there products are all top notch. and match or price is better than the big boys.
  11. i have a job to poss make a pair of gates for a churchyard. thought it would look good as most churchyards have yews. done very little in this way. what size yew would i need to get a 3"x3" post and will yew cut ok.
  12. as other local posts getting close. good job i have my gear at home and have the geese and dogs plus security lights. wonder if its the same lot who turned over WGM for 80k, sorry re your loss and trust insurance cover for new gear. but its a pain having to sort it all out.

the 550xp is a cracking saw had a go with one to try does it fly through wood. saving up to get one. you will not be disappointed. and its light for size of engine so good to work with in woods.
  16. re the kubota local large landscape firm have one and heard very good reports about it will lift up and tip into a transit tipper. and cuts very fast so can do jobs very quick. as for price no idea but bet not cheap.
  17. yes efco and oleo mac the same. i had there bigger saws had no problem with them last 10 years before they died heard the echo top handle is good. why not get a cordless no fuel ideal up a tree let go stop pull rigger they start no pulling to start. got to be the way forward up a tree.
  18. +1 if its not to bad the insurance have said its not worth spending on just have it back let them pay out and have it fixed. or sell it off for spares. so make more money thats all the insurance will do pay out sell it and it will be fixed or stripped for spares
  19. some very good jobs any customer seeing your work need not go elswere for the job top class. you would win a gold at chelsea with your work. out of interest what did you lign the pond with did you use clay. and the walled garden by any chance was it in Hampshire looks very like a job i was on and that looked good.
  20. if you are going to use in saws then just use aspen i switched between pump and aspen my echo was a pig i now only use aspen nothing else and it runs brill. i find my saws run far better on it. have to prove they run longer but look like they do. next is ride on just got it. running on pump at present when its empty will run on aspen 4 and see what difference it makes.
  21. thank you for the post i was looking at a artic load now i know what approx you get on one. and what a builders bag will take can see what it will cost to buy in and what i can make on a load taken into account fuel for saws splitting etc very good post thank you very much
  22. i do not know what a peck is like from a parakeet but my cockatoo if he nips you know it draws blood. and it hurts. gave a friend once a prince albert when sat on his lap:blushing: the little ones still got a good beak for breaking open fruit stones. best of luck watch your ears and other sensitive bits.
  23. what were they like. in good nick or been well used sounds a lot for second hand kit thats farm sales for you either cheap or go for silly money what did the pedestrian flails go for
  24. about right as they sell for 10mil plus.
  25. i went to the tyre place the other day re new tyres and they had cooper tyres and i believe they were ST will check my facts but cheaper than the BF. and 4x4 police using them now as a good tyre off and on road. so looking at going down the cooper route when i need a new set if i am correct approx £90 a tyre including fitting. will go to comercial tyre place and do some proper finding out re coopers. be cheaper than place in town with 3 letters
