  1. i had a pair of corona bypass and very good the time they lasted 4 days. had a fault with them and dealer never restocked them. so went with a pair of sthil very good loppers but be good if they had the ratchet on them to aid cutting wood. felco looked at them but at £150 a pair there are as good loppers out there for less money. hedgelaying group bought a pair from Liddles for £10 best loppers i have used. need to get to a liddles to see if i can get a pair. had a huge anvil and blade and very well built never let them down and used a lot. but bypass is far better than the parrot beak ones do not work well

  7. was asked to quote to cut a lyandi hedge 25ft tall and 300mtrs long top and sides. quoted £500 that was hireing a mewp. said he had someone doing it cheaper. how cheap do you go i thought £500 was a bit cheap for job. as it would have taken two of us two days to cut and take brash to his fire. next time he asks it will be the proper price to do job.
  8. sums it up found it would do nothing as it would cause a stink. and press would love the story of traveler and family evicted from caravan. now its if we can find it we will recover it for you. which haystack do you look for needle. got a festival over road someone nicked some arm bands to get in security chased him towards our place ran off into woods. police arived 1/2 hour later one copper on his own to look for him not a lot of cop he was gone.
  9. i have a saw and i do fell trees but in the wood and i make sure its clear to fell without getting hung up. i would never do a tree in a back garden do not have the skills or proper kit to do it. so pass any of that work on to guys who can do the job. people think its easy to drop a tree its not in the wrong hands. and insurance would not pay out if it damaged anything.
  10. when i worked in IT 20 years ago they said that paper would be a thing of the past as would all be stored on a pc 20 years on and we use more paper now than we did back then and most of it is wasted by big companies who just print it for the sake of.

  17. had a phone call today to strim the tops and side of flood channels on a water meadow. the one i am doing is one of only 3 left in the country still working. most have become derelict. they have restored the sluice gates that allow the water from the river on to the meadows. so it floods in winter enriching the soil for better fodder for livestock. will get some before and after photos and when they open the gates for the first time in 10 years on saturday. nice to see water meadows being used as they did for hundred of years:thumbup:
  18. i know a hedgelayer who has been to holland for comps they lay different over there they pleach up the stem instead of down at bottom and use one of the stems as the binder. yet to see it done. but pictures look very good. like to have a go doing it
  19. if you are employed by a company then the loyalty is to the company they pay your wages. my old boss if i when working for a customer that was looking for more work i passed back to him if it resulted in getting the work then i got a extra in my pay packet for sales lead same for being self employed if someone hires you to do work and the customer wants more work then should be given to those who contracted you in to do the work. different if you have left someones employment and a customer calls you to do work.
  20. well i have found in the past the Americans very good to replying to emails re products. sadly not the case with bearcat not come back at all. as for machine well its in workshop. when i get it back the season will be over. so good money spent on a machine thats done if lucky 4 hours work. cost me money in fuel using cow, horn line, and my time as taken longer to do jobs. still going to saltex may need to go on there stand. see what they have to say.
  21. i get white finger due to using breakers for a few years if i use a saw for some time more so when its colder my hands tingle and then become very painful and swollen. was advised to get a heated handle saw as it keeps the little veins in fingers and hand open so controls reynards or white finger as for gloves may make it worse as restricts hands only gloves i do use is cut 5 gloves from tool station soft and light but with protection not from chain
  22. is it water cooled or air aspirated if water as recommended by eddie at aspen use aspen 4 with proper two stroke mix as looking to put in our modern two stroke mx bikes. if its air cooled the aspen 2 will be ok. if its been stood up for a long time i would take carb off strip down and boil in a pot of water this takes all the crud out of carb and floats to surface when it looks clean skim muck off take carb out. let it cool down and rebuild. and then just clean out the tank and lines with fresh fuel poss changing fuel lines if hard and brittle. should then be ok
