Not sure what anyone else thinks but I think your doing well to get that down there, I worked in the southwest farming for several years and I didn't get what your getting and personally think you'll struggle to get any more than what your on sadly, the south west seems to have on average a lot lower rate of pay than the rest of the country hence why I moved away from it

just wondering on price here, spoke to the local dealer the other day and he has offered a new cs100 18hp electric start model for just shy of £5000 inc vat new, is this a good price?

decided on a cabstar, im only starting out and they seem a nice truck at a reasonable price and boast a 1380kg payload on a 34.10 model which i think in time wont be enough but for now will be okay

since ive been self employed ive always insured for business use so i can offset fuel against tax, currently have 2 vehicles, one with 5 years no claims and the other with one and bothe are insured for business and come in at just over a grand for the pair!

i understand that its going to be more but i just think £2371 is ridiculous. wouldn't mind so much nearer a grand but not what ive just been quoted. will use the net and get the big yellow book out tomorrow and have a ring round. anyone any suggestions who to try first?

looking at getting my self a nissan cabstar 34.10 tipper so thought i would check insurance so went on go compare and....£2371!!!!! granted i am only 24 but have been driving over 6 years and have 5 years no claims on my current car which i will add is an audi s3 and costs me only £500 to insure. am i better off giving someone a call about it or is this a standard price? if i should call somewhere, who should i call?

Ahh, thought it was just wishful thinking haha and I have been looking at the cabstar, don't look too bad although I have read several negative reviews about them , anyone give me their verdict on them?

Looking at getting a 3.5t tipper and wondered what has the best payload, any near 2t or is that just wishful thinking?

Just setting up at the moment and this is exactly what I was thinking of doing as a start, like the idea of having the swing lift too, think it could work quite well to get me started

i live just down the road from there and there sound blokes, will def be buying from them again and as far as service goes there brilliant. would definitely recommend them

I was going to suggest either maybe antler gorges or a big cat but as its the crown antlers are out of the question haha

Can you see where the bark has come from eg bottom, mid way or at the top?

I personally would just give them a price per hour if your un sure. Obviously depends on what you are to supply eg saw and fuel or just yourself. As a self employed qualified man I don't think £18-20 per hour is out of the way if your supplying saw and fuel.

I personally find this law heighly frustrating as I have 8 years experience with big trailers behind tractors yet still cannot tow anything of importance behind a car/truck, another thing that ticks me off is that someone of 17 years old can pass his driving test and is automatically given the licence to go and drive a tractor with huge trailer with no experience what so ever and if I'm not mistaken, that means he can drive the legal limit of 26t gtw with tractor and trailer

As long as the trailer weighs no more than 750kg it can be towed on a licence passed after 1/1/1997 as long as that vehicles mam is no more than 3500kg without a trailer, giving the driver a gtw of 4250kg. The other way that I was explaining goes not on the mam of the vehicle but in the un laden kerb weight of that vehicle and yes, you are correct that the trailers plated weight cannot weigh more than the kerb weight.

I can understand that, and I'll agree it is very much a privilege for specialists making working much easier. I still think there should be some sort of qualification for them! Little correction on what I've already said, It definitely states, by my course provider, that I am to have a top handle saw there for meaning they are available legitimately before you've passed cs39? Has anyone ever been asked to produce a qualification? If so what did they ask for when buying a top handle?

Fair enough, it does state that it can be done with either a top or rear handled saw with maximum guide bar length of 15" however where I will do mine it states that I am to supply my own saw and in all fairness, how often would you climb with a rear handle saw? Although I'm sure it's doable, it's going to be much easier with a top handle. Also with all that being the case, surely if anything you should just have to have cs30/31 to purchase one? Unless there is a specific course for top handle saws?

Little bit of information you may or may not know but is interesting and could help. As I'm sure you all know, if you passed your test after January the first 1997 you can only tow up to 750kg, or so it would seem, after doing a little research I have discovered that you can actually tow a fair bit more than that. Basically it states that if you pass your test after the 1/1/1997 you can tow a trailer weighing more than 750kg as long as the loaded weight of the trailer doesn't exceed the un laden kerb weight of the vehicle used to tow and that gross train weight of loaded trailer and vehicle doesn't exceed 3500kg. For arguments sake. If the kerb weight of the vehicle being used is 1500kg a person without a trailer licence can tow a trailer weighing 1500kg loaded leaving 500kg that could be loaded onto the truck, thought and feelings on this are more than welcome and here's a link to where I found the information https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-car/driving-licence-rules-and-what-you-can-tow
