  1. Hey there, seen a lot of posts about people doing muffler mods and removing the spark arrestor. Now I'm aware that the pros are a gain in power, I was just wondering if there are any bad points to removing the item and why it's there in the first place?
  2. Ahh those tires suggested wont be much good then as they will dig in a good bit and make a mess
  3. Think these are the ones we had and they can be got in 10&12" wide so plenty of footprint to stop you sinking yet enough tread to maintain grip levels Kenda Executioner K538 Very Aggressive Mud/Snow ATV Tire
  4. Surly a decent set of tractor like tread flotation tyres would do? We hed some on a trx550 years ago and it would go anywhere, that was on a farm on exmoor where we had to tend to a lot of stock on boggy commons.
  5. I'm sure they will be fine, the only ones I know of that have gone are ones that have been used for off roading quite a bit as they take a bit of a battering
  6. The hubs work on a vaccum system which again can be problematic if not maintained and is expensive to replace pipes if they break but if they do break the cheapest and best option in my opinoin is buy some free wheeling hubs, just over £100 and is an easy 5 min bolt on job
  7. Haha when you see what others have done to them it's tempting to do all that . I do believe they are although the general grabber at's are pretty good too, popular size for standard jimny's seems to be 195,80,15 to give a little more ground clearance than standard size
  8. A word of advice when looking, steer clear of the modded ones, there often a bit cheaper than a non modded one but you don't know what they have done with it and how hard it's been driven
  9. If buying one make sure you check the chassis as well as they can be susceptible to rot if not looked after
  10. I wouldn't exactly say there brilliant on fuel, recon mine does around 30 to the galon on a good day and as for things that go wrong, that I know of there is just the kingpin bearings that cause a problem but its cheap and easy to fix
  11. In an 8 hour day how long have you actually got your finger on the trigger cutting timber? I know it's only 35 mins run time but when your up a tree it's all stop start
  12. Just seen that too, is this true or just a typing error?
  13. I would hold out for a stihl or husky personally and would suggest going for a rear handle as apprised to a top handle and be very careful using a chainsaw from a ladder, ladders are for access only really. How much work do intend to do with it?
  14. I have a jimny with some mud terrains on and I honestly can't see it being much of a problem provided you use low box, I've got several land rovers out of sticky situations with mine, they really do grip like s£$t to a blanket with decent tyres and power to weight they have more hp per tonne than a landrover. Haven't towed a trailer with mine just yet, only saying what I've said based on my own experiences
  15. I'm running an 18" bar on my 550xp atm. Find it puls it okay, had the entire bar in some eucalyptus the other week and pulled fine, gonna get a smaller bar though and only use the bigger one when I need to
  16. have a look here, they dont look too bad http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/chainsaws/49910-husqvarna-t536-li-xp.html
  17. it says to contact for availability
  18. where are they on sale in the uk? and i know there on the website but they have been delaying the release date in the uk for ages now
  19. bah the new husky is just a myth hahaha. its suppose to drop in feb but i wouldn't count on it
  20. two votes for the echo, looking like a clear winner haha, cheers for the feed back guys
  21. hey guys, have been shopping around for a small top handle and have whittled it down to two, the makita dcs230t and the echo cs260tes but cant decide which one to go for so was looking other peoples thoughts on the two and weather one is better than the other
  22. Thanks and I heard the petrol one is becoming a myth haha
  23. any ideas when the top handle will be available?
  24. Hello all, since we had our log burner we have opened and closed the bottom vent to regulate the burn but a few weeks ago my dad was looking at new log burners and found one that used a sort of air injection system from the top so it burnt down instead of up and it stated that by doing this it burnt more of the gasses and ash in the fire with claim of only a pint of ash from a cube of timber. Since reading this we have been burning our wood burner by using just the top vent to see if it makes a differance and to my supprise it does, the amount of ash it's producing I considerably less yet still seems to give off the same heat as usual. Just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of this and weather anyone else uses just the top vent?
