  1. Seems quite a simple choice judging by the comments, 550/560xp gets another vote from me. Cannot fault mine, very well balanced and bags of power!
  2. My personal favourite is the old case mx series before they were taken over by new holland, 99-03. Had an mx 110 years ago that was opened up and kicking out about 140hp, felt an absolute beast to drive, so much torque it was unreal, out pulled a neighbouring farmers McCormick mtx185!!
  3. Exactly, and the warranty ran for 2 years so worked out well really, I know people often over look them but the tractors in question were a McCormick mc115 and mc105 bout with loaders. I can honestly say we had very few problems with them in the first 5000 hours of their life and they were nice to drive and easy to get used too. It's also the best small loader tractor I have ever driven where capability is concerned, could lift 2.5-3ton without the rear end bobbing
  4. Worked on a farm a few years ago, had 2 tractors and would clock up an average of 2500hrs a year on each machine and replaced them every 2 years
  5. Here ya go CS30 Assessment Schedule - CS31 Assessment Schedule
  6. Well the lines at max are only 2 metres away, I would consider that dangerously close personally, definitely warranting shutting off before I think about doing them. Thanks Taupotreeman, to be on the safeside I'm gonna do just that, can never be too cautious around electric
  7. Cheers for the info guys, it's all food for thought, only thought of mewp for ease but I see what your saying about climbing and making the job cheaper, to be fair that's probs what I'll end up doing, gotta sort out getting the power off first
  8. Ahh I see where your coming from and I can understand what you mean. I know I'm quite in experienced but am very eager to learn and that can only happen with experience that's also why I posted here first, I do appreciate anyone taking the time to reply as its nothing but help for me . In relation to distance I would say the closest one is 20' and the farthest eat one is 30' or so. They have already had a quote from a local tree surgeon but as they know me they just thought they would ask me for a price as well so as the other firm priced to remove and cause there's a river right next to it I assume it will have little affect to the ground?
  9. Apologies for sounding like a muppet but what do you mean by because if water table? A note I would like to add is that there is a river running past the house, if you look at the last pic you can see the ford just right of centre shot and the house to the left
  10. Ahh okay, that makes it a little simpler. So do I just get in touch with the national power grid then or do I speak to local/ regional power company?
  11. Hello all. I have recently changed career and put my self through all my tickets. A friend of the mrs has asked me to have a look at a couple of trees with a view to giving he a quote. I have done several jobs already and am completely comfortable with the two trees in question here but I have a couple of questions about the environment the trees are in. The trees in question are a pair of poplars, roughly 60' and near to their house but what I really wanted advice on is the power lines beneath them. There is a telegraph pole between the two with lines running both ways round the trees, upon looking at it today it would appear the top two lines are not insulated so instantly thought the power would need to be shut off to do the job and basically thought it would be a job for a mewp as there is good access. What's involved in requesting the power to be turned off to do the job and can anyone apply for this? Also what sort of cost is involved, pics of the trees are below Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Not sure really, have a rough weight of what it weighs at the moment so will get a pic tomorrow of it's current state and post it up with its current weight. I have worked out it'll be around the 500kg mark when it's all finished and as I have access to a weigh bridge I shall post the final weight when it's all finished as well
  13. That's rather expensive!! One of the plus sides of mine is the bloke training me was ex police so really knows his stuff
  14. Not as of yet, recently done my 39 and b+e and have been away so haven't had a lot of time but hoping to crack on again this week
  15. Pretty certain it's 17. It cost me £360 all in and that's for 1.5 days training, assesment, insurance and hire of the vehicle for the assesment
  16. Just thought I'd post it as I'm over the moon about passing and with only 3 minors . Would also like to say to anyone considering it, it's not exactly a difficult test, more about common sense than anything however I would advise some training beforehand so you know what's to expect and also so your driving is to a style they want to see but apart from that go for it. My training took place yesterday and part of this morning so not a lot is needed. Also to anyone in the lincolnshire/east mids area, I would reccomend speaking to Paul at Lincoln driver training, he's a great bloke a offers a very comprehensive course That is all George
  17. Ahh that's interesting tcd, will look into it, also got to try and sort that infamous breather problem which isn't going to be helping
  18. Haha mines not as economical as yours andy, went through about 20 litres in 8hrs so that's 2.5l per hour, not bad considering its a 24hp 5" chipper and good in comparison by the sounds of it but nothing like your under a litre an hour
  19. That's true, I think locally I can do 200 but at a bit of a distance may have to be a bit more to cover traveling expenses
  20. I realise that and it's not just to do days for others it's for my business as well, just wondering what's a fair price to say as and when I some get work for it, I've had one job already from a local fencing contractor and there may be more of the same to come
  21. Hey guys, got my self a little jo beau m500 and am trying to work out a day rate, was thinking £200 if chip is left on site and this will be based on an 8hr day, does this sound reasonable? I don't want to over charge but at the same time I don't want to be loosing out
  22. Standard really haha. This is brilliant!!
  23. It was very helpfull thank you, just waiting for a reply now haha
  24. Well after speaking to both fletcher Stewart and jo beau in Belgium it would appear that they changed the model slightly so a quick email to jo beau with my part number should sort it
